Deano the host very friendly and helpful. Large room and comfortable . Heating was tremendous on a cold night . Great shower pressure. It is close to the rail trail which was my purpose to visit. It is also close to the old mental asylum which runs tours and would be perfect to stay if you were doing those. Beechworth itself is a very beautiful town with great restaurant and shopping options.
Obviously a beautiful heritage building and it is not in immaculate condition. If you expect perfection this is not the place. It would cost hundreds of thousands to bring this place to brilliant condition but I am not sure if this is the goal here.

Such a cool and historic building, absolutely an incredible stay on the nicest (and most fascinating) grounds. The caretaker (Davo or Damo from memory?) was great, super jovial, friendly and jokey as he checked us in in his pajamas since we arrived just before the latest check-in time. Don't expect a 5 star resort in terms of the facilities and you'll be impressed, but obviously they are a bit dated and it's an old-style motel so that's part of the charm.
The bathroom had a gross smell that has probably lingered for ages and is hard to get rid of, the sofa bed in the family room was pretty subpar and uncomfortable, and the room could have been cleaner and could do with a thorough steamclean and update. We only stayed for one night so it wasn't a huge deal, but I certainly spent as little time in the bathroom as possible and avoided using the shower entirely! For the price it's still great value, but it's not the most comfortable place in the world - although it's a hell of a lot comfier than the building used to be, so again, it's a privilege to complain!

The guy who checked us in, absolutely one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He really shows that you don't judge a book by his cover. The man has a heart of gold and really cared about how our stay was. No issue was ever to small and was really welcoming. Didnt come across as a robot or was only there to do his job. Thank you for making our stay nice and easy. I've seen other reviews where people complained about the fact the place is "dated", but failed to remember that they are staying in apart of history. Your staying in the nurses housing from when the asylum was open, not some recently build resort. If they had fully renovated the rooms to look modern and more fancy, you would be loosing the charm and for us in particular, the reason we chose to stay here, because we wanted to embrace the history of this place. Also people need to remember, your paying for what you get. This place isn't trying to be something it's not, if you wanted something 5 stars and modernised, you could stay down the road. Would I recommend this place 1000% yes, would I stay here again, 1000% yes.
Wifi sucked, we stayed on level 3 down the end of the floor and couldn't get the wifi, just keep that in mind but it wouldn't stop us from staying again. Sometimes it's nice to disconnect. Also wasn't sure if the air-conditioning was on or not. Just seem like moments when the room got a tad stuffy for a bit before it cooled down again.

Loved the location as it is near to all the old asylums and the lake + a quick walk into town. The building is interesting in itself and has gardens and ample parking. The host is friendly and accommodating as we had booked 2 rooms for us and our teenage daughter and he thoughtfully gave us adjacent rooms. Comfortable bed and sufficient facilities.
The AC in one of the two rooms we booked wasn't working and could not be fixed. The host provided lots of fans and it was cool enough at night. No big deal for me as I hate ACs anyway, but it bothered my wife and would doubtless be an issue for those who can't take the heat.

We have stayed at Linaker previously & love the spacious grounds, the beautiful old trees & the peaceful, quiet surrounds.Linaker is set away from the main shopping, cafes hub of Beechworth & it is a very relaxing ambience. Although set away from the centre of Beechworth the cafes & restaurants are only a short drive away & are very easy to access. Also there is ample parking close by the accommodation & there is a lift to the upper floors of the accommodation. Although somewhat dated the accommodation was comfortable, very clean, crisp clean sheets on the bed. There was a kettle & teabags etc.
There were a couple of problems with the accommodation we were allocated. We both like to read and there were no bedside reading lamps which was annoying. There were only overhead lights & this was an inconvenient. In addition there were 2 televisions in the accommodation, one in the sleeping area & one in the sitting area but neither of them were tuned & though we attempted to tune them unfortunately we had no success. There seemed to be a problem with the wifi.

Quaint, unpretentious room. Perhaps a little too tight but enough for an overnight stay. Hard to comment about staff as we only met Dean when he handed us our key on arrival, we dropped the keys into a box on departure. Lovely location on May Day Hill. Had a great dinner at the Royal Oak opposite. Later a walk around beautiful Beechworth, despite an arctic wind. We find the siting, in the grounds of the old Mental hospital, with its beautiful gardens, very pleasant.
Nothing to dislike. Perhaps a breakfast option could make the place seem more companionable.

Manager Deano was very busy with the Easter rush, yet check-in was smooth, swift and friendly. He made time to help me access a power point to plug the car in so that I could charge it - a bonus of the stay. The setting of the Motel is exquisite - beautiful gardens and grounds. Interesting history to the buildings also. My room was spacious and comfortable, well appointed, with ample hot water. The easy position to The Oaks was very convenient for dinner. I can't wait to return for a slightly longer stay so that I can take my husband.
Nothing.

Very comfortable bed!. Dino was a great character, enthusiastic guy with great knowledge and great communication 👍 Dino actually made our stay so much better! He was under the pump busy, but still went out of his way to speak with us. Top bloke!
Nothing. We understood that it was a busy weekend and towels weren't ready and no toilet paper or kettle in the room but was rectified quickly. I felt more staff for the busy period was needed. Dino was fantastic at accommodating in the circumstances. I felt he may have needed more assistance.

The staff were fantastic, extremely friendly and approachable. The room was above my expectation, having the bedroom, and a small lounge area being separate. Check in and check out was simple, and the location is perfect to visit the Beechworth Asylum. The whole feel to the place was more like a commune than a motel. People gathered outside, and in the lounge areas on each floor. It made the stay even more enjoyable.
The towels in the bathroom were small, and the lift was noisy

Greeting by enthusiastic Deano to the Accom. Beautiful gardens, excellent restaurant next door, easy to walk to. Very clean bed linen, towels, comfortable bed. Excellent TV reception. Easy parking. Lovely that there’s an attempt to maintain the originality of the Art Deco building. Would recommend Suite 8.
Need to drive to the town. Staff proud of the establishment, but it’s far too huge a job to maintain the building, additional staff required to make the building have its full potential, it’s a rough gem.
