The setting is lovely , within easy reach of forest and beach , and the grounds attractive and well kept. Staff were fantastic , really helpful and welcoming and clearly working hard to make everything go smoothly for guests. The ground floor areas were pleasantly lacking in steps between areas so my elderly mum could navigate the ramps with her rollator. Quiet at night and a generally peaceful atmosphere. The swimming pool was a bonus. Thanks to all, we would definitely come again.

Shame the sash windows could not be fully opened, with a restrictor of only a few inches as standard on ground floor rooms. We had twin beds as requested and was fine although the mattresses were slightly wider than the bases so felt a little bit unstable getting in and out. The breakfasts were great but evening restaurant menu a bit fussy and fancy and some simpler cheaper options would be popular for some guests I think.

Beautiful grounds, hotel and destination. Very peaceful and incredible food. The staff were outstanding and were extremely helpful. The cucumber water upon arrival was definitely refreshing after a long drive. The fried breakfast was amazing! Perfectly cooked and delicious. We enjoyed a morning swim in the pool which had a very Spanish/Greek feel to the surrounding area. The pool was at a perfect temperature and the chairs were handy for getting our son ready. I would definitely recommend it. Beautiful architecture for any age to appreciate, very family friendly and also very romantic for couples.

Beautiful place, with fantastic gardens for little ones to enjoy. The rooms were lovely & quaint, fantastic period property with tons of character. I have to say, I was genuinely excited when I arrived, from the initial drive in, so seeing the place as a whole. Stunning. Unfortunately, did not catch the receptionist name, but she was delightful, making us feel very welcomed & going out of her way to offer everything we needed.

Small things, a couple of areas that may need a bit of upkeep/maintenance. Kids cutlery was available, however we were not offered this until breakfast, which we didn't actually receive but made do.

This is our 2nd visit to Bartley Lodge. We thought it was lovely relaxed atmosphere that we would return. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Plus Thank you so much for providing a bottle of water!! It’s such a relief as you always forgot to bring a bottle of water

The property is great- for helpful feedback I would love some hand wash in the bathroom and the road humps coming into the property’s driveway would benefit with being highlighted in some sort of neon yellow paint to indicate to the drivers. It’s quite hard to see them. I’m not sure if that’s possible.

Perfect location , goats and chickens can be seen as you drive in . Definitely feel like you have come to a country hotel. As you pull up it’s a perfect country setting , pretty , cosy . Lovely reception area and polite helpful staff on arrival .Warm and cosy clean . Lovely touch with board games and cards on the sofas by the fire , perfect after a day walking through the forest . So quiet and calm . Breakfast was lovely with lots of options and friendly polite staff. It was so relaxed like staying at a friends home for the weekend .The room was clean and beds were immaculate and comfortable.

Only thing is the pool area could be cleaner , the pool itself is lovely . warm and changing area clean . But some walls have stains and so noticeable when you first walk in and when swimming. If that was sorted it would be perfect .

The staff were so lovely and couldn’t do more to help, the rooms were clean and the location was beautiful.

The only fault was that the pool was closed on one of the days that we stayed, I did book this specifically for the pool as my daughter needs constant entertainment. They did offer us the option to go to their sister hotel 5 mins away and use the pool but we had been out all day and didn’t want to get back into the car. So this was quite disappointing.

The rooms were well equipped although we felt the family room allocated was a little tight for two adults and two children. The breakfast was good and comparable with other hotels previously stayed at. The menu choices were very good.

The hotel staff were clearly under pressure dealing with weddings on both days we stayed which, we felt was at the expense of other paying guests. In particular, service and attention to detail in the restaurant sufferd.

The location was excellent - quiet and relaxing but easy to get too. Food was great - super tasty and a good selection especially for DF and GF diets. Staff were all super lovely and so helpful. Lovely location and super clean. Very dog friendly.

The Wi-Fi was very unreliable - which whilst great for getting away from it all made watching TV very frustrating! The room was so hot - there was no air con - the fan provided was noisy and not very effective. Beds were very soft.

We were looking for a hotel with a swimming pool - this was a great facility Room was very good - well furnished, good view and well provided Restaurant was pleasant and the dinner menu attracted us to eat in both nights, breakfast was superb Staff always available and friendly and helpful The building is pretty grand and I like its historical connections

The rooms are advertised as not being cleaned/restocked without demand; not a problem for us.
