The Duke William is a very well maintained venue, with friendly, helpful staff and a vey easy checking in/out process. Our room really lacked nothing. There was a fan, tea and coffee making facilities (including instant and filter coffee) an abundance of piping hot water and a wonderfully comfortable bed! We had requested a quiet room with a bath, which was fulfilled, leading to a really good nights sleep. We only looked at the menu once we had arrived at the hotel and decided to dine at the venue that evening. With a severe nut allergy, I must complement the management for training their staff so well, and the chefs for adapting their cooking methods for my menu choice. Superb choice of wines to accompany dinner also. We waited about 30 mins for our breakfast, but it was really good. Would definitely recommend The Duke William

All of the staff we spoke to were very helpful and friendly. The bar and restaurant look great, room was quite small and dark, but the bed was enormous and pleasantly firm. A lovely breakfast from a nice selection.

For the price we paid I felt the room could have been a bit more luxurious. I found the bedsheets to feel rough (although my husband did not). I was also a little disappointed that the hospitality tray did not have any biscuits on - always a perk of a hotel stay!

Efficient, friendly service. Clean, tidy throughout. Ample choice for breakfast & generally quite after 23:00hrs.

Room (7) quite small for a double with very little storage in room & bathroom, especially compared to other double (2) we saw. OK for one night but useless for longer stay. Acoustic act terrible & really not reqd by anyone.

The location was amazing, just a stone's throw from the cathedral and castle. The room was updated and very clean with a lovely comfortable bed. The staff were all very friendly. And the breakfast... perfect! We will be coming back.

Directions to the parking lot could have been a bit clearer in the instructions. But we finally found it, so no big problem.

Great location to explore the sights. Standard Double room was nicely furnished, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great. Staff were very friendly.

Our room was above the pub/restaurant garden, we stayed on Easter Sunday and the weather was sunny, so it was very busy with customers and unfortunately quiet noisy in the evening.

Beautiful period hotel. Our room was lovely, with a huge, comfortable bed and large en-suite bathroom. Duke William’s history was interesting.

Needed additional table or shelf space in the room. We waited over half an hour to be served breakfast, which we had pre-ordered, as required, before 9pm the night before

Everything to be honest! Popular place for drinking and eating. Had Sunday dinner there sat outside in the beer garden. Plenty of pubs nearby plus the Cathedral and the castle on the doorstep. Didn’t feel the need to venture down Steep Hill as we were only there for the weekend

The staff are kind and very welcoming. The communication before our trip was excellent and relaxed us before arrival.

The sofa bed was a little hard, but would be fine with a mattress topper! The welcoming and comfortable accommodation was exceptionally good- so clean , cosy . The staff are lovely 🥰

Location, location, location. Three hundred metres from the cathedral and just a bit more to the castle, with a dozen pubs and restaurants on the way. A private carpark out the back and great food and rooms inside. What more could one want?
