When we arrived at Avalon House I was firstly pleasantly surprised to see parking at the hotel itself - with more parking available locally. I have stayed at many B&B's where parking is the first challenge - not the case here! I parked up, my friend and I went inside and were greeted like old friends by Nick, who was genuinely one of the nicest owners I have ever had the pleasure to meet. The house is deceptively large - meaning we had a lovely sized room and en-suite. We were given a breakfast menu which allowed us to specify our likes and dislikes for breakfast the next day - which I thought was great! After chatting to Nick, he explained just how close the high street was - a 5 minute (if that) walk meant we could choose from a good range of restaurants and pubs, which was lovely after we'd had a day out at our chosen activity. The next morning we got up and went for the breakfast - and I have to say it was delicious! We had a really nice chat with Nick about travelling and life in general - he certainly didn't make us feel rushed in any way or reveal all the work that was evidently being done to make the stay as nice as it was - as we came back that day to a perfectly cleaned room. All in all, I would hugely recommend Avalon House to anyone looking to make the most of Lyndhurst or the wider New Forest area. It's a great base, with fabulous hosts. Well-catered breakfast. Considerate and accommodating hosts over a relatively long stay. Great location for accessing Lyndhurst. Servicing of room on a daily basis was appreciated.

No area to sit in other than the bedroom except for breakfast. Room a little snug with two suitcases. No access to a small fridge nor laundry facilities especially if staying more than one or two nights. Short stays obviously more suitable for the property.

This was our 3rd year of staying here we like it so much. The hosts, Nick and Judith, are very friendly and put themselves out to make the stay such a pleasure. The breakfast choice is excellent and cooked perfectly. It is in an ideal situation for walking into Lyndhurst or driving into the New Forest to explore. In Lyndhurst there are many places to eat dinner with a choice of different cuisine.

There is absolutely nothing that we didn't like.

Nick and Judith are excellent hosts, very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The breakfast was delicious, an excellent selection of food and very well cooked. Avalon House is ideally situated in easy walking distance into Lyndhurst where there are many and varied places to choose to eat including Italian, Chinese, Thai and a variety of pubs.

This was our second visit as there is nothing to dislike about the hosts or situation of this lovely bed and breakfast. We shall certainly aim to stay there again if we decide to revisit the New Forest in future.

Very clean rooms and bathrooms, excellent attention to detail with everything. Superbly friendly and welcoming owners who cooked a fantastic breakfast in the morning! You can’t hear much noise from the street even while being close to a busy road. Close to the high street and came with some lovely recommendations for food and pubs

There was nothing not to like about the properly and our stay was excellent

Very comfortable room,spacious and had everything you’d expect.WiFi easy to connect to and very reliable.Great sized bathroom again with all you’d need.Breakfast was fine,no issues.Good location with many eating places within gentle walking distance

Property itself was fine but there was a busy road right outside but thankfully was quieter during night hours

We had the smallest of the 3 rooms but it was still a good size and very clean with a lovely shower room. Easy parking. The hosts, Judith and Nick, were charming as was the dining room where we enjoyed a delicious breakfast. So close to pubs, restaurants and coffee shops. Beaulieu is only 16 minutes drive and well worth a visit. Would recommend Avalon House without hesitation.

We liked everything!

Good spacious clean room. Great breakfast with good choices. Helpful and pleasant host. Good to be able to park for free on site and also we were able to leave our car there for a couple of hours after check-out which we appreciated.

The texts we received before our visit were somewhat impersonal as they were not from a named person which seemed strange. Linked to this the host did not introduce himself when we arrived although, as mentioned he was helpful. As the building is very near to the town centre do allow an extra 15 minutes by car to get to the site due to the traffic through the town.

Avalon House was a lovely spot for a one-night stay to attend an event in the area. Comfy beds, gracious hosts, nice breakfast and spacious spotless room.

If you're a light sleeper, be aware the property is on a fairly main road for the region and traffic seems to start early in the morning. Not a bother to me as I can sleep through anything but a bit of a challenge to my light-sleeper husband.

Very comfortable and clean. Very convenient location to find and access the town and surrounding countryside. Nick our host was super. He welcomed us warmly, took care of our heavy baggage for us, gave us great recommendations to guide us in our travels, provide an excellent breakfast. A great stay.
