Spa in the hotel, nice park around, Dunabe river around.

Our nice room was on the corner of the building and a bit cold. We got extra heating and problem was fixed.

The Spa facilities, although nothing extraordinary, are well maintained and sufficient for a 3-day weekend. The facilities are nice and the whole hotel actually looks very stylish with a very old-school vibe and finishes. The Room has been very clean and neat, albeit a bit small, but you get what you pay for. The presence of a Balcony is actually very useful especially if you're planning to stay for a longer time. The staff is very friendly and helpful, I can only thank them for their service and hope they're appropriately remunerated for their great work! The location is also great as it's on a small 'island' and surrounded by nature and parks. I would definitely stay there again and for a longer time.

The bed mattresses could have been a bit harder but they're mostly the same in 80% of hotels. Ask about the amenities and if you need to make appointments for some of the spa amenities. The Salt Cave would have been a great experience but unfortunately we didn't know that it requires an appointment. Please ask about it and make an appointment, I won't miss it next time.

We stayed for 1 week and loved our time in Budapest and Margaret island. Rooms were traditional in style but very comfortable. Bathrooms were modern. Very good house keeping team, on top of everything. The spa was great we went everyday of our stay. Saunas were very nice and plenty of beds. Brilliant selection at breakfast. So well located on Margaret island surrounded by nature and things to do.

Overall a very positive stay but here are a few minor comments. The tunnel underground to the spa was very dated and just wasn't an enjoyable experience to get to the spa- i hadn't realised before getting there that the spa was in the neighbouring hotel. It wouldn't put me off but just an area to be improved. I would mention that the reception doors were very heavy and caused a few issues when entering exiting while trying to hold the door open for other guests. It would have been nice to have the bar and the hotel reception connected (or at least visible from reception). It was only a few days into our stay that we noticed there was a bar around the back side of the hotel.

Swimming pool and thermal bath areas were amazing. Everything always very clean. Plenty of space for relaxation in the pool, and never struggled to find seating. We also did the Cleopatra bath spa treatment, which was a fun and relaxing couples experience. We got a room with a balcony, and it is incredibly relaxing to sit with a coffee in the morning overlooking the trees and park. Breakfast was delicious and plenty of options.

The salt cave spa treatment was disappointing, and unfortunately inconsiderate people kept their phones on with no consideration for those who wanted to appreciate the relaxing atmosphere. Unfortunately this experience was a waste of 10,000HUF for us.

An amazing oasis of calm away from the busy city nearby. The trees, parkland, gardens and nature surrounding the hotel and spa complex provide a relaxing (and mostly traffic free) environment to relax and unwind. The spa complex is truly amazing, with free use of the many pools (inside and outside) and good value optional treatments available also. A wide range of options were available each day for breakfast in the Grand Hotel. The cafe in the adjacent Thermal Hotel (accessed via the link tunnel if raining) provided good value drinks and lighter food options throughout the day. There are excellent travel links to the hotel. There is a bus stop less then 100m away, a tram stop 400m away (but you can catch the bus there, or further into the city where there are links to other tram lines) and for a door-to-door service the Bolt taxi service is excellent and good value ~£10 each way from the hotel to the Bazilika (Cathedral) for up to 4 people. The staff at the hotel are friendly, but not over familiar; courteous and helpful at all times. Nothing is too much effort, and they all speak excellent English (sadly my Hungarian is very limited, but this was never an issue). If I could give this hotel 11 (or more, much more) out of 10 I would gladly do so, and recommend it to anyone who wants the benefits of access to the city, but from a place of calm and tranquility.

In the spa pools some younger (age 7 or 8?) children were splashing and being quite boisterous at times without adult supervision. I would like the spa staff to ensure this is controlled and parents/guardians act responsibly with the children under their care. There is no real evening entertainment available at the hotel and spa complex, so if this is important, you will need to travel into the city.

Lovely, charming hotel in a quiet area. The staff were all friendly. The spa was nice. Special thank you to the man on reception who tracked down the bag my husband left in a taxi and helped to get it back to us. There’s a bus stop 5 min walk away. I recommend buying a travel pass as even the bars/ restaurants on the island are about a 20 mins walk. The castle district is about an hours walk or 45 min on the bus/ tram. Public transport is very good and cheap.

