Amazing eco resort with lush surroundings. Everything is top notch from the cabins to the food. There is a river slide, waterfall hike, gorgeous surroundings.

It’s about 25 to town, so very remote. The “hot springs” are misleading. There are a series of rock pools that are warm, not hot and are not fed from hot springs. Still fun to be in and the pools are next to the bar.

It is great to be in the forest, sounds of nature and river, overall good access for reduced mobility persons. Nice hot springs, but access could be better. Nice area with many things to visit. Without car perhaps a bit isolated feeling.

Staff, notably in restaurant and bar seemed somewhat uninterested in their job. Food quite expensive and not particularly good (the local dish was the best option we thought). Very little fruit for breakfast, while the country is abundant with cheap fruit. Pop music at the lower (outside) bar was annoying. I come from far to listen to nature, not to pop.

The extensive lush grounds and waterfalls that you can hike to. It really is secluded The hot springs and the pool slides are so much fun. Loved crossing the little ford in the road to access the rooms. Great that they provided umbrellas. Food was good quality. We ate in the pool bar not the restaurant as it was too expensive and formal for kids

The bedrooms are very dark and when it rains, which is often it feels very depressing. Difficult to dry clothing as it’s so humid. Could have done with a drying rack. Nice to be served for breakfast but it’s very slow versus a buffet. Most of the activities are in La Fortuna which takes around 25 mins to drive to and 50 mins to get to sky zipline and Mistico hanging bridges so it is a bit far out.

The property is beautiful and lush. Bungalows and villas are tucked into the natural environment. At any point you might see or hear monkeys, beautiful birds or other wildlife. We appreciated the hot springs bar area and the main restaurant as well. The food was exceptional! The massage (Jasmine) was exceptional. It was so nice that everyone was encouraging when we wanted to practice our choppy Spanish. We spent a lot of time outside enjoying our porch.

We really enjoyed everything. We did report to the front desk upon departure that there was a slight problem with our shower. The slope was off, so water leaked out under the shower wall and out the entrance. It wasn’t a big problem and didn’t affect our satisfaction, but we wanted you to know about the issue. Also it would have been convenient to have luggage racks in the room.

This hotel is in a perfect location in the rainforest. Walking the trails you can see a range of animals (howler monkeys were amazing) the staff are all so friendly and go the extra mile to help you with whatever you want; Gabriel took us around the trails and showed us a variety of animals. We said we wanted to go on a longer trek which he spoke to a company and arranged for us on his day off. The bungalows are so spacious and it’s so nice having a deck area to yourself with a hammock. The whole place is so peaceful and relaxing.

The hot springs could have been hotter, it rained for a few days and the pools dropped in temperature to below 30C (at a guess) The breakfast is very good quality but slightly small; although they don’t mind you ordering two meals to yourself :) The lunch and dinner is very expensive (3 times more) compared to other restaurants in chachagua or la fortuna but as the stay is good value we didn’t mind paying this.

Breakfast was lovely, it was cooked for you, very fresh Staff was the best thing about this hotel. The hot springs was amazing clean and comfortable The whole hotel was beautiful. Seen so many birds around.

20 mins away from fortuna. Taxi are expensive and if you do tours it’s a little too far out of the catchment area. Cost of the restaurant was quite high also. Only major change I would suggest would be possibly offering a shuttle into town. If a car or van went twice a day into La Fortuna it would make the stay perfect as we didn’t have a car whilst in La Fortuna.

Chachagua's rainforest location was exactly what we were looking for! Our 2-room villa was roomy and well-appointed with space to relax both inside and outside (including the plunge pool and external showers.) The food was tasty at both Colibri and Morpho (by the hot springs). Our family enjoyed the river slide! The guided night walk was interesting - we explored the grounds and saw some of the nocturnal animal life. The front desk was very helpful throughout our stay; they arranged an excursion to the Arenal hanging bridges (highly recommended). Overall, the staff members we talked to were great!

It would have been even better if there were heated towel rails in the villa to dry towels so we could reuse them (with the plunge pool, hot springs, and river, we used a lot). The lighting in one of the villa bedrooms could have been improved as it was somewhat dark, esp. when cloudy and raining outside.

Loved how secluded the property is, away from the crowds. The hot pools and refreshing river are definitely a highlight! Very friendly and attentive staff! Any little issues we had were promptly taken care of and resolved immediately. For breakfast a fruit plate, juice and coffee ot tea are served right upon arrival at the restaurant and there is a good choice of different breakfast options to choose from the menu which will be served plated. They waiting time was a maximum of 15 minutes. Very tasty. At night we ate at the snack bar and it was delicious.

The first impression upon arrival should be improved. The reception is not really inviting, in fact it is almost invisible when arriving by car. A bit pricey, but Costa Rica is overpriced lately in many areas.

The hot springs were nice. Also enjoyed the lush surroundings. The possibility to swim in the river and cool down right by the hot springs pool was amazing! And my husband loved the Tobago slide into the river! The staff were so forthcoming and nice! It's been a long time since I met such friendly staff as they were at this hotel, actually. Read a review that also talked about the friendly staff, and it was absolutely true. They were always ready to help us, and to do so as efficiently as they could. Would absolutely consider staying there again! Loved that it was so remote, and relatively small, so it wasn't so crowded.

A higher quality of the restaurant I felt would improve the stay a lot. The food seemed partly americanized, with fewer real Costa Rican dishes than I would prefer. The Christmas dinner was not very good, sadly. I loved the offer, but was a bit disappointed by the quality of the dishes. It was a lot of food, though, so that was great. It just sadly didn't taste very good. As a couple, the pools got a bit noisy, of course when the families filled them up, and the kids were screaming and laughing. But we were there during Christmas, so probably during the high season. This might be less of a problem at other times of the year.
