Our stay at Amalen Suites was magical! It is apparent in every little detail that the transformation of this building into a boutique hotel was a labor of love. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Our breakfast was so fresh and delicious! Each dish is made and plated to order. We loved taking a dip in the private pool. It was off-season (November) so the pool was chilly, but very refreshing. Upon leaving the hotel, our wonderful host offered to make us a special made-to-order batch of fresh breakfast potato salad to take with us! This is more than a place to stay--it's an experience.

The only drawback is lack of parking. If you're willing to pay for parking, there is a lot a few blocks away. Street parking is hit-or-miss.

The toilet needs to be a wall

Wow! We stumbled upon this place completely by chance. From the moment we arrived, we were enchanted by everything it had to offer—from the uniquely designed units to the luxurious private pool. Every facility in the room contributed to the most enjoyable and comfortable experience we could have asked for—from the shower, to the bathtub, and the bed. The location was also excellent, close to everything we were looking for in the Old City. What truly stood out was the level of service—professionalism, patience, and outstanding interpersonal care. They prepared a thoughtful and generous breakfast for our trip to the airport, and even treated us to a bottle of wine in the evening. Without a doubt, I highly recommend this place and would definitely love to return!

Everything was wonderful. Slightly aside from the Old Town hustle and bustle, yet close to everything. Facilities are extraordinary, no question about it! The staff is attentive and friendly, always welcoming and helpful. I’m highly recommending this fantastic boutique hotel to everyone whom seeks a unique experience and atmosphere.

Perhaps the only thing I would do to improve the experience would be to add a sightscreen on the upper floor balcony (on the street side, not the sea side) just to add a bit of privacy.

Gorgeous architecture and in a super convenient location, directly in the old city centre but no noise. The best part of it all was the lovely and attentive staff though! They really made it such a nice and relaxing experience. The breakfast is absolutely brilliant, staff prepares a different variety of dishes each morning, which were nothing short of amazing.

We stayed with 3 in the room (extra bed set up). Whilst there is more than enough space for that, the room is really made for two: open shower from the bedroom + toilet right behind it. This works well for couples but less so for other groups I think. Next time I would book two separate rooms instead, because the rooms themselves were gorgeous and spacious.

We stayed in Crete, Greece, in Rethymno, and absolutely loved the hotel! We were welcomed so warmly and offered coffee and dessert while waiting for our room. The room itself was incredibly stylish and super cozy — the design was simply wow! Breakfast was delicious. I especially want to mention the young man working there: he was very friendly, always smiling, and it was truly a pleasure to meet such a wonderful and bright person. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Crete!

I really have nothing bad to say about this place :)

It was our greatest pleasure to be guests in this hotel in the old town of Rethymno. The house is new and has very beautiful and extraordinary architecture, the rooms are all different and all very individual. The service from everyone in the team is very heartwarming. Breakfast should be mentioned in particular: different every day and always individually tailored to our wishes. Every day we were asked what we wanted for the next day and it was prepared specifically for us. It was brilliant. The communication in advance of our vacation to Stephanie and family has been very friendly and accommodating. Being a guest here made our already very nice stay very special. And lastly: Jacob is the Best!! Danke für alles!

Unique and wonderful breakfast in a beautiful, calm environment. The design and architecture of the building and its rooms is coherently stunning. One of the friendliest services I've ever experienced.

Just small details. Maybe the mattress could use an update for next season. A board/shelf by the sink would've made getting ready in the morning slightly more practical. But that's splitting hairs. Overall very close to perfection.
