Overall this place was a real find! The room was spacious and lovely, the host was very friendly and helpful, grounds were pleasant and the food was lovely.

I didnt realise there was a paid for wifi option, which I might have used, but as it was there was no wifi in the bedroom so I sat in the bar/reception area to do my work. There was also no plug socket anywhere near the desk in my room, so I had to work (without wifi) sat on the bed. The only other minor thing was it would have been nice to have more cereal options for breakfast, as there was only muesli, which isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Farthings is a lovely hotel. All the staff are friendly and very helpful - nothing is too much trouble. The evening meal we had was excellent and I understand the chef uses local produce as far as possible. There is a very good range of options for breakfast. Our room was very comfortable and seemed very fresh as if it has been recently refurbished. We enjoyed the use of our balcony and also the extensive gardens to the front and rear. For us, it was an excellent based for exploring Somerset and easily reached from the M5.

Lovely hotel in a great locstion off the beaten track with great facilities and lovely food

Stay several times at Farthings and booked a balcony room specifically to be able to sit outside on the balcony in the lovely spring sunshine - arrived to be told that the balcony could not be used due to refurbishment - this was not made clear at the time of booking with no apology or offer of reduction in price due to lack of facilities - if I had know this at the time of booking I would not have booked to stay here at this time

My wife and her mother stayed one night and said It was like staying in a beautiful home. The staff were polite and attentive, especially the lady at reception who greeted them when they arrived and personally showed them to their room. Such a lovely touch. Also Matt, who looked after them at Breakfast so well on his first day. Breakfast was lovely, the room (Sandalwood) was comfy, clean and welcoming. Parking on site was free and convenient. They would highly recommend. The perfect place for a family occasion, for a quiet stay to chill and unwind or for visitors to the area a place to stay and explore from. In one word 'Fabulous!'

Not a dislike, but my wife did find the pillows personally a little too plump and therefore, uncomfortable.

Friendly and welcoming staff. Both bedroom and bathroom with plenty of space. Very comfortable bed. Great to be able to make a cuppa when we wanted with fresh milk and water in the communal fridge. Good choice for continental breakfast.

Lighting in our room was not great but the lightbulb was soon changed and that improved considerably. Lighting in other bedroom was fine. My mother would have liked to have had a brochure or postcard to take away with her to show her friends what the hotel was like as she doesn't use social media or a mobile phone.

We have stayed here before, as the location is very convenient as a stopover on our way home. We love the cosy, relaxed feel of the both the property and staff. It's like staying with old friends who know how to make you feel comfortable, but also how to give you space. The garden is beautiful too and the rooms have a classic but eclectic charm, a million miles away from corporate hotel chains. The food is fantastic...both dinner and breakfast are the epitome of great cooking with fresh, local ingredients.

Our only reservation is that the beds are doubles not king size.

Although we weren't provide with rooms that were near one another, thought was given to my husband's mobility issues and a ground floor room was provided - perfect! Breakfast was delicious and the room was beautiful - very spacious and lovely bathroom.

The only addition to improve our stay would have been a coffee machine in the room rather than instant coffee. We appreciated the fresh milk in the fridge though.

Parked under a large oak tree in the only remaining space and following morning car was covered in bird poo. Had to clean car using gardener's hose as windscreen was so disgusting and then get car cleaned when arrived home. WARNING-do not park under large tree to right hand side of hotel

This is a beautiful hotel with stunning gardens. The evening meal and breakfast included lots of fresh local produce and were delicious. The staff were warm and relaxed. Our rooms were huge and my daughter's included a spiral staircase to the bathroom! Ours was modern and spotless and opened on to the garden. Close to the M5 and with an EV charger - would have liked to stay longer!

Farthings is a great country hotel in the heart of Somerset. You will experience a true cosy cottage atmosphere warmed up by the wood burner and home made liquors and the most traditional with a twist cuisine served by professional and friendly staff. The rooms are really nicely furnished in true duck egg blue walls, floral curtains and wooden furniture over looking a true English garden. Everything about Farthings was perfect !
