Amazing stay at this hotel. We stayed for my birthday and it was awesome. The hotel itself was fantastic and the scent they dispersed through the hotel was amazing, smelt so good. Our room was great, very clean, comfortable and a great mix of traditional/modern amenities and aesthetics. We had a private onsen on our balcony which was unreal. We opted for traditional dinner and breakfast at the hotel and the food was incredible. They even went to the effort of bringing out a desert with a candle for my birthday. Would 100% stay again.

Wish we could've stayed longer!

Our room was superb. From our room we had a view of the port. The in room hot spring bath was a real winner!! As it was our first time, was easier for my kids to have our family privacy than in the public bath. The stone sauna that they have is a gem! If only I found it earlier! Being in there really helped my tired muscles from all the walking. Room was spacious and we got to have both the western beds as well as the tatami mattresses to experience both. Family agreed that the tatami mats was very comfortable and we got the best night sleep on those. The Japanese dinner and breakfast was delicious and pretty as a picture. Was definitely a treat. Staff were extremely helpful and assisted even with giving advice for other tourist attractions and travel. Would definitely go again

The customer service is top notch, the willingness to help on any request or requirement you might have. They were absolute legends, and even though I have tattoos they accomodate a time after midnight for me to enjoy the hot springs. The food was Michelin star quality love it to the core and really focus on local produces.

The fact that I didn’t book more nights hahaha should have stayed at least two.

amazing hotel with exellent service. we had a big suite with a private onsen and traditional living area with tatami floors. soaking in the onsen with a view of the city was the ideal way to unwind after a long train ride from tokyo. breakfast was amazing, serves in a private booth and consisted of a lot top quality local products. staff was very friendly and helpful. the hotel was very modern with beautiful classical elements.

there was not much to see or do in the area around the hotel.

Good location with tram station nearby. Nicely presented breakfast and dinner, with a private room for the five of us and dedicated staff to serve us. We didn’t expect to have one massage included in our package. We enjoyed the massage. The Onsen in the room was comfortable.

It was snowing on the day we arrived. It was not easy to get round and the hotel entrance was covered with snow, hence slippery.

Luxurious Brutalist modernist ryokan, Michelin 3 pagoda distinction holder (the Japanese ryokan version of 3 stars), lived up to its reputation, stellar service, private dining, fabulous food, oceanic urban view from the bath and so luxurious—photos cannot convey!

I wish they had a private family bath. The two baths are open, split by gender, and are forbidden for people with tattoos. The teas on hand surprisingly 2/3 black.

Exceptionally great onsen ryokan, staffs were very kind and attentive. Facilities were well maintained. I had a quiet and relax stay.

A little distance (~20min by bus) from the city centre but not gonna be a problem if you are just here for hot spring. It is near to bus stations which can bring you to city centre easily.

Absolutely beautiful room and hotel. The hotel onsen was also very nice. We would highly recommend staying here if you are traveling to Hakodate.

The property is somewhat far from the center of the city. It's pretty easy to use the city trams to get into town and easy to find parking in town if you have a car.

This is a destination ryokan. Wonderful, sincere, kind and well-trained staff. The onsen in the suite is huge and wondrous (at 6'1", I could stretch myself out completely, albeit diagonally). Navigating the stairs are a bit of a challenge if you do not travel as light as the Japanese. The suite is enormous but there is a large tatami room for two adults to sleep w/ futon that is useless if you travel as a couple. However, the highlight are the meals. You absolutely must purchase the breakfast and dinner! It is fabulous!!! Reservations are required because you are served in your own "room" (just you and your party). The food is fantastic in every sense of the word. They try to include farm-to-table as well (the local small farmed rice was the absolute bomb).

The stairs are tough with large luggage. Staff suggested catching the shuttle, even though we arrived at night. In the dark, it was quite hard to locate the ryokan, esp while dragging our bags. TIP: catch a cab from the airport!!!

The meals were outstanding. The hot spring bath in the room is very large, about 1.8 meters x 1.8 meters! The water is continuously flowing and it's easy to adjust the temperature. The rooms are also very spacious with plenty of areas for you to relax.
