Great choice for breakfast. Very attentive staff.

Bed was a little too low so some people may struggle.

I booked on behalf of my parents. I'd forgotten to request a room with lift access to the floor. but at reception they managed ( after a quick bit of juggling around) to arrange a equal room with better access. the staff were always smiling, and quick to acknowledge you when you were there. they had one meal, which they enjoyed. The room was warm but with an opening window if needed. Everything was very clean, with a tidy daily and replenishment of coffees etc. overall a lovely stay.

parking is an issue. although the hotel actually have a petition in the reception to the council to improve this ( along with other local businesses). However, I am local so it was easier for me to know where to find a spot for my parents.

The small restaurant was well presented and the food was very good. Our room was well furnished, the shower looked new. All the staff were pleasant and helpful.

The lift only goes to the first floor. We had a room on the third floor so quite a few steps. The manager did carry up our bags though.. Our room only had a skylight which was ok for our one night stay, but not for a longer stay. There is no connecting corridor from the hotel to the bar.

We enjoyed our stay at this really pleasant hotel. The room we were given was a good size, comfortable, very clean and quiet. The bathroom was exceptional, with a fabulous shower. Tea, coffee, biscuits and kettle provided, and there was also a mini fridge and bottles of water. The bed was comfortable, the linen clean and good quality, and plenty of pillows available. We had a drink in the bar downstairs, which was obviously popular with locals, with many of them enjoying the food available. If we’re up that way again we’ll have no hesitation in booking here again.

Street parking is possible around the hotel itself, though none available when we arrived. It wasn’t a problem as there is a car park nearby, which we used for a few hours, then moved our car right outside the hotel door. We were put on the third floor, quite far from reception, and unfortunately the internet reception was patchy. However, downstairs in the bar the reception was excellent!

A genuine and warm welcome from Proprietors Glen and Maggie , plus all the staff, throughout our 6 night/day stay, were cheerful and always more than happy to help . The meals in the dining room , optional on an evening, plus extensive breakfast choices , were all beautifully cooked and presented. The Hotel has many fine period features and is all decorated to a good standard. We had a large bedroom en-suite , with a modern walk in shower , on the first floor served by either the wide staircase or the modern lift. Choices of Tea.and coffee plus drinking chocolate each day/night and various tasty biscuits, plus bottled water, The room was serviced every morning with clean towels etc.. We really enjoyed our stay and certainly hope to stay again. Many thanks to Glen and Maggie and all the staff. Carnforth is a small and pleasant north of England town, with everything convenient to hand. The Hotel being conveniently close to the period Railway Station associated with the wartime romance film, "Brief Encounter". It's well worth a visit for those interested in Film, Railway and Wartime memorabilia. The Beauty of Lakeland is but a short drive , also the Forest of Bowland and the Yorkshire Dales , all within a pleasant drive. Morecambe and Heysham for time spent by the Seaside.

Just can't think of anything we did not like.

This is a classic Victorian railway hotel but the bedroom was modernised as well as being warm, clean and comfortable. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. Its attached public bar, The Junction, had very good food in the evening, and had the atmosphere of a local pub frequented by the locals. The Full English breakfast was great - all cooked perfectly. The hotel is just across the road from Carnforth train station, and is just over a mile from Junction 35 on the M6. The area has some very pretty countryside - good for walking, bird watching, and is near the sea. It's also only a few miles from Morecambe and 10 minutes on the train to Lancaster.

There were no problems at all with my stay.

Excellent food was one of the reasons for this return visit, but eating in the bar didn't do the food justice. The restaurant is much nicer. Excellent shower Friendly staff Clean room

Lack of car parking means using local station car park and I had considerable problems with the parking compt over paying there for overnight parking. Could the hotel come to some arrangement over parking there.

Genuinely friendly staff, they couldn't do enough for us. We had elderly relatives with us so this was much appreciated. The hotel has a real homely feel, the kind you don't get with a soulless big hotel chain. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the ensuite bathrooms clean and clearly recently refurbished. The restaurant and food was impressive, we ate there on our first night and were genuinely impressed with the quality. Breakfasts both continental and cooked were particularly good. Would definitely recommend a stay.

Parking is off site but there's plenty of on street parking available literally meters away.

This is a really great choice for a short stay. The rooms are not flashy, but are very comfortable and well appointed - the bed was incredibly comfy and the shower was the best we've had in a hotel in a while. The communal areas were lovely, and the staff were fantastic - all very friendly and helpful. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again. The food in the restaurant in the evening was fantastic and breakfast was very good.

This was a really great stay - the bedrooms are not flashy but are very comfortable.

The property has plenty of character and is clean throughout. The staff were friendly and happy to help. It is a Victorian build, so don’t expect it to be all glass and chrome, but for us, this added to its charm. The bathroom however was up to modern expectations with a great walk-in shower. The room was warm (but to be expected in August) but a fan was available and helped to cool the room. The mini fridge was also a great addition. The restaurant served delicious food and the rooftop terrace was an ideal way to end the day. We really enjoyed our time here! Thank you to the team!

The traffic is noisy, but it’s to be expected being so close to the historic Carnforth station. We just accepted it!
