This hostel has the absolute best atmosphere. Rooms are super clean with cleaners coming in to keep it tidy daily as well as big locker space. But hands down the best thing about Hostel Winterthur is their kitchen. Not only do they provide cooking supplies and dinnerware, but they have a great give and take communal food section where you can take what you need and anything you have that you no longer need, you can leave for someone else. Great idea and creates a lovely community.

Only thing is the showers don’t drain great and they are on a really short timer so you have to constantly press the button to keep the water on.

I really liked the attitude of the stuff and systematic approach. Biggest kitchen I've seen yet, what really helped out and made me feel like a real human being. In the kitchen I had an access to frying oil and some leftovers from previous stays (like grated cheese and toasts), so I didn't need to buy butter or oil to just use a shot of it. The location was beautiful and just a few minutes from train station. Stuff took care of my belongings while I was already checked out and later allowed to take me a shower, what was very pleasant and helpful.

I was with my daughter who is disabled. She was given a key to a handicap bathroom that made all the difference. She was able to be independent and get showers, toilet, etc.

First time ever staying at a hostel. It was a different experience. Very well organized with bins for food, etc. There really wasn't anything I didn't like.

First hostel I've been to that really is as nice, clean and with good quality facilities as it looks in the fotos. And all that at a really reasonable price. It's a 5-10min walk from the train station, where you have trains to Zurich HB every 10mins. If you want to visit Zurich (and surroundings) on a budget, this is a great place to stay.

1. The window shades could have done a better job at darkening the room. 2. There is a bar outside, but the noise wasn't excessive. If you are a light sleeper and need to get to sleep early, consider bringing a pair of earplugs.

The hostel was clean. The wifi worked fine. The area seemed interesting, although I had no time to explore it. There are shops, restaurants and a train station nearby. The staff was nice. The beds were comfortable.

The price was high. It was just a bed in a dorm after all. I feel like for that price, at least towels should be included but they weren't - renting them costed extra. There could be more wide power sockets - I wasn't aware that there are those thin power sockets in Switzerland, my laptop's plug doesn't fit it. The hostel was closed when I came in - it's always a nice thing to be able to spend some time in the common area even if checking in is not possible.

We spent only one night, but it was great being there. The place has a "charm" of its own. All clean, goods and spacious rooms, well located (if you like beer, there is an amazing brewhouse just on the next door). Breakfast was not included, but we could pre-order the night before and the next day we received it fresh from the nearby suppliers ;-)

I had a twenty hour layover at Zurich International Airport. I landed around nine pm and I stayed at this hostel for the night. It was an easy commute via train from the airport and the key was left for me to check in. The room was clean and spacious with lockers that you can leave your belongings in (bring your own lock.) Overall, I recommend this hostel!

The behaviour of the staff, the person who was in the reception during my check in , he was just amazing, kind and helpful. He know very well what the other person is looking for . I was late and the resturant near by was close , so he helped me to get food so that I do not sleep in hunger. He is just best in customer service .

The kitchen was well equipped. Pots, cups, bowls and forks etc were available for use and there was free food to share. The bed was comfortable. The ceiling was high enough so everyone has enough space even when it's a double bunk bed. The toilet was clean. A hairdryer is provided in the shower room. Hangers were provided in the room. 5 minutes walk from the bus station. The staff were nice. Chargers are available to borrow.

Water in the shower stops every few minutes and no heating in the shower room so it's freezing. The staff are only present during check-in and check-out times so it was a little inconvenient.

I stayed in a female dorm and it was spacious(not all beds are occupied), clean, feels safe. They gave you bedsheets and you can rent a lock for free. The kitchen is really well-equipped with lots of free food. Quite a great value for Switzerland. Walkable distance from the station and the staffs are all available around.

During my stay, many boys were also staying in other rooms and they were really noisy so it was very uncomfortable and difficult to have a good night sleep. I'm not sure if the staffs were already trying to keep the noise down but it still was very loud. The kitchen utensils are available but often not very clean.
