August 2025

The room was spacious with a balcony facing sunset, which we used every day. The outside pool area was well maintained and not too busy or noisy for August. The water dripping from the infinity pool into a smaller one generated the perfect white noise, creating an ideal relaxation space. Th grounds are bug enough for a late walk or jogging. The padel and tennis courts are in good condition and rarely booked in August. Tennis rackets and balls were provided at reception. Breakfast was not eccentric but instead carefully thought. Adding regional products to the regular hotel spread. The apple mini-muffins are a reference. Absolutely scrumptious. Dinner was in the same space as breakfast. The deconstructed “Açorda de bacalhau” is delicious.

I would like to see more variety and local reference in the dinner menu and maybe a little more ambience created in the dinner space.

From the moment I arrived at Espinheiro, I knew I was in for something special. Check-in was smooth and welcoming - room was spacious with a nice garden view. The amenities were exceptional and breakfast buffet was another highlight, featuring everything from fresh tropical fruits and made-to-order omelets to locally baked pastries and fresh-pressed juices. What truly set this hotel apart, though, was the service. Every staff member, from the concierge to the housekeeping team, went above and beyond. It is a place I’ll return to without hesitation and recommend to anyone seeking a memorable stay.

The staff of the restaurant area were very nice. The rooms are very pretty and comfortable. The ladies from the spa were also super friendly and give great massages :) The whole history of the building and the efforts to keep it running and preserved.

The new toilet seats: narrow opening and providing water from it - no, thank you very much. No water from a toilet seat of an hotel for me! The food from the restaurant is properly executed but not so interesting flavour wise, as one would expect from an high-end restaurant in Évora, with such good local ingredients. Disappointing.

Staying here was an unforgettable experience. It was fun to explore the facility without crowds of people (although it seems like a lot of tour groups stop here), including the grounds, church, and library. The room was very comfortable and the restaurant, for dinner and breakfast, was excellent. One night was a perfect amount of time to stay here!

It’s not walkable to the town, which was unfortunate, although hanging out at the facility was not necessarily bad. We also were promised a tour of the facility (supposed to happen nightly) and such was not available, for some unknown reason. That was very disappointing as it would have been nice to get more history, which the provided pamphlet did not cover completely.

What a beautiful and unique resort! The best place we have ever stayed. Here is a list of the the things we liked: spacious, luxurious room/bathroom with a very comfortable bed, great spa, beautiful grounds, unbelievable restored historic chapel & monastery.. Incredible views from our porch. Amazing food and service. We ate at Italian restaurant which was delicious in a unique atmosphere. Breakfast was incredible too in a beautiful room. Its hard for me to put this place into words!

We loved everything and wished would could have stayed longer!

The hotel has done a wonderful job of respecting the old convent while updating it to modern comforts. It’s the perfect place to evoke the history of Evora while enabling you to relax in a beautiful and peaceful rural setting just minutes from the town. Our room in the convent was spacious, indeed majestic, with a luxurious bed and large bathroom. The grounds are extensive with gardens and a clean and well maintained pool that we enjoyed at the end of our days of sightseeing. But it was the service and friendliness of the staff that made the hotel so great. From the reception clerk who escorted us to our tucked away room to the accommodating pool towel assistant, everyone was so helpful and kind. We particularly enjoyed Daniel, in the ba, who indulged our enthusiasm for indigenous grapes by going over what was in the various wines available by the glass. Madelena on the breakfast buffet staff, was so gracious when we showed up early and then, unlike everyone else, asked to sit outside on the balcony in the cool morning air. Anibal kept us hydrated with the best orange juice I’ve drunk in my life and didn’t bat an eye when we went through two carafes of coffee. The breakfast buffet itself was stellar with offerings to please all ages and palates. The facility had a restaurant and fitness facility that we didn’t use, but they both looked well equipped and, if our snacks in the bar and the breakfast buffet were anything to go by, would be excellent. Truly this hotel is worth a splurge and you will leave with great memories.

Like every other hotel we’ve stayed at in Portugal, there wasn’t an easy way to charge our electronics. Between our phones, watches, and pads, it’s a bit of a circus trying to get everything charged overnight. A power strip or wall fixtures with multiple plugs would be very helpful.

This hotel is beautiful, cozy and our bedroom (design area) had a beautiful and calm view to the amazing Alentejo's sunset. The restaurants have excellent wine selection and delicious food. The church is absolutely wonderful and we could feel peace and tranquility everywhere in the hotel. We also loved the group of singers from Alentejo who performed at night...it was really beautiful to hear the Canto Alentejano in such beautiful voices. Very friendly and attentive staff. We totally recommend.

The Extra bed (for kids) could be more comfortable.

A really cool hotel! Loved the history of the place. The pool area was lovely on a hot day, we enjoyed the spa facilities a well. We also had a wine tasting in the cellar which was offered on arrival so that was a lovely surprise. The Chapel is absolutely stunning as well! Prices for food and drink are slightly higher than average so something to be aware of. We stayed for a night and had a great time!

There wasn’t anything in particular we didn’t like!

We loved this beautiful hotel; it's full of history, and the architecture and decor of the old parts of the convent is just gorgeous. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. We particularly enjoyed the dining areas with their vaulted ceilings. The breakfast was generous and the dinner we had at Divinus was exceptional - easily the best meal we had during our stay in Portugal.

Nothing, just wish we could have stayed longer!

Unique facility having been a former monastery. The property is beautiful and the history so interesting. The sanctuary beautiful and the property gives a tour explaining the history and restoration and new additions that have been done. The food was good and breakfast options were great.

Limited food options for lunch. The bar acoustics were so loud that it was unpleasant if there were many people present. This was the only option for lunch. Since it is out of town a car is good to have but parking around the old town was confusing. The hotel will call a cab.
