I absolutely loved my stay at Island Hostel! If you can't decide between Buda and Pest, this is the perfect solution – you're right in the middle of the Danube with stunning river views! Waking up to the scenery and having the option to bike or run along the river is amazing. The hostel itself is spotless, with a beautiful top garden that’s perfect for relaxing. The staff are incredibly kind and helpful, and the kitchen is a real gem – well-designed, aesthetic, and practical, like something straight out of Pinterest! It's also super convenient, with a bus station just a 4-minute walk away and the Parliament nearby. If you're on a budget, you can grab groceries from a nearby store and use the fully-equipped kitchen to cook your own meals. Highly recommend this place for a memorable stay in Budapest!

The location was cool but unfortunately we didn’t get to see much of the island due to the rain. Easy to get the tram in to the centre. The room was pretty good

We arrived early and was sitting on the (very large) terrace and we were told that we cannot stay there and we need to leave and come back after 3pm. I found this absolutely ridiculous since we were the only ones there and not in anyone’s way. If they needed to clean the area we were sitting we could have moved to the other side of the terrace. I’ve never been told I have to leave a hostel before and come back after check in time (and I’ve stayed in a lot of hostels) Didn’t find the staff friendly at all, surprised so many other reviews mention they did

Great place, beautiful terrace with view on the river and the park, wifi working perfectly, nice and well equipped kitchen, very nice and kind staff, everything was kept clean.

No air conditioning in the room (can be tricky in July and August) but overall not a huge problem, even though temperatures during the day were very high, in the room the ambience was decent if windows were kept open to allow air to circulate (especially at night). The main issue for me was with the length of the bed, if you are over 180cm it can be a little short depending on how you position yourself during the sleep..

I loved the location and the view from the balcony, quirky little space and will definitely be back! Staff is kind and welcoming, space has many hand-painted details and I loved staying here. People I've met are also really nice and feels like the hostel has a lot of character and a soul to it. Many options to chill in either a chair, hammock, sofa, love the outdoor lights in the balcony and the fact that there are fans on the room ceiling if it's getting too hot. There's a sweet little orange cat whom I could briefly pet during my stay which was a bonus for sure!

There's a party place next door so the music at night was a bit loud in the room where I stayed, however, the hostel acknowledges that issue and has earplugs available for purchase. The lockers under the bed are a great solution for space saving, however they're a bit noisy if someone is trying to sleep next to it. There's no option to open them partially, they have to be completely pulled from under the bunk bed to be able to open the storage/locker.

The place is beautiful with a big terrace overlooking the Danube river. The hostel is located in a big island park, so if you like going for a walk it's wonderful. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious and had everything needed. There were adorable paintings on the walls and obviously the whole place is arranged with much love and enthusiasm.

If you don't like walking you should know that the only way to get to the hostel itself is by foot. For me personally that was not a problem.

The hostel was absolutely lovely, stunning views, excellent facilities and the staff are all super helpful and friendly especially the manager who made me feel at home from day one and was very easy to chat to and gave me anything i needed to make my stay great. The rooms were very nice, all very very clean and comfortable and the private terrace just made the place very special because even on the days i was not our sightseeing it was still like a little bit of paradise The island is full of things to entertain and the pub which is attached to the hostel had the BEST burgers ive had in years i couldn't stay away Id definitely go back and would recommend to anybody thinking of traveling to Budapest

Nothing at all!

I really like this place! Firstly, it is well located and very close to the city centre. Secondly, it has everything: a washing machine and a dryer, a kitchen, dishes, a toilet and a shower in each room, a beautiful terrace overlooking the river; thirdly, a very nice woman at the reception who will tell you everything and show you everything; I really liked everything here: the price, the cleanliness, the amenities, and the availability of everything you need. There is also a bar and restaurants very close by, so you can have breakfast here too. Overall, thank you very much for this place and I wholeheartedly recommend this place and wish everyone to stay here!

Very nice view of the Danube from the terrace accessible from the bedroom. Very spacious room, very nice common area to meet new people. The lady at the reception is adorable and super nice, and the hostel cat is super cute!

Maybe a little far from the tram (10 min walk), but heavenly location so you have to know what you want!

Edith was absolutely amazing. Assisted me in each question I had, provided such a great service and made me feel very comfortable. She provided me with recommendations on where to go and how to get there, places to see, restaurants and bars to visit. Couldn't recommend her enough. In terms of the room, it was lovely. Fairly comfortable beds, I had good roommates and lockers were provided for our belongings. I would 100% recommend this hostel especially as its right in the middle of both buda and pest sides.

Rooms were quite hot but a fan was provided in each room

Everything was perfect! I couldnt have wished for better accomodations. Great facilities in the room, daily cleaning, a ceiling fan which helped greatly with the heat (which wasn't very high that week in April). Great help with the reception, free towel upon request, quick checkout, bike rentals available (cheaper than the mubi app, which was what I had already used before I learned the offer). PERFECT perfect perfect location! Couldnt recommend it more!

The bed was slightly creaking, and my roommates the first night were somewhat inconsiderate. None of these are noteworthy flaws of the hostel.
