Excellent facility in very good location. Perhaps the most notable feature of this hostel is its very good on site cafe, which a healthy and varied menu of great food professionally served in a pleasant atmosphere. The hostel also maintains a calendar of activities for guests of all ages and interests, from children to older folks like myself — both on site and in cooperation with other local businesses. PNW Hostel has all imaginable amenities for travelers looking for comfort and convenience on a budget, including an exceptionally large and functional guest kitchen and dining area as well as readily accessible laundry facilities. There’s also a mini mart within a short walk. The neighborhood is imminently walkable and public transit is also available within a couple of blocks.
Parking is always difficult to find but then again, a car isn’t really necessary here.

Great neighborhood. Awesome staff (shoutout to Ray) really clean and nice establishment. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Buildings were gorgeous.
Most of the cafe staff were pretty nice. There were a few that worked there that weren’t rude per-se, but definitely felt like they were uncomfortable being nice to a male hostel guest. The same staff seemed much nicer to female guests. The commons areas weren’t very social. I don’t think this was the fault of the actual hostel unless they did some drastic layout overhauls. I like to socialize with others in a hostel and all of the sitting areas were like a bunch of small silo areas. Sitting with other hostel goers didn’t seem comfortable or feasible.

Excellent cafe with great menu. Two options for dining outside, comfortable dining room and spacious “commons” with generous seating options including places to charge and use electronic devices. Awesome entertainment options throughout the week both in the hostel and locations nearby, which offer discounts for hostel residents. Facilities, staff and location make this my go-to whenever I visit Portland!
There’s limited parking on the street but a car is actually a hassle in the city of Portland in general. The city has excellent public transit including the MAX system, many dozens of bus lines, a cool electric streetcar line and even an aerial tram!!

I love the good vibes of this motel. Even if portland isn’t fun that much , if u feel this way. I would definitely say this hostel is way much more fun. I really liked almost everything about my stay, the cafe , the kitchen which allowed me to cook aa meal for myself because portland has many options but u cannot find anything in the night( routine chicken fry, burger or most common food around the hostel ) , the hall, staff. They upgraded me for free and i really appreciate that. But i only had 1 thing which was really uncomfortable. They respected my instructions and gave me bottom bunk in the dormitory. But the bed was kind of really uncomfortable. It was too soft, after my first night i think i strained my muscles. It gave me hard time the whole trip.
Nothing, everything is perfect.

This place made my trip for me. The location was gorgeous and historic, they have super cheap breakfast and amazing food (vegan and otherwise) and luxurious coffee for purchase at their cafe, and I made a lot of friends! They also consistently have local artists come in to hold events so there's never a lack of things to do. They have a complete kitchen and fridge, laundry room, and lots of fire pits and alcoves in which to sit and convene. I would have stayed longer if I could.
Loose sheets, light shower pressure, laundry machine needs quarters- nothing deal breaking but worth being prepared for. Our bunk beds were situated directly over the heater vent so check your bed before you select it upon arriving.

The property was near so many cute spots in Portland and street parking was plentiful. Walking distance to a ton of restaurants, quirky shops, and the lush evergreens on every street made it feel so cozy. Plus, it was right next to a park as well so be prepared to see a plethora of cute dogs on your lil strolls.
The door to the hostel and cafe were right next to each other so some rando could’ve easily walked in as far the courtyard, secret garden, and communal space indoors but definitely not into the rooms-just a safety note to keep in mind.

Great staff, very friendly and helpful. Good location, close to supermarkets and nine minutes walking from the tram stations. Great atmosphere. Wifi works well. Hostel was usually very clean. The restaurant/café inside the hostel is very good. Complimentary breakfast was simple but perfect. They even offer oat milk!
Mattress was uncomfortable, very soft and with a certain air mattress vibe. The bunk bed is super squeaky, I was on the top one and if you move your toe you wake the entire room. I had to do some laundry and the dryer doesn’t work - it somehow leaves your clothes wetter than before. They leave a small desk with a chair in the hallway of the dorms and some unfortunate person had the idea of using it twice in a row at five in the morning to make a video call for an hour. I believe he woke up the entire floor.

Location, staff, breakfast, nightly events. I stayed in this hotel for 7 nights and at first night there was a noise in my room, which is not the hotels fault but fault of the visitors and after I informed reception next morning, they changed my room immediately and issue is easily resolved. Rest of the nights were very nice, without any noise. And at last night of my stay there was a free wine tasting event which was a nice surprise and at that event Liesel was very kind and professional and it was really a big pleasure to talk with her.

Very spacious, clean, has a lot of free hostel social activities, warm and friendly vibe. Free breakfast (bagel) with a choice of drink— Smiths tea is so great I went to go buy a box at the store & so is the coffee! They also have oj. $5 parking per day if you have a car (free on Sundays and federal holidays). Ample kitchen space and food storage. Check out their event calendar online to help plan out your trip with discovering local events and such! I’ve met a lot of other women traveling from around the country/world in the dorms so that was cool :)
My only wish is that they had curtains but it isn’t too bad!

I love this hostel. It has a home-feel about it, and the buildings and rooms have so much character. The staff are very accommodating and I love that breakfast is provided. My favourite room would have to be the common space right by the cafe. The location is pretty good as well, it is in a safe area, with restaurants and cafes nearby & is a 20 min walk from the heart of the city.
The walls are thin so if your room is right by a hallway/ entrance, it might be noisy. Beds in dorm rooms have no curtains.
