Easy to park and located in a quiet residential location. Rooms were a decent size, clean and comfortable. Good quality bedding. The accomodation was exceptionally quiet and we slept well. The reception were friendly and the breakfast staff were hospitable and happy to provide extra teas and coffees.

The lounge areas felt soulless and unwelcoming. It wouldn't take much to make them more appealing. The bedroom furnishings were a bit dated. Long walk to Kingston main areas so driving might be necessary. We enquired about bus services but got conflicting information. Breakfast was self serve, but disappointing. The range of options was limited and everything looked like it had been cooked a while before, though we took breakfast half way through the allotted time. Its main pupose is a conference centre and hotel guests felt secondary. A number of guests made long loud phone calls at other tables during breakfast.

I want to mention one exceptional case of mine: I left my purse on the table of the lobby and after 10 minutes, I realized that all my valuable things included in the bag (wallet with all my credit cards, driver's licence, health card, Debt card, photos and around 400 dollars. The staff got it from one customer and returned it to me. I am so impressed that the bag still can be back, I almost lost my breath. With this experience, I would say Donald Gorden Hotel is the only place I would stay when I need to travel to Kingston. I trust the front desk lady and hotel staff, I trust customers staying in the hotel. Thank you !

The breakfast is fantastic, best one I've had in a long while. Free parking is great and it's relatively close to downtown for a quick Uber ride or a long walk on a nice day. It is also only a 10 minute walk from the Penitentiary which we had a tour booked for so that was great. I also enjoyed the courtyard when I was there, it along with the cozy atmosphere inside the hotel was very enjoyable. Though I wish they had more card key access doors to get back in from the courtyard, there is only one functional right now and it's away from the rooms and front lobby (there are more doors to access the courtyard but they will lock behind you) or at least make it more clear, I had to ask how to get back inside before I risked going out and getting locked outside lol. Also there definitely is a private bathroom for each room despite the booking.com page saying otherwise in the question section.

They have personal HVAC machines for each room, which is great for temperature control but they are quite loud, luckily we could turn it off and it seemed to keep a comfortable temperature. Would love to see them upgrade the size of the beds to king, since there is only one bed and the room is comfortably sized. The queen was fine but it's always snug for a couple.

It’s right on campus which is the purpose of our travel. But it’s also very close to downtown where the Main Street is. Historical building. Quiet - I did not hear much noise. Bed is very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent - it’s way beyond the regular hotel “hot breakfast” - it has many excellent and nutritious choices.

The water pressure of the shower is something to be desired. Took a very long time to shower with the slow water output. The bathroom is small.

Lovely room. Easy to find the hotel. Staff were friendly and courteous. Breakfast was nice and plentiful. The room was clean and spacious (king room). Situated in a quiet neighbourhood. You passed many lovely older homes when driving downtown. Would stay here again.

The only inconvenience was that the elevator broke one evening. It was fixed sometime after we went out the next day, however. Only had to climb stairs twice.

Great location and fantastic value for a small hotel with 40 rooms. I was attending a conference at St. Lawrence College so it was convenient as it was only 2 km away. The breakfast that was included was wonderfully delicious and felt like the highlight of my visit! The second morning I really enjoyed the French toast and the hot bar changed it up from the day before. The bed was comfortable, the rooms were clean and the reusable soaps/shampoos was a great touch. The water was nice and hot; my only complaint was that the shower pressure could have been slightly better. I wish I had used the garden patio if I had stayed longer.

I could not think of anything to improve on. Perhaps a sign to point out where the check-in desk was as it's not immediately obvious.

Friendly, helpful staff; warm, varied and tasty breakfast options; comfortable bed and pillows; work area with proper desk chair; clean; beautiful neighbourhood with lots of trees, easy to get around by bus.

Unfair overheard complaints by snooty guests at breakfast about the size or age of facilities - it is an older building but there is no reason to take issue with that!

It’s very nice hotel, I found all what I need. Nice and big free parking, The lady in the reception called hunter very nice and welcoming and did the check in in a minute. Good basic breakfast, comfy bed, coffe machine, TV, hair dryer, bright shoe, towels. The restaurant staff very friendly and polite. The receptionist Hunter gave to my kids bonbon, Smarties 😊 sure will back again.

Nothing I can mention.

I like everything about the property.

as lovely as the room and setup is for breakfast, the actual breakfast and coffee leave a great deal to be desired. the coffee continues to be so mediocre and for people like me who are not big egg and bacon fanatics, there’s little to choose from. no decent bread, no croissants, and the jam on offer, if you make toast in the antediluvian toaster, is embarrassing. little plastic containers of what looks like hard old strawberry jam. there is no shortage of excellent bakeries in Kingston, so it’s a shame, especially for any European guests.

We stayed one night. Room was clean and spacious enough for our needs. Very comfortable bed. Buffet breakfast was excellent with plenty of hot options. Staff very helpful. Excellent value for money. Nice to be in a University setting.

The room itself was a little dated with older furnishings. Water pressure in the shower a little weak. While the buffet was excellent, what we ate had too much salt. Go easy on the salt please!
