Blai Bali was a really great spot! The hostel itself is small so it never feels crowded, doesn't get too noisy and the staff keep it impeccably clean! The dorm rooms are clean and spacious. The beds are really comfortable and have everything that you need. I stayed in this hostel for a few weeks and it was really great! The communal area is small but more than enough for how many people are staying, even when it's full. The staff are also very friendly and always available to help with recommendations and advice. The location is great, very close to the beach!

There is no stove or washing facilities but this was explained in the listing so wasn't a surprise. There is also a great laundromat in Zarautz that's not too far away to do laundry.

Love the location. Small hostel with mixed dorms that are cleaned frequently by helpful staff. Security cameras and locks add to comfort. Communal kitchen makes a nice meeting place to visit with other guests as well as making a snack or simple meal. Coffee and Tea available for minimal charge is a nice touch. A simple clothesline generously provided for guests to hang their rain ponchos and small washed items - overnight in preparation for carrying on your hike, bike, surf excursions. Nearby supermarket and the cafe/bar/restaurant are convenient - just to the side of Blai Blai on the floor above the hostel.

Location was excellent, staff were friendly and professional, the accommodations were comfortable, clean, and quiet as there was only one other guest in another room during my stay. I am walking the Camino Del Norte and arrived by city bus from San Sebastian for one night to start from Zarautz the following morning. Lunch down on the malecon / seaside was a beautiful experience waiting for check in time. The following morning going upstairs was a supermarket to buy food for my travels as well as a wonderful enclosed patio to have a morning cafe con leche and croissant. This place was exactly what I needed to prepare for my journey. (They also have brochures / camino guides in multiple languages … and that is handy as the Northern Route of the Camino (De Santiago De Compostela) is a little less travelled / more subtle in its queues. I don’t remember the name of the lady who welcomed me at reception … but she was so warm and beautiful and even spotted me on the street to say farewell after I had self checked out. ♥️

I had a one night comfortable stay in this hostel as I had to move on the following day towards Bordeaux. Everything was good and I really like the small curtain per bed for a bit of privacy. Also charging socket at the bunk. The staff were really friendly and helpful.

Nothing major but I suppose a few small improvements for me would be free tea/coffee offered to travellers during the day similar to what other hostels offer and maybe a basic breakfast, e.g. coffee and a pastry. It would also be nice to have a larger space to mingle with other tourists since this is all part of the hostel experience but probably not possible due to the size of the hostel.

The place and staff were great, very clean, tidy, good facilities

The people that stayed in my room definitely weren't pilgrims, more surfer-party types. Very ignorant, talking, in and out of the room, opening bags, velcro, lockers, zips, until 1am, all with the lights on. They had absolutely no respect for the other occupants, I'm specifically referring to the Spanish couple but others also a little noisy but only until 11pm and kind of expected occasionally.

The staff very kind, location close to the train station and the beach, everyone has their own little lot that gives some sense of privacy and they're made of wood and the lighting is dimmed, which is wonderful. Also the hostel is small and there were no kids, I was happy that it was quiet. You can come back during the day, which is nice. You have an opportunity to make tea or coffee, and there's a comfortable sitting area.

Super friendly and helpful lady at reception who is happy to give advice and help you plan your trip. The hostel is very clean, the beds are comfortable with privacy curtains and there's ample storage under the bed and in the locker. There's also a pouch by the bed for putting belongings in at night and a personal lamp. There were plenty of showers so you never had to wait. Generally the guests in the hostel were respectful of the hostel rules and many were doing the Camino which meant it was possible to get a good night's sleep. You could hang your wet/damp clothes on a dryer. Everything was well thought through. I'd definitely stay here again!

I can't think of anything to say here - it was all great.

The hostel is peaceful, very clean and in a great location - close to the beach and the train station. I liked that the beds have curtains so you have privacy, and there's a kettle with cutleries and plates that you can use to make some simple food. Would definitely recommend it!

Blai Blai Hostel is one of the best hostels I have stayed at out of 200+ hostels in 10 years of walking on Caminos in Spain. The facilities are perfect - excellent private cabin beds, with every little detail thought of. Ample showers and space, nice salon, very clear and still friendly posters with rules and tips. Coffee machine with capsules, And the lady managing the hostel is very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Thank you for a great stay and rest on the Camino del Norte!

Not a problem but to be aware, not full kitchen but you can definatley make a meal with the ammenities: microwave, rice cooker, toaster!
