Right in the middle of town, easy walking to every place we wanted to be, but very quiet and away from busy roads. The staff is stellar— they had excellent recommendations for meals and activities, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We felt like guests in a private home. Our room at the top of the house was large and comfortable with a lovely town view.

The bathroom renovations are not in keeping with the elegance of the building and aren’t wearing well.

Everything was stupendous. Great staff, lovely rooms, perfect overall. Super breakfast.

Lovely place. We had two rooms. One in the main house and a little cottage in the grounds. They were both beautiful. The cottage was adorable. The location is fantastic close to the castle and river. Parking was included and the breakfast was good.

The breakfast was a little limited and there was no tea or coffee facilities in the room. Apart from that everything was great.

The breakfast options were good and the staff attentive. The furnishings in the main house were first class and creative. Perhaps best was the location within Amboise. There were quick short walks to important sites, good access to an abundance of shops and restaurants. Rooms in the main building were larger than the cottage we stayed in.

We could have chosen a larger room but our bed was comfortable and the bathroom quite adequate.

My husband and I loved our stay at Le Pavillon des Lys. We stayed 3 nights in the Patio Suite, which was absolutely perfect. We had a view from our terrace and able to enjoy morning coffee or a glass of wine. The suite was large, with a separate sitting room. Lots of closet space (which is in the sitting room, not the bedroom). Comfortable bed, nice linens, large bathroom. The hotel does not have a lift (which we were aware of), we were glad to be on the first floor. The staff are lovely and very helpful. The breakfast room is so nicely decorated and nice way to start your day in beautiful Amboise. Breakfast offerings are breads, cereals, fruit, cheeses and meats, which we found sufficient. If you are looking for a charming spot to stay I would recommend this small, quaint hotel. The location is perfect and easily walkable to Chateau Amboise, restaurant and shops.

Super location. The hotel was right in town, a short walk from the castle and many dining options. Spent the day walking the town and seeing the sights, never needed our car. There was plenty of on property parking. Staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Breakfast was extra and pricey. We found a fantastic bakery for breakfast a short walk away.

Location is amazing, right in the centre of Amboise. Parking available on-site. Spacious room and big bathroom. Helpful staff. A truly charming French property with character.

Can’t really complain as all the above positives are true. On first sight, the room appeared a bit tired with dated furniture and wall coverings - it would be 5 star with those features updated. The bathroom was lovely with an amazing view of Amboise chateau. The main bedroom was a bit darker with a small window. Also, our room was on the top floor which meant climbing up fairly steep stairs. We managed fine but it could be an issue for some guests so worth advising when booking if mobility is an issue. Parking access is a bit narrow but we managed fine with a Volvo XC60 size car and great to have the onsite option in such a central location.

Great location five minutes walk from the centre of Amboise. Vey quiet, and good secure car parking. A beautiful hotel, excellent breakfast and our room was stunning. The staff could not have been more charming and helpful. Our only disappointment was we wanted to stay an extra day and couldn't because they were fully booked, but that was no ones fault. I would stay here again and wholeheartedly recommend it to friends/family.

There was nothing to dislike.

We stayed in the cottage and it was beautiful.Lots of space and great shower.Loved sitting outside on the provided chairs and table.Close to main shopping mall and castle.

No English channels or channels with English subtitles on the TV so couldn’t really use it.
