I recently stayed at the Taj Connemara for three nights and was thoroughly impressed. This charming Indian 5-star hotel, complete with an inviting outdoor pool, beautifully blends colonial heritage with modern comfort. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful — from the front desk to the restaurant, everyone made me feel genuinely welcome and well taken care of. A surprising highlight was the laundry service: my freshly cleaned trousers were returned folded and wrapped like a gift from Harrods. It’s the kind of thoughtful detail that reflects the care and elegance that defines the entire hotel experience. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a refined yet personal stay in Chennai.

Lovely boutique hotel in central Chennai. Swimming pool was a real oasis amongst the city. A few mosquitoes around so do take repellent. Service less obtrusive than at the Leela Palace which can be construed as good or bad. Breakfasts less choice than the Leela palace so the Leela palace wins on this one. The Raintree restaurant was very lovely and great value as was the Verandah buffet in the evening (never been a fan of buffets but you really should try this one!) lunch fare was pretty standard. The massages with Sunny were amazing and are highly recommended!

Felt that the rooms weren’t spotlessly clean - and again coming from the Leela Palace this was a noticeable difference. We did talk to the housekeeping manager but nothing really changed although the housekeeping manager was very lovely and ever so helpful with mosquito soothing gel … seems like a mix of a business and family hotel - quite a few children in the pool in early evening - there was a live pianist in the lobby which was nice. Thanks for a great stay.

We found the staff uniformly warm and attentive and always smiling. The food served was simply delicious. The breakfast buffet spoiled us for choice. This is simply a beautiful and nurturing place to stay in and its strength is the wonderful staff who are always at their best.

One of the members of the staff at Verandah keeps pestering us for good reviews without actually serving us in any fashion. On the other hand, all other staff members went above and beyond in seeing we were happy. We believe that Taj Connemara's greatest strength is its dedicated and hardworking staff.

Loved everything about our stay. Came for the buffet about 30 years ago and 30 years later we stayed. Room comfortable - bed super large and comfy - and quiet. All staff polite, professional and nothing too much trouble. Gym of my own and equipment fine and a lovely view for a jog on the machine! Pool so beautiful. Location as easy as anywhere in a big city to get to places. Lots of hotel life to observe, especially at the weekend. Hotel big enough to have options for food etc but small enough to feel fairly personal. Thanks

All good! Nothing i didn't like

The staff were, without exception, fantastic. Special thanks go to Zoya, the Receptionist who offered us the great upgrade, Shaji, our breakfast waiter who gave us the best tables and had brilliant coffee pouring skills, the bar staff Stephan, Niraj and the guy who made most of our cocktails whose name we didn't get, Bode, our cleaner who has been here for 35 years and took great pride in making the room spotless and Monika, the Receptionist when we checked out. The breakfasts, afternoon tea and cocktails really made our stay, and this was the best hotel experience we had in our four weeks in India. There was a charming heritage feel to the hotel, and the grounds were beautiful. If you get the chance to stay in a suite, take it - it was very special!

Taj has an issue with guest travelling on an auto rickshaw? arriving late in the night, was unable to get an alternative transportation. the gate has closed for Auto rickshaw!!!! tata don’t know the value of hard work!!!??? those drivers are earned their living with their hard work, better understand that

A lovely heritage hotel with a large pool area edged with palm trees. A good place to relax after a busy day in Chennai. Good spa. Colonial rooms are spacious and well decorated with large beds and attractive furnishings - balconies overlooking pool area Passageways are decorated with historical photos and palms which add to the charm of this hotel

The Verandah restaurant was underwhelming , as was the food. Slightly chaotic at breakfast time Service around the pool is minimal The bar was disappointing due to blaring music choice so we did not use

We loved the character of the property. Our room in particular was very calming and relaxing

The vegetarian tasting menus which we had in the Raintree Restaurant was very poor indeed. I have had better tasting Thalis for less than 500INR. This meal was intended to be the highlight of our stay but regrettable it turned out to be memorable for the wrong reasons

The staff at Taj Connemara astounds me with their caring nature and their ability to anticipate our needs. We were met by an unaparallelable warmth and courtesy at every stage of our stay, from the reception to the dining at the Verandah. The staff at Verandah were most attentive and kind. We had some lovely food, including mutton rogan josh and chicken curry home-style. We have been coming to Taj Connemara off and on for many years now. We hope to visit again shortly in the near future.

There was nothing to complain of

EXCELLENT STAFF, SUPERBLY MANAGED AND BEAUTIFUL CLUB AREA. Charming business hotel with pleasant pool and spa facilities as well as a couple of good shops to nose around! Food was superb and I'm especially appreciative of the Team in NiueNau, Ram Shafi, Dhana and Chef Shanmug who did everything they could to make sure I had a warm welcome and I had sumptuous food! The Reception Staff are outstanding as well as the Team in the Club Room where I enjoyed healthy breakfasts and my wine in the evening. The Staff cleaning the rooms are also superb and made sure my room, linen and towels were always immaculate! Thank you Vikram at Concierge for looking after all my travel needs - see you again soon!
