Best staff in Greece! Never encountered such friendly, helpful hotel staff.

Location was a bit off Center, and due to construction a bit noisy.

The breakfast was fantastic -with eggs of all kinds made to order as well as pancakes and lox, but the highlight was the extensive buffet, with more different things than we had time to explore in a week. Most importantly , the staff was really nice and incredibly helpful. For example, one of the folks at reception walked out with us to the taxi they ordered for us to make sure we got to the right destination by explaining to the driver exactly where we were going, Another made weekend dinner reservations for us at a charming and not expensive taverna that we came back again to eat at. Mpirmpilo is about 4 blocks away and we absolutely fell in love with it. There were also various nice touches to the hotel: you could have drinks or snacks on the rooftop and the gym, though tiny, was another nice touch that one of us greatly enjoyed using. And we really liked the location which is in the most upscale part of Athens on a very quiet side street just off the main road —Vassilis Sophia— on which are located at least four museums in easy walking distance— the closest of which is the National Art Gallery. The room was very quiet and the bed and pillows very comfortable. In sum we would be delighted to come back here.

Nothing really. The hotel is called the Modernist and the decor is modern and on the sterile side, but that was more than compensated for by the cheery staff who always looked happy to see us (among the names that come to mind that deserve praise:Ian,Martina, Haris,Mike, and the two Ionnas— but there were other excellent staff whose names I never learned.)

I sent my parents here because it looked like a great place to be based while they were exploring Athens for a few days... and I was completely right! Located right in the gorgeous Kolonaki neighborhood, they felt like they were in the ideal location to explore the main sights of central Athens on foot, with a gorgeous place to come home to each night. Plus, they raved about the staff, the balcony on their room, and the spectacular views of the Parthenon at sunset.

Going to Athens in the summer means craving a pool or taking multiple showers a day in order to contend with the heat. It's certainly not The Modernist's fault that they don't have one, it's just something to note for summer travelers! Otherwise, a spectacular stay.

The breakfast was excellent and the staff, as throughout the hotel were helpful and charming

There really wasn’t anywhere to put your stuff once unpacked. Proper shelves in the bathroom, some USB points and appropriate places to put clothes and toiletries. The desk at the other side of the room had to be used and while it worked it was inappropriate. My husband thought the mattress too soft and his back hurt, but I was not affected by this. The roof bar was a disappointment as it wasn’t open or attended, there was a closed space but not really big enough. I know it’s still only March. The Cafe could have been a jollier bar in the evening with a few proper dishes rather that snacks.

Many things but most important was the area they assigned us after we checked out to store our luggage and take a shower etc. prior to our flight. I also liked the balcony, it had a beautiful greenery view overlooking the park. The roof was also cute. The location was great too, only a stone throw away from the shops, cafes etc of Kolonaki. It was never noisy at nights which was great, we slept so well. The lady who cleaned our room was always smiling and keen to make us happy. The front desk group were all very warm and helpful. Before I decided on The Modernist, I also called and messaged some other hotels for rooms; the warmth on the phone and the immediate message replies via booking.com messaging and also my mail were very prompt and comforting. It made me choose The Modernist over the other options. Thank you. ❤️

We could not find a room with two single beds, maybe there might be more rooms of this kind in the future.

My stay at The Modernist Hotel Athens was truly memorable. The hotel itself has a stylish, contemporary vibe that I loved great attention to detail everywhere you look. But what really stood out to me were the incredible bath products. They’re simply amazing! I enjoyed them so much that I ended up buying a bar of their soap to take home with me. The breakfast at the hotel deserves a special mention as well. Everything was top shelf, with very fresh, high-quality ingredients. It was such a treat to start the day with such a delicious and thoughtfully prepared meal. All in all, I highly recommend The Modernist Hotel Athens it’s a fantastic place to stay if you appreciate modern design, great amenities, and a little bit of luxury.

Didn’t find anything that was really worth mention

We liked the location in a quieter area about 30 minutes walk into Syntagma / Plaka. Short walk to the Benaki Museum or the Museum of Cycladic Art. Breakfast was good, plenty of options and coffee made to order. The room itself was comfortable enough and the staff were friendly and helpful. We particularly liked the thoughtful details like the selection of cocktails in the minibar, the exercise mat and the music playlists.

There wasn't enough surfaces to unpack properly, especially in the bathroom. The single use paper cups were handy but only provided two for the room, glass would have been fine.

I loved fhe property. As it was for my birthday celebration, i was pleasantly surprised at the checkin as i got an upgrade of our room. Conveniently located, within walking distance to Syntagma square on a nice sunny day as well as 1 or 2 metro stops to all central locations. Hotel is freshly redecorated, looks very stylish and modern. Loved the whole library look in the cafe downstairs. Enjoyed the rooftop garden a bit. Staff was very helpful, friendly, kind and attentive. Their recommendation of the local taverna was amazing. Outstanding food and amazing ambience. Also accommodated our early checkout and our wishes for breakfast box. Just loved it. Enjoyed the option of having freshly cooked food for breakfast as well as divine freshly squeezed orange juice. they hold events every other night, we enjoyed music on one night and nice local Modernist wine on the other. All in all i loved it!

Aircon is regulated centrally, so found it a bit hot over night. Reception was kind enough to regulate it but it didn’t do much difference for me. Not crucial but a bit uncomfortable.

This was my second visit. I returned after a stay a year ago, this time bringing a friend along. Excellent location in a clean, safe, upscale neighborhood (although an extended family of transients moved into the adjoining park during our stay). It's in a former embassy on embassy row, with many key museums within walking distance. Metro stop is a couple of minutes away, with most major attractions within a couple of stops (the Athens subway itself, while online having three lines, deserves kudos). Staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. Breakfast is very good, filling, and healthy. Views of the Acropolis from the rooftop bar and even from our rooms' balconies.

Temperature control in the room was random. I'd turn the AC off since it would keep running even when the set point was reached. It would somehow turn itself on again. I repeated the experiment multiple times with the same result.

We had a great time at the Modernist Athens! Boutique hotel centrally located next to metro station but away from the historical center bustle. Rooms are thoughtfully designed, well equipped and very clean. Comfy beds and well functioning A/C. We really enjoyed our breakfast and the views from the hotel rooftop! Very kind and helpful personnel throughout the hotel. Highly recommend.

The addition of drawers below the open hanging station for clothes would be very helpful.
