We have visited the Royal on several occasions, normally for one night when travelling through the area. We have always found the staff very helpful and the food is good and well presented. We do find the beds a bit small. The hotel is very pet friendly and they do not charge for dogs. On this occasion we were staying two nights with family for a funeral. We had booked the side room for a buffet for 30. The food was plentiful, with lots of choice and very good. The staff were excellent. Parking is available across the street and there is a very nice beer garden overlooking the canal.

Larger double beds would be nice.

Nice clean rooms with modern ensuite and friendly atmosphere. Very convenient for Morcambe Bay and south Lakes area. They have a very good chef producing excellent meals and some very different to the usual pub food, so a very popular place to eat. We would stay again but avoid a Saturday.

We stayed for 3 nights , the first being a Saturday. It was very very busy and despite being a resident there was nowhere to sit for a drink and they could only fit us in later than we wanted . Consequently they couldn't cope with the numbers and food was very late coming with long waits to order and between courses. The staff were excellent and did their best, they had just overbooked. The hotel had been in touch about arrival time so could easily have asked if we wanted to eat and reserve a table. Also it is a dog friendly hotel and dogs allowed while eating so beware if you dont like dogs.

Bedroom was on the small side, newish toilet/shower room but bedroom was care worn and basic. The road outside was the Main Street/by-pass and was busy throughout the day and as a consequence the bedroom noisy from the traffic noise. Pub restaurant was modern, had a great atmosphere. Good food and drink. Staff friendly and helpful. Nice location, hand for local facilities and sites, convenient for Morecambe and the Lakes.

Basic bedroom. Traffic noise during the night.

Perfect location for us to meet up with the family before Christmas. Booking in was quick and easy. Large clean room, only negative was the soft pillows but that's personal choice. We had booked to eat in the bar area for 6.30 for 5 people. Food was amazing, service was superb and very good value. I would highly recommend this hotel and bar. Breakfast next morning didn't disappoint, beautifully presented and great coffee. Would and will come again.

Soft pillows but not much else

We have stayed on a number of occasions when travelling home. Dog friendly; nice staff.

Food is normally served in the bar and was one of the main reasons for our choice of this hotel as we had been driving all day. However, they were having work done in the kitchen and not serving that day. We were only informed after it was too late to cancel. Also only informed at last minute that checkin was only possible until 20.30 it is normally 22.00 Owners dogs barked from when we checked in until gone 22.00, we understand the owners were out.

Great location for my visit to the area. Friendly staff. The room was clean and comfortable. Just take into consideration that after 2100hrs, you have to use the fire escape as the main door (access through pub) is locked. There are no issues for me, but others may struggle or just not like metal stairs. Breakfast isn't served until 0900hrs, so I missed this as I had to out earlier, so I can not comment on the food. Situated right next to the canal and has a beautiful outdoor space.

No negatives from me.

The room was fine but a little noisy. Food was lovely

The room was a little noisy & o r of Roman blinds broken . The breakfast was good but expensive but couldn’t access room for breakfast until 9am . There was an offer for breakfast on weekdays but not weekends & no discount for residents. Which we thought was poor. A pot of tea , 1 fresh orange & 2 dishes from the menu £32( not full English)

We have stayed here on previous occasions and always find the staff are very pleasant. The bar food is good, on this occasion we had dinner on two nights and breakfast once. The food is of a good standard though our second meal did seem as though it had been standing for a while and was a little dry. Pepper corn sauce was a bit thin. Breakfast was very nice, but a shame the £10 breakfast and drink is not available on a Friday, especially if you are staying in a room; it was £7 for two coffees.

Shower in room 7 ran too hot and could not be adjusted. Forgot to point this out when we left. Bedside light which was broken in July was still not working,

A lovely room above the pub, the evening meal there was very high quality, and there's a good large free car park - though beware, it's across a very busy road.

Breakfast not served till 9? What use is that for anyone travelling for work? Do people really start work that late? I think the hotel just didn't want to do breakfasts! There's a Co-op just down the road, so you'll be able to forage. Oh, and I found the Wifi annoyingly difficult to sign into (only important to me because I had a Zoom meeting at 7pm). It's "The Cloud" which needs a password which, if you've forgotten it, they email to you. But my 4G signal was so bad I couldn't get the email. I ended up doing the meeting on my very poor 4G. Ironically I managed to sign into the Wifi after the meeting and it worked well, just not when I needed it. Tip remember your "The Cloud" wifi password in advance, if you have one.

The staff are really nice and the food is second to none absolutely fantastic. On a nice day the beer garden is really nice and relaxing

We had the breakfast I had a sausage sandwich which was lovely but my wife had the vegetarian sausage and was expecting a Quorn or plant based type sausage but what she got was a sausage made of potatoes, peas and carrots which wasn't nice on bread it was like having bubble and squeak on bread and it wasn't very hot either
