Somewhat quirky accommodation. We stayed in a twin room with shared bathroom (which was just across the passage, and very neat and clean). Beds comfy although soft (seems to be the norm in Norway). Breakfast was a very nice and hearty buffet.

Would have liked breakfast to start half an hour or so earlier (was from 8), but only as we had a long drive ahead of us. Not the hotel’s fault, but I wish Booking.com can somehow make it clearer when the booking has already been taken from your card (cancellation after a certain date no longer possible), or when payment must be made at the hotel. This always makes for awkward checking of bank statements when checking in…

We had a lovely 2 nights stay at one of the double rooms with shared bathroom. The bed was comfortable and although the main road is close, the isolation was good and we were not cold. The common bathroom was always clean and the cleaning personell was very friendly and the owner is service-minded in solving problems. The breakfast is really good and plenty, which makes the value of the stay really good. The old museum-like vibes of the breakfast/livingroom are are very cozy. The location is perfect for discovering Hardanger area and the Vidda.

I loved my stay in this refreshingly unpretentious guesthouse that managed to combine comfort, convenience, affordability and quirkiness. As advertised, the bathroom / toilet facilities are shared, though there is an in-room hand basin and the bathrooms were very clean. The furnishings fall somewhere between traditional Norwegian, eighteenth century French and patriotic American. There is a very cool stuffed reindeer in the lobby, and a casual vibe reinforced by 60’s music. Beakfast is included and is both copious and delicious. Dinner and lunch are available with pancakes a specialty. The Guesthouse is located at East Eidfjord, about 7km up the valley from Eidfjord itself, on a beautiful lake framed by mountains.

Because it is an old building there is no lift to the rooms on the upper level and the stairs are very steep. It is on the main highway so there is a certain amount of traffic noise.

Very nice place to stay. This hotel, its tasteful interior, has something special what will make you feel like at home. Very clean room and bathroom, and comfortable beds. It looks as it has a good owner who takes care of details that make your stay pleasant and calm. The staff is very helpful, friendly and caring about guests. Thank you very much! We definetly recommend this quiet place to stay for families as well as for couples or individual travellers.

It is hardly possible to find something what could be improved. The hotel with its over a hundred-year traditions, has its own unique Swiss-style and professional staff (two young guys) who really know how to provide excellent service to customers. Great place, we are very happy with finding this place on Booking.

A really special place with a very welcoming and nice staff. We spent only one night there but it was so cozy that it felt longer, almost like home. The interior attracts intention. And the breakfast!!!! The best on our trip - with pankakes, so yummy!

Great location and friendly staff. It is very good to see such historical guesthouses being preserved and surviving time 🙂 very good pancakes! The bed was also very comfortable. The remarkable Vøringsfossen can be reached in only 15 mins by car and the norwegian natural museum is only a couple minutes away walking.

Maybe it would be worth paying extra attention to the cleaning of the furniture (found some dust layers). Adding an air dryer in the bathroom would also be a good point.

Historic hotel, full of charm and detail. Friendly staff, limited menu but great food value food for evening meal. Breakfast was excellent, usual stuff plus pancakes. Maybe not for those who like everything new, modern and expect every modern convenience away with them, but if you like to experience character and interest, this place is a must. Will return to Norway again and make sure this place is en route

Everything was clean and nice, style is a bit special but the place is still cosy. Breakfast were amazing and the owner seems really nice!
