The location was great and the staff very helpful and friendly. Our room was clean and comfortable, we had plenty of space and the little desk by the window was a great place to write a travel journal. I really liked their efforts to reduce environmental impact - the timer in the shower was really helpful. That said, the hot water was always instant so no water was wasted waiting for it to warm up. The terraces are nice spaces to hang out in and there was always something going on in the bar area downstairs (dance classes one evening!).

Some of the kitchen facilities were very basic. Fridge and cupboard space were plentiful but there was only one bowl and two spoons. Occasionally there was some noise at night - understandable in a hostel with excited young people on their adventures!

Marthana (I forgot her name but something similar?) was very friendly and caring. I was sick on my last day (4th Feb 2025) and she was very caring, which made my frustrating last day much better - train at 15:30 and couldn't do anything except staying at the hostel because I didn't want to vomit on the street lol The only thing I wish the hostel could be improved is the female shower facilities (on the ground floor). It's always clean thanks to the daily housekeeping in the morning. But one of the two showers was not working properly (without the proper shower head), and the other one without shower gel. The water temperature was the main concern... It was quite cold during my stay but the shower temperature was just merely warm enough.

This was my sixth stay here, that alone tells you how much I enjoy staying here! The reception team are very helpful, very quick at checking you in and will allow you to store luggage in a secure room during your stay. The hostel despite the noise from the bar and nearby bars is very quiet and makes for a comfortable stay. The bed space is amazing; comfortable bed with a secure little cupboard, curtain and light and your own charging station. Be sure to check out the bakery across the street at 7am; the freshly baked goods are top tier. PS - The People should stay offering a loyalty program for regular guests

Lovely staff who were very relaxed, friendly and helpful and the room was lovely and exactly as shown in the picture. It was bright, fairly spacious considering it was a private room in a hostel, and very clean. On the ground floor was a roomy cafe/ bar area with tables inside or you could sit and relax in the small courtyard just off the cafe. We walked everywhere and felt it was in a great location.

It was a bit noisy one evening as the walls are a bit thin, which didn't really bother us but might some people. Second night was absolutely fine. That is the only thing I can think of, everything was ideal and we really enjoyed our stay.

I enjoyed the overall friendly and festive atmosphere. It WAS a bit loud late at night but I expected that - there’s a popular bar on the premises. I liked that my room was spacious enough and that everything was clean.

Because of the placement of my room, on the third floor, it was hot, even on a cool evening (because had been baking all afternoon.) I’d like to suggest that guests have the option of a fan - I would’ve paid a rental fee for one.

The location is good but it is advisable to use bus number 10 from Lille Flandres as it a bit far if walking, with a suitcase. I booked a private bedroom with a private bathroom and we loved it. Very clean with a nice window. The blind was very good at night to keep the room in darkness. In the bathroom, the hair dryer is kept in a pretty bag with the name of the hotel on it. For breakfast, there was grape juice, orange juice and also water with mint and lemon. Good! You do not often have grape juice in hotels.

Breakfast was good. The downside is that it happens in the pub and everything is not together, in the same place, you do not know where to get some coffee, where to get some cereals, fruits etc... When you give your room number, the staff should quickly point to the guests where everything is because they are spread around the room, not in the same place (the toaster is far from the bread). I found the coffee only when I was leaving. There is not a big choice of cereals or fruits (only muesli and apples). The milk is cold, I think it should be kept in a thermal. But appart from this it was good. There was soya milk if you wanted. We couldn't use the TV, you need to link it to your mobile. It is not possible to view the French channels just by switching on the TV.

Great location, very nice staff and facilities.

There was a very large group booking who came down for breakfast and ate nearly all of the food before we came to breakfast at 8am!! The staff made no effort to explain this at check in nor did they try to restock the breakfast buffet after the group had left! The staff should have spoken to the remaining guests (about 5 or 6 of us) after the group had left to at least apologise or ask us if we wanted anything else. At a cost of 9€ I would expect more than a slice of bread, coffee and some orange juice. My daughter who worked in a hostel for 2 months last year was with with me and very surprised and disappointed by the lack of planning and poor communication of the hostel staff.

I really like this hostel, it was my second time here (and I’ve been to other The People Hostels in France many times). The location is good, easy to get there by bus from the station and in a fun part of town. Very happy with the spacious rooms and the curtains at each bed. The kitchen is nice as well and there’s a nice balcony to sit. The bar is cool and they have nice cocktails.

The room I was staying in was on the road side, but I must say I didn’t have any issues while I stayed there. But I can imagine it can be loud sometimes.

Spacious comfortable facilities with a cute bar downstairs in a lovely vibrant street! The staff helped me choose a good room for me so that I am comfortable during my stay!

Despite the efforts of cleaning women the common areas always looked dirtyGuests do not seem to respect bathroom and kitchen area.It was impossible to use the fridge it was full of other people's stuff and smelling really bad 👎 Rubbish bins were completely full from early afternoon hours. Also the toilets were badly used and there was mud on the top of the shower 🚿

My 3d stay at The People Hostel in this EU trip. Like the first 2, this one is comfortable, spacious, and has good WiFi. The bed box is large, with individual curtain, lighting, and shelf space. The bunk bed is solid, not a metal case where you could feel if someone turns or moves. It has a large kitchen that you can use. I will consider its other locations if I do travel there.
