Beautiful setting kept to a rigorous standard. Would be the most wonderful place for an intimate wedding, with large orangery with terraces spilling infront of the mill pond. A calming private place for a wake, and wonderful place for friends and family to get together I stayed in a fully accesible downstairs room with huge wet room, and bath tub! By chance, I met the wonderful owner, who is clearly commited to putting this hotel firmly on the map. In addition he had a great knowledge of the water wheel itself, which can be viewed, both inside the building and from the courtyard, in front. I cannot comment on breakfast, as I slept so soundly, I did not wake in time, lol. However I did have time to walk the lovely grounds and meet the Peacock, who was searching for his AWOL hen!
I found nothing on this trip!

Likes Nice welcome, we loved the location, the room was spacious and clean, staff were friendly and very helpful.Loved that the waterwheel was operated for us by a very nice, very busy lady.Food was excellent, dinner and breakfast cooked to perfection, good quality ingredients. Loved meeting Charlotte and George,Peahen and Peacock! Very good pricing of food, excellent value for money. Dislikes Sadly there were a couple, not so much dislikes more like niggles Nowhere to put your stuff in the shower room other than one tiny shelf. No side plates at dinner, had to ask for them. Moules marinier, which were great, served with nowhere to put empty shells so had to ask for bowl,no spoon for the lovely soupy sauce . A finger bowl would have been useful. Would rather have had dinner in the lovely characterful room by the waterwheel where we breakfasted rather than the rather IMHO, soulless main restaurant! All little things but all that make a great stay and great food, excellent! We do highly recommend the Mill!

My wife and I stayed for one night while visiting the area. Our room, with four poster bed, was lovely, with a view towards the river. The restaurant, bar, etc are large and well equipped. We relaxed in the bar, examined the enormous mill wheel and machinery, then enjoyed a tasty dinner. In the morning, despite there not being many staying while we were there (remember the week of floods and torrential rain - most people had more sense than to travel!) the chef produced an excellent full English for my wife and I.
The Mill is, we understand, under new ownership. The teamwork by the staff was excellent as they strive to return the mill to its former glory. There were a few rough edges but the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff far outweighed any negatives. I have no hesitation in recommending a stay in this wonderful building.

Staff were very friendly, attentive, and efficient. The bed was superb king size, room very clean shower good. In all the hotel is a definite gem especially with the water mill from the 13th century. Its a beautiful working watermill. Oh and the resident peacocks are an added attraction. The grounds are beautiful to walk around. In all this is a place I'll return to.
Not a lot to not like. Amazing place.

A lovely character property, beautiful grounds, peaceful. The rooms were lovely, my son asked to change his room as there was no shower, just a hose on the bath taps, he was given another room no problems. My one and only criticism was the mattress wasn’t very comfy, could do with replacing as I could feel springs, or maybe add a memory foam topper. Might be ok for some, but I have a very bad back. The breakfast was lovely with continental to start and then a choice of cooked breakfasts, I had an omelette it was delicious. The staff were friendly and polite, particularly the lady who served our breakfast.
Nothing not to like.

The food was delicious and well presented. The grounds natural with an easy pathway around the pond. We had a peep into the wedding reception room which was all laid out for a wedding and it looked magnificent. It is fantastic that the old mill machinery and water wheel can be observed through glass panels and more should be made of this! The staff were polite and efficient and extra compliments must go to the chef who produced some delicious dishes.
The reception area didn't give a good first impression and could easily be changed by being a little brighter.

All of the staff we encountered were just wonderful and so welcoming and went above and beyond to ensure we had a fabulous stay. Absolutely must mention Mandy who was amazing and shared in our excitement for fossil hunting setting up a 'museum' for us to display our treasures at breakfast the following morning! They absolutely made our visit 🙂
Loved the place, the facilities, the beautiful surroundings, meeting George the peacock!Nothing to dislike (I promise I'm not a member of staff!)

Staff were extremely welcoming and attentive. A charming renovated mill obviously converted some time ago. Rooms were spacious and clean although the decor a little dated. The evening menu offered several 'middle of the road' options catering for all. Staff kindly accommodated us with a 7:30 breakfast on Sunday as we needed to make an early start. The peacocks in the grounds were charming.

The breakfast was amazing value and all included in the price of the stay. The member of staff serving breakfast was particularly charming, friendly and helpful. The decor - in the whole building, not just our room - was beautiful. Classy and uncluttered with lots of fresh flowers in the bar/lounge area. The mill conversion was high end.

It was a perfect place for some rnr whilst visiting friends in Somerset. A lovely old building that had once been a Mill. The grounds were lovely, a stream, lake daffodils and a peacock and peahen made it so very welcoming. The owner and I chatted a lot and I was made to feel extremely welcome. I slept well and comfortably. I only needed a light evening meal which they were happy to do and lovely cooked breakfast in the morning before heading off. I would recommend Hornsbury
