The whole hotel top to bottom has a rustic, but extremely elegant feel from the moment you walk in! Staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful! Accommodations are extremely easy to navigate and the staff does a great job at explaining all the different features, benefits, and availabilities. The coffee bar was astounding, flavorful and a warm welcoming experience! The pool table in the lobby is beyond unique, but offers a familiar warmth! The Mulberry tavern has exceedingly flavorful dishes! Tried the bananas foster French toast via room service, and it was well worth the $$ spent. I would recommend this hotel and all around experience to any who inquire! 100/10!! Great experience!! Memories to cherish forever!! Will DEFINITELY book again!

The location was great- I liked the convenience of being able to walk around the city. We walked to our brunch spot- the Americana, and then across the street from the restaurant to the sculpture park. Back at the hotel, the decor, the bar, and the amenities were all perfect. The room, and especially the bathroom were very elegant. This will definitely be the place we stay if we come back to see more in Des Moines!

It was raining when we got there, and getting our luggage into the building was a bit of a challenge, since there isn't a hotel parking lot specifically for the hotel, and we had to walk a bit. But it worked out ok!

The Surety Hotel impressed me in pretty much every regard. The way in which this historic building has been modernized and accentuated through thoughtful design and tasteful decor is an absolute masterclass. Every aspect of the property feels special and genuine, the staff were exceptional, the food and drinks at both the restaurant and espresso bar were top notch and the sense of escape one gets just from staying here is priceless. I have had the opportunity to travel fairly extensively, and the Surety is among the best hotels I've ever visited.

No on-site parking, though plenty of reasonably priced parking is available close by.

Every detail of the Surety is so beautifully designed- I loved the aesthetic. The lobby is inviting, comfortable, and well equipped. The room was stylish and extremely comfortable. The hotel goes above and beyond in every way to provide for your comfort and welcome. We had the perfect anniversary celebration there!

After carefully consideration, I really can’t think of anything I didn’t like or would want to change.

The young woman at the restaurant desk who brought us (upon request) hot water and honey at night for tea was EXCEPTIONAL! She deserves special recognition. Long brown hair. Very sweet. Young. And kind. The black woman with the gorgeous long curls who checked us out this morning and helped us to the parking garage was wonderful. She was at the front desk at 3:00 am. Our daughter and granddaughter were in room 603 and the blue lights from the building next door shown in their window at night, even with drapes closed. That was our only complaint. The restaurant staff was lovely. The African-American waiter was really special as was everyone. Girls at the front desk, everyone was great we loved your hotel and if we come back to Des Moines and it may become a yearly thing with the Valais Blacknose sheep show each year we will definitely stay with you! we had three rooms.

Blue lights shining in room 603 from the building next door at night. They came in through the top of the curtain. That was our only complaint. Oh, and there weren’t luggage rocks in the rooms.

Surety was sooo clean and comfortable, everything was perfect. the staff was excellent help when we needed it and the parking was very convenient.

if youre with a family or just with your girlfriend friends i recommend going somewhere else just because the location is very iffy and walking at night from your parking is scary lol. just be careful!! once we got into the hotel we knew we were safe though!

The rooms, lobby, and bar made us feel like we were in a very high class hotel. The guest room had a speak easy vibe- dark woods, refurbished wood floors - very comfortable bed and pillows. Beautiful dark green shower tile. We just loved it! The lobby is so cool- to sit and relax, enjoy a cup of coffee or a drink from the bar. The cafe latte art was amazing! I didn't want to drink it! The bar carries over that speak easy vibe. Exceptional drinks! Hived Minded and Get Lucky were delicious! We didn't have food here, but next time we will.

The lighting in the bathroom could have been brighter.

The parking. You park underground and there isn’t a height marker. Our truck got stuck and the roof got all scratched up. Also the reservation we made on booking.com did t get to Surety hotel and they didn’t have us down for a room. They were able to get us a room and upgraded at no additional cost.

The rooms furnishings were lovely. It was very sophisticated. It was so quiet that I would have sworn I was the only one on the floor. I was surprised to see a couple come out of the room next to mine while I was waiting for the elevator.

I could have used more signage to let me know I was in the correct parking area.

The property is beautiful, and clean. The staff were very friendly. The beds were very comfortable.

There are a couple of things I found obnoxious; the parking situation, the bathroom fan doesn’t turn off, and the room doors should be soundproof. Listening to other people’s doors slamming, while trying to fall asleep, was incredibly annoying.
