Marthana (I forgot her name but something similar?) was very friendly and caring. I was sick on my last day (4th Feb 2025) and she was very caring, which made my frustrating last day much better - train at 15:30 and couldn't do anything except staying at the hostel because I didn't want to vomit on the street lol The only thing I wish the hostel could be improved is the female shower facilities (on the ground floor). It's always clean thanks to the daily housekeeping in the morning. But one of the two showers was not working properly (without the proper shower head), and the other one without shower gel. The water temperature was the main concern... It was quite cold during my stay but the shower temperature was just merely warm enough.

Lovely staff who were very relaxed, friendly and helpful and the room was lovely and exactly as shown in the picture. It was bright, fairly spacious considering it was a private room in a hostel, and very clean. On the ground floor was a roomy cafe/ bar area with tables inside or you could sit and relax in the small courtyard just off the cafe. We walked everywhere and felt it was in a great location.

It was a bit noisy one evening as the walls are a bit thin, which didn't really bother us but might some people. Second night was absolutely fine. That is the only thing I can think of, everything was ideal and we really enjoyed our stay.

The location is good but it is advisable to use bus number 10 from Lille Flandres as it a bit far if walking, with a suitcase. I booked a private bedroom with a private bathroom and we loved it. Very clean with a nice window. The blind was very good at night to keep the room in darkness. In the bathroom, the hair dryer is kept in a pretty bag with the name of the hotel on it. For breakfast, there was grape juice, orange juice and also water with mint and lemon. Good! You do not often have grape juice in hotels.

Breakfast was good. The downside is that it happens in the pub and everything is not together, in the same place, you do not know where to get some coffee, where to get some cereals, fruits etc... When you give your room number, the staff should quickly point to the guests where everything is because they are spread around the room, not in the same place (the toaster is far from the bread). I found the coffee only when I was leaving. There is not a big choice of cereals or fruits (only muesli and apples). The milk is cold, I think it should be kept in a thermal. But appart from this it was good. There was soya milk if you wanted. We couldn't use the TV, you need to link it to your mobile. It is not possible to view the French channels just by switching on the TV.

Great location, very nice staff and facilities.

There was a very large group booking who came down for breakfast and ate nearly all of the food before we came to breakfast at 8am!! The staff made no effort to explain this at check in nor did they try to restock the breakfast buffet after the group had left! The staff should have spoken to the remaining guests (about 5 or 6 of us) after the group had left to at least apologise or ask us if we wanted anything else. At a cost of 9€ I would expect more than a slice of bread, coffee and some orange juice. My daughter who worked in a hostel for 2 months last year was with with me and very surprised and disappointed by the lack of planning and poor communication of the hostel staff.

Spacious comfortable facilities with a cute bar downstairs in a lovely vibrant street! The staff helped me choose a good room for me so that I am comfortable during my stay!

Despite the efforts of cleaning women the common areas always looked dirtyGuests do not seem to respect bathroom and kitchen area.It was impossible to use the fridge it was full of other people's stuff and smelling really bad 👎 Rubbish bins were completely full from early afternoon hours. Also the toilets were badly used and there was mud on the top of the shower 🚿

I really like this hostel, it was my second time here (and I’ve been to other The People Hostels in France many times). The location is good, easy to get there by bus from the station and in a fun part of town. Very happy with the spacious rooms and the curtains at each bed. The kitchen is nice as well and there’s a nice balcony to sit. The bar is cool and they have nice cocktails.

The room I was staying in was on the road side, but I must say I didn’t have any issues while I stayed there. But I can imagine it can be loud sometimes.

The staff is really friendly and nice. They made us directly feel welcome. The facilities were good, comfortable bed. Location is great, there are restaurants, some bars and a supermarket close by. And it is close to the big Citadel parc. A twenty minute walk from the railway station and around 15 to the city center made it a great location to explore Lille.

Sadly it was 30 degrees two day in a row, which means the rooms heat up a lot. There is no Aircon, but we received a fan that made it bearable.

Breakfast ok, just a bit too expensive for what it was. 7€ would have been a fairer price. Reception was GREAT with one exception. EXCELLENT drag queen show, thank you !

One female staff member in Reception had a permanent scowl which got worse if we asked her for something. A pity — everyone else was so good natured and kind — including the cleaning staff, so sweet. Radiateurs. The one in the bathroom couldn’t be modulated. Bit was in fact ver hot.

The staff was very nice and helpful. The location is nice and very close to the city center, but still far enough so that you have some quiet time. The bed wasn't the most comfortable one, but good enough for the money spent. I would advise you to bring a padlock to lock your stuff in the container (provided in the room) so that your things are more secure. I wasn't well prepared for the trip, so the only downside is that I had to buy a padlock at the reception since I didn't bring one myself (it was 5 euros).

Really helpful, friendly staff. Buzzing with lots of young people. Generous choice of breakfast edibles. Great location in old town and easy walk to the centre.

There was a strong unpleasant smell on the morning after our first night there in our room and in the corridor of the 2nd floor where our room was located and my daughter feared it may be gas. We reported it to Reception who agreed there was a smell but it definitely wasn't gas. This reassured us and, in fact, it went away and never happened again on our 2nd and 3rd nights. The room was rather small with two narrow single beds but they were comfortable and very clean.
