From the moment we arrived, Hotel Ullensvang felt like stepping into a dream. Nestled between majestic fjords and snow-capped mountains, the location alone is worth the trip — but what truly makes it extraordinary is the warmth and attention to detail from the entire team. The rooms are spacious, beautifully designed, and offer breathtaking views that change with the light of day. Waking up to the sight of the fjord was pure magic. The infinity pool overlooking the water is simply spectacular, and the wellness facilities are spotless, serene, and perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring. Breakfast and dinner were both exceptional, with fresh, local ingredients and a variety that caters to every taste — all served in a dining room with panoramic views. The staff went above and beyond to make every moment special, anticipating our needs before we even had to ask. Hotel Ullensvang is more than just a place to stay — it’s an experience of comfort, beauty, and Norwegian hospitality at its finest. I cannot recommend it enough, and I’m already planning my return.

Second time visit here, I'll say the yard is one of the best spot of hardanger fjord. Renovated room is very clean and huge. Also with coffee/tea facilities and a fridge, which used to have none. Like it very much. Had three nights buffet dinner. The qarm dishes and pastries changed daily. Has a huge variety of seafood and pastries. Comparing to last time I visited, the food imporved a lot. But I do missed the harp live performance. The basement (ground floor) changed but still have a lot to explore. You can find lots of stories belonging to Edvard Grieg and history of this hotel there. There are also several seating area, each with different kinds of feeling. The atmosphere is fantastic. I tried playing my instrument in one of the area in a rainy day and love it.
The pool's temperature is too low for me. Both insisted and outside. But the adult pool area is fine. Just missed the fruit bloosom this year, and almost 3/3 raining days. Bad luck. Will be there againg and hope the luck turns to me.

A nice hotel with several facilities including indoor and outdoor swimming pools, sauna and tennis courts. It also has good view of the sea and surrounding mountains especially for the rooms located on the waterfront side. The rooms are clean with adequate accessories and the service by the staff is great. A buffet breakfast is served with excellent selections and variety of foods. Free car parking is available with electric charging stations provided (i.e. with a fee NOK 400 per charge). There is a quiet clean small town with few stores nearby.
The rooms on the street side were not as good due to occasional street noise and poor view.

This is a large historic-but-rebuilt hotel with lots of amenities and a beautiful setting right on the Sorfjord (one of the fingers of Hardangerfjord). The room was clean, comfortable, and modern. We stepped up for the "deluxe twin room with sea view", and had a balcony with a spectacular fjord view. The dining room was very nice, with excellent selections on a buffet for both breakfast and dinner, showcasing local food. The breakfast buffet included a showcase of traditional cheeses (three kinds of brunost - the distinctive Norwegian brown cheese) with nice descriptions, and dinner included reindeer and elk for those who would like to try those. There were also plenty of gluten-free options for my celiac husband. And of course good selection of local ciders. The property was vast, featuring several pools (both indoor and outdoor) and a large spa area, and it is interesting just to wander the hotel and its grounds. There was plenty of parking, and the hotel had a covered parking area with its own EV charging stations for a fee (operated by the hotel, so you don't have to worry about having the right app or network).
No complaints - we were quite happy here.

this is really a charming place :) it has all facilities one can really wish for - pool (inside/outside), billiard, various hidden/private rooms for chatting, sauna, tennis court, ping pong, ... direct access to the fjords (people swum in it) cozy room lovely views from the restaurant nice breakfast selection (coffee could have tasted better :( - coffee_lovers_here ) spacious and modern bathroom
the underground parking has just a few and quite tiny lots - SUVs or minivans would have issues .. .tho there is one outside parking around the corner as well for guests we got a room which was on the ground floor and facing the street/outside parking .. since there were no curtains (only blinds) we couldn't ventilate the room, nor have the blinds open in the morning/evening .. for everyone passing by would have gotten a very good look into our room and straight on our bed :( this was very disappointing.. at least having curtains there would help

Location, spa facilities, high quality breakfast buffet, friendly staff.
Shower had somewhat weak water flow. Bathtub shower without grab bar might be a problem for some (slippery), no bath mat (used a medium towel). Shower soap, shampoo and conditioners were empty upon arrival and were not refilled during cleaning. I travel with my own so not big issue. Still, all the other plusses outweighed these minor issues by far.

We booked two rooms and got them close to each other, as requested. Rooms were in good condition and not as outdated as we expected based on some reviews. Mini fridge in the room was convenient. Interestingly, there were a lot of places in hotel's common area where a large group could seat together. They were always empty. Breakfast was great with a lot of options. There are great views from the restaurant’s windows. Possibility to charge EV was convenient.
Dinner buffer was not as good as we expected. There were not that many options. E.g. salmon was served only once during our two visits, and it was nothing special. Also, the warm food was not warm enough. For the price, I would expect at least one non-alcoholic drink to be included in the price. Except for the hotel’s backyard, there are no places to walk nearby the hotel without need to immediately climb into the mountain, where roads might be too steep for somebody. There’s only one jacuzzi in the spa, which was always occupied. No water boiler in the room.

Lovely views from the lobby and restaurant . Ample choices for breakfast and buffet dinner. One receptionist was very helpful with suggestions for hikes and things to see and do in the Hardanger area. The charging station was very helpful as we had rented an electric car. The hotel is clean and spacious with recreation facilities ( which we did not use, but might be nice if travelling with children or young adults) The bathroom was new and clean with all amenities.
The room was on 6th floor and had awkward roof shape . spouse bumped his head on it. Beds are clean and comfortable but quite narrow. No tea/coffee making facility in room and breakfast starts only at 7 am so early risers cannot enjoy morning cuppa. poor lighting in room, but you do get used to it.

Extraordinary location on the shore of the fjord, with view toward the surrounding mountains on the opposite side. Vast facilities with balconies, decks and gardens where to relax. Astonishing swimming pool that we didn't have the chance to try for lack of time. Incredible breakfast and buffet dinner, with amazing choices. Passenger ferry stops just next door.
The soap dispenser in our room was empty. No tip for the maid.
