Lille is the capital of the Hauts-de-France region in northern France, close to the Belgian border and is a bustling university city steeped in culture which once was an important merchant centre known as 'the Capital des Flandres' The historic centre, Vieux Lille, is characterized by 17th-century brick town houses, cobbled pedestrian streets and the large central square, Grand Place. The Palais des Beaux-Arts Museum is home to the 2nd largest art collection in France displays work from Goya, Rembrandt, and Rubens. Encapsulating the Flemish influence central Lille is the Place du General de Gaulle (the Grand Place) the Art Deco home of La Voix du Nord (the leading regional newspaper) crowned with a gilded sculpture of the Three Graces. Denis is the perfect host polite and most helpful ensuring you have an enjoyable stay. On our return visit homeward bound noted that refurbishing/redecorating has begun we suggested beginning of June. Recommended is dinner and drinks on Achimedes Barge Bar/Restaurant - classical bistro cuisine in an urban chic setting aboard a moored Barge with an open deck - on a hot summers evening what a fun experience!

Newly refurbished room in a nice old building. The room was spacious and very clean. We liked the location close to the park where the fair takes place and at walking distance from the city centre. Nice decorations and pieces of art throughout the building.

The wc was in a suffocating cubicle (less than 1sqm) with poor ventilation and separate from the shower and basin. We asked for a room on a higher floor to avoid noise from above guests. We were assigned a room on the top floor (roof level) which had only roof lights and no windows. So the view wasn't great. Also the blinds did not shut properly, so we had sunlight through just above the bed. The breakfast was pricey and we decided to have it somewhere else.

Simply stunning. The hotel is bright, spacious, full of sun, super clean and is also an art gallery at the same time. Dennis was amazingly helpful. We could use the microwave in the breakfast area, he gave us lots of water for free, coffee and tea, and a little fridge were also available in the room. Given that we travelled with a child, these facilities were super helpful. We would stay there again and can only highly recommend it!

Nothing. Just bear in mind that there is no elevator. But the staff accommodated our request and we stayed at the ground floor. There are still a few steps to get over, but my mum with a broken shoulder could manage.

Wonderful location - peaceful residential area with the benefit of being next to the citadel for lovely walks as well as just an 8 minute walk to the heart of the old town. Also a handsome building - and we loved the large fully openable windows, lovely floorboards and high ceilings of our room - it felt so spacious and airy. You can be very independent here - no reception desk and a key pad to get in and out - so it feels more like coming home to your apartment! The staff we met briefly were delightful.

Maybe there could be more coffee, tea and water in the room - there is a fab nespresso machine but only 2 capsules which wasn’t enough for us! And there aren’t any local shops to buy water so more bottles would have been much appreciated.

Large self contained room with open plan bathroom (separate toilet). Spacious, lovely art work around the building and beautiful reception area. Modernised bathroom and very clean. 3 floors, with only stairs which can be a challenge if you have mobility issues. Great location opposite the park.

3 small windows and lacked extra lightening. Some noise from upstairs, despite sound proofing but the building is old and beautiful, otherwise it was lovely.

Easy access on arrival via a door code. High-ceilinged, well-appointed and quiet room with well fitted, modern bathroom (shower); excellent pre-ordered breakfast looking out on to the canal and park. Delightful and helpful staff. A short and enjoyable quiet walk to the centre through a characterful residential neighborhood with good restaurants.

My husband would have liked secure parking, but in fact our car was safe in the open public car parking space a 5-minute walk away.

The property is in a fantastic location! Our room was elegant and had great air conditioning! The breakfast was a bit pricey, but the ingredients were very fresh and high quality, and the staff were extremely friendly and gracious. The bathroom was also elegantly appointed, with a great shower, plenty of towels, and other nice touches. The hosts offered us bottled water any time we encountered them, which is very nice, considering most places charge you for water after your first bottle. An extra bonus is that the tap water in Lille was great! We didn't really need the bottled water since the tap water was so good!

The breakfast was a set price at 15 euros, regardless of whether you had just a croissant and coffee, or the entire selection offered, which had Serano ham and 3 types of cheeses. I wish the property had a lift/elevator, though the booking was clear that there wasn't one. There is one initial set of steps when you enter the property, that doesn't have handrails on either side, which made carrying luggage up/down the steps feel very risky. However, if there was a staff member available, they always offered to carry the luggage.

Well positioned aparthotel (rooms without kitchen or reception). Very helpful and welcoming small team. Our room had a wonderful large window. Breakfast is very good value.

Open plan room meant only toilet had a door, shower was spreading water everywhere. Some fittings have seen better days - cracked sink and chipped coffee table.

Location location location. 10 min walk from center and in front of big park. Self check-in (code). Good size bedroom. Interesting art. Good value for money. One additional pillow (2 would have been even better)

I asked prior to arriving for non-smoking room.i have written confirmation that it was ok. Unfortunately as we arrived, the window was open for aeration and it was evident someone had smoked. There was also the smell of the spray they put to cover the smoking smell. One of the curtains did not close properly so in the morning we got the sun in our eyes. When we mentioned the smoking the staff agreed and offered to give us breakfast and or the city tax as a gesture (which we appreciate).

Beautiful period building with very spacious rooms, high ceilings and large windows. We stayed three nights and our room was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast room has a lovely view over the Citadel Park. We liked the location on the edge of the old town - as it was easy to walk into town but was lovely and quiet. The staff were kind and pleasant.

We would have liked fresh fruit at breakfast.
