This was one of our favourite stays. The room and common area were clean and spacious with the best futons of our entire trip.

The steep stairs to the room were tricky for the 6’5” member of our crew.

Hands off self service type accommodation. Shower room and sink en suite then toilet dedicated to each room but just outside the room. Large shared kitchen and dining area which is ideal if you are here for a while and wanting to cook meals etc. free use of washer/dryer. Traditional room with tatami matting and futon beds which were super comfortable! Location great - 5-10min walk from main part of Higashi Chaya District. 5min walk to Family Mart combine and McDonald’s. We didn’t meet any staff during our stay but they were quick to reply via messaging if we needed anything (mainly recommendations for the area!). We had our luggage shipped to this accommodation from our previous location and arrived all ok.

Had to leave the room to get to the toilet (which was assigned to the room) Limited space to sit in the room itself but there was ample room in the communal dining area downstairs Fresh kitchen equipment including new sponge, chux cloth and tea towel would have been good (had to just use what was available but didn't know when it had last been turned over). Location a bit out-of-the-way - buses were available (most bus stops were ~5 minute walk away). However Kanazawa bus options can be extremely confusing to the uninitiated (around 4 different companies)

Lovely Japanese house, I enjoyed sleeping on the futon. The location was close to the Higashi Chaya district. Facilities are all modernised, bottles of shower products even provided so you can visit the local bathhouse. Clearly it has been designed with care. I would say this property is best to stay multiple nights in Kanazawa and explore at a relaxed pace.

The lock to get into the building was difficult to use. After typing the code we couldn't get the door to open for about 10 minutes, and had to be let in by another guest. The secret, as it turns out, is to apply pressure to the door, otherwise the deadbolt can get stuck. Of course, there was a contact number, so I'm sure if we called the issue could have been resolved if we didn't work this out.

I like the common kitchen area - well equipped - too bad we did not need to use it at all. I would consider coming back there when we stay more than one night. I liked the room as well, Japanese futons were comfortable, and the shower room in the unit was very useful.

Laundry: although we appreciated having the on-site laundry, when we needed to use it, someone else already started and that lasted more than 4 hours - no chance for us to use it that night. Also, there was no staff at the site.

Location, nice accommodating host, facility, comfort, amenities- we did not use washer and dryer not cooked much but the Netflix came handy during 2 of 4 super rainy days with some periods of severe storms and inability explore all day long as we usually do. Host picked us up at the station during a rain and provided umbrellas so we can start our walk till check in time. Plenty of drinks offered and a very delicious nespresso. Communication was excellent. We would stay again and recommend to others.

All Was good

The shared kitchen and dining area made it more comfortable. Kitchen had some supplies like coffee, green tea, hot chocolate for kids. There was a good assortment of dishes. Family room had 4 beds in one room with a room divider with 2 more beds. Mattresses were comfortable but were on floor. Owner picked up our luggage at the station and put them in our upstairs rooms. We were able to start touring right away.

Private toilet was in the hallway. There were only 2 rooms upstairs and each had his own private toilet. It was far from the train station.

We got a free room upgrade and are deeply appreciative. The futons were very comfortable to sleep on and the linens were of superior quality. Room was spacious and included a seating area, complete with a low table and heated leg area. The kitchenette downstairs was well equipped and we could make delicious coffee from the coffee machine.

The road leading into the building was narrow and one of our car tyres got stuck in the thick snow. Fortunately, a resident from the house nearby helped us shovel the snow and allowed us to park our car there overnight. By mid morning the following day, the snow was ploughed and again with the help of the good Samaritan, we were able to get our car back onto the main road.

Room was beautiful. Clean. Bathroom supplies plentiful. Shampoo and shower gel smelled amazing. Location was good. Kitchen out the front was good - free coffee tea and whiskey!!! Good table and chairs out front to use. Enjoyed our stay.

Extra charges. I paid 3,300 extra yen on top of hotel room price and did not understand why there was an envelope left in the room looking for more money? I wasn’t made aware of this and hidden charges are not good. Charges to use nightwear I think was not good. I have my own nightwear so didn’t need.. but all other hotels let you use or leave out nightwear for guests. Didn’t like toilet outside the room. Didn’t like when woke up throughout the night to use toilet and had to leave my room.

Very nice little inn with a kitchen, a lovely room(s), a nice shower setup, communal kitchen and free coffee/tea/whiskey. Close to the bus line and convenience store. There was also free laundry, which was awesome. I met the host, in-passing and only once, and be was very polite. A ‘hands-off’ inn, which I appreciate, that I would stay at again. A great balance of service and independence.