Breakfast wasn’t great for the price of the hotel. Lots of variety but poor quality on some items. Cleaning was confusing- there are signs to hang on the door to chose ‘no clean’, ‘eco clean’ and ‘full clean’. It was necessary to choose ‘eco clean’ in order to replenish the coffee, yet despite choosing this, plus a sign in the bathroom that said only towels on the floor would be replaced, all unfolded towels were changed daily. I could see no difference between the full clean and eco clean. I’m in favour of eco choices, but they need to be implemented. The complimentary water wasn’t replaced every day either for no reason that we could fathom.

We stayed at the Ensana Grand which, with its sister hotel, the Ensana Thermal, is situated on Margit-sziget (Margaret Island), a beautiful calm oasis in the middle of the River Danube within a short distance of Obuda and Budapest city centre. Both hotels allow guests free access to the spa complex which was a wonderful treat for us. Robes and slippers are provided. Our room in the historic Ensana Grand was lovely, very clean, warm and comfortable with a view of the mighty Danube. The breakfast was very good with numerous choices for all diets and preferences. The staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful. On one occasion, we walked down through Margaret Island to access the city centre - it was a beautiful walk of 2-3 kilometres in the sunshine; the autumn colours were stunning. We even saw red squirrels - such a treat! On other occasions, we used the 26 bus which travels along the island from the city centre through to the Margit Hid (Margaret Bridge) or we walked to the transport hub at Szentlelek Ter where there are frequent buses, trams and trains to all areas of the city and beyond. The public transport network in Budapest must be one of the best in Europe and we were amazed to learn that over-65s travel free on all buses, trams and trains. Proof of age must be produced on request. Disappointedly, we were never asked to show our passports! Budapest is huge and a short break cannot do it justice. We will definitely return to this magnificent city.

The coffee machines dispensed rather disappointing coffee at breakfast. For guests with mobility issues, the walk through Margaret Island to the city centre might be a little daunting although the 26 bus passes near the hotel complex and the stop is only a short walk away. While Obuda is nearby and there are some good restaurants there, the walk from the hotel involves walking from the island to the mainland over a very busy, noisy and polluted road bridge. However, having endured this walk a couple of times, we decided to walk on to the bridge and get on the bus to the hub. This worked well as it is just one stop and there are frequent buses.

I booked Ensana for a 2-week workaction and I really liked my stay. The room was comfortable with a nice large desk to work. The breakfast was great, and there was a nice variety of choices. The gym was solid and the spa (although not at the level of other spas in the city like Széchenyi or Rudas), great for a hotel spa. It's a pleasure to run along the running track on the island. Staff was professional and helpful when needed.

The configuration of the shower in the bathtub is a bit inconvenient as the water is unavoidably leaking on the floor. Although the breakfast was great (solid 9 for a 4-star hotel), it could be even better if there were maybe 1-2 warm dishes every day + fresh orange juice. The location of the hotel on the island is either going to be a 9 or a 5 depending on what you are looking for. I personally really liked the remote location, but bear in mind that it will take you a good 30 min walk to the nearest restaurant off the island (although there is public transport nearby the hotel).

The staff at the reception desk were absolutely amazing. From the moment we arrived, they were kind, professional, and welcoming. They handled everything smoothly and with a smile, making us feel genuinely cared for. Their warmth and helpfulness truly stood out — I felt like a queen thanks to their exceptional service!

I was disappointed with the bed. The mattress cover was absolutely terrible — it didn’t fit the mattress properly and was smaller on both sides, so my husband and I kept sliding off during the night. It honestly felt like sleeping on the back of an elephant. The room was also very stuffy, and the air conditioning system couldn’t manage the temperature — it was old and inefficient. And this wasn’t even during summer; the outside temperature was only +25°C. I can’t imagine how unbearable it would be to stay there during hotter months.

The spa was the standout, it was in the Ensana Thermal. Ensana Thermal seemed a bit run down overall, so the Grand was better. It was a quick 5 minute walk to get to the spa at the Thermal, which was amazing. A good variety of pools and treatments available. The lobby itself was nice, and the staff were kind too. Location was also good as you're not far from central, and there's easy transport links. The island itself is nice and relaxing too.

The cleanliness of the room wasn't great- they don't make the beds properly, used mugs aren't taken away. This could be improved. The breakfast is also very average.
