Beautiful room. The photos are exactly how the rooms look. They are beautifully decorated and styled. Great shower. No food smells from the restaurant. Little extras like free water and some cookies and candies. We felt very spoilt.
Long, narrow flight of stairs up to rooms, which could be difficult for some. The windows in our room were in the ceiling facing the sky. We had unusually nice weather, so it would have been nice to have windows that looked out at eye-level. Also this was the end of a long trip for us and we had quite a few pieces of luggage. There wasn’t a lot of space to store these in the room.

From the moment we checked in at Quite Simply French, we knew this was going to be special — but being upgraded to their magnificent two-level river view suite took it to another level entirely. The décor is stunning, with thoughtful touches everywhere. Upstairs, the mezzanine bedroom feels wonderfully indulgent, complete with a free-standing bath that all but insists you take a long soak. A coffee machine and the most moreish homemade biscuits make it all too easy to linger in the room, gazing out over the water. We’d also booked dinner in the restaurant downstairs and, frankly, I’m glad we did. The menu was sensational — packed with tempting choices — and the wine list offered excellent bottles at very fair prices. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour; it’s the kind of food that makes you plan your return before you’ve even finished dessert. Breakfast the next morning was just as memorable. The smashed avocado was fresh and vibrant, but the crispy bacon deserves its own round of applause — quite honestly the best I’ve ever eaten. The location is perfect for exploring both the river and the charming town beyond, but with rooms and food like this, you’ll be tempted not to stray too far. Quite Simply French isn’t just a place to stay — it’s an experience you’ll want to savour from start to finish. Every member of staff we met from check in to check out were wonderful

It was an amazing experience. I liked how relaxed it was! It's a five star hotel but not pretentious. The staff are so friendly and you get a five star and above meal. Woh the food was amazing, the taste, presentation, bit mostly the taste. , Plus no tiny portions so it suits everyone's appetites. We even took some food in a box for the wildlife. I know they are animal lovers !
I liked everything, a few more snacks would be good in the room, but having said that it does spoil your appetite, and you can get food in Lancaster. We only stayed a night so we didn't really look about because my folks are elderly. So ? The granola salted bowl was great, that would be nice as a extra, I would love the recipe too!.

My wife and I stayed in the Duplex suite, with the separate living area and the bedroom upstairs. And we loved it. Every little detail that's gone into the decor of this room has been thought through thoroughly. Modern mood lighting controls, easy to use temp control (note, for heating only!), to the complimentary canned water along with hot drinks selection, two champagne glasses with two crystal glasses. The bed is comfortable and there's hardly any noise due to being on the outskirts of the town, but still within a few minutes’ walk. Even entry into the building and your room is done by a key with a pin you certainly won't forget!!! This room is a must for a romantic getaway for two (albeit some may think it’s a little expensive).
I know its england(!) but that bedroom gets really warm in nice weather and there's no aircon. So its a choice between being hot in bed or opening the windows and having the risk of the noise (not much to be honest) letting itself in.

I stayed with my wife on the way to a conference. We wanted to spend some time together on her birthday. The rooms are above a restaurant. The rooms were super clean and individually and tastefully furnished. When we arrived the owner greeted us (yes - she's French - from Strasbourg). I'd said it was my wife's birthday and there was a celebratory balloon (we all love a balloon) and a piece of cake ready. We ate in the restaurant - the food was excellent (I recommend the really good moule frite) . It's popular - so reserve if you are booking, You should also let them know if you need a parking space.
It's not a dislike - but the bedrooms are up a flight of stairs. I didn't check if there's a lift (its an old building) so if you have limited mobility its worth checking that.

Really cool decor and styling in the rooms - really nicely designed and felt luxurious. Excellent and well thought out/convenient touches - lighting control, electric velux blinds, shower controls - everything was really easy to use. Lovely big fluffy towels. Huge and super comfy bed. The staff we met were really warm and welcoming. We arrived during their busy Sunday lunch service (you check in via the restaurant and then get shown to your room) and they were very apologetic about us having to wait (we didn't have to wait long!).
Our room (the Williamson) only had skylight windows. As we were only staying for one night it didn't bother us, but had we been there longer I would've preferred a view. We didn't have breakfast as we had to be away quite early but it seemed quite pricey (£25 a head). I can't comment if was worth it since we didn't have it!

The suite was magnificent, there were home made flap jacks in a small glass dome with the coffee. I was meeting my daughter for dinner for her birthday and they left balloons in the room with a cake with a beautiful Happy Birthday message and a also made a fuss of us in the restaurant. The bath was delectable with sweets and salt scrub, dressing gown and slippers everything was carefully considered. I could not ask for more...
I would have liked a foot stool for watching TV as the chairs are very large and swallow you up but didn't quite hold my legs too. This would have been the icing on the cake as this has been my favourite stay in a hotel for a long time. It is my opinion that when you get a room like this, you use it, I came early, I watched TV, drank coffee and pampered myself before going downstairs for dinner.

EXCEPTIONAL…..travelling globally for a living, I’m often underwhelmed by many hotels; however, QSF is genuinely exceptional. The room was flawless, quite simply couldn’t be improved even with the most critical eyes. There’s many a five star hotel who don’t come close to attaining this level of detail, finish and a sheer determination to exceed. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Lancaster now, I’m already making plans to return with my wife so we can enjoy a longer stay. The restaurant was very good, not too many ‘none meat’ choices but that’s just my preference / observation. All of the staff I met throughout my stay were warm, engaging and went out of their way to ensure my experience was first class. QSF is simply one of the best places I’ve had the pleasure of visiting.
Genuinely, I couldn’t offer a single observational improvement.

I was shown to my room and shown how to use the technology and where to find everything. Having booked a table for dinner the service and varied menu was excellent. The food and wine recommendations were superb. The bed and bedding was super comfortable, this is always a high priority for me. Having wine and water glasses in the room is a simple but thoughtful touch, along with many other little extra's - slippers, sleep spray, jelly beans etc. I loved the way the room is decorated and furnished, it's been very well thought out with good quality lighting, plug sockets where they are needed and usb ports. It's probably one of the best rooms I've stayed in. Breakfast was lovely. I had the home made granola (delicious) with forest fruits and yogurt, followed by mushrooms on sourdough bread with crisply bacon and poached egg. The breakfast menu was varied with something to suit all tastes. Attention to detail: the same table was allocated for dinner and breakfast and was set specifically for me (I travelled alone) and I appreciated the detail.
It was all so lovely, with the exception of the tea at breakfast which wasn't great, this was probably because a teabag was used instead of loose tea in the teapot integral strainer, which meant it wasn't able to infuse properly.

Loved the location,we enjoyed walking our dog along the quay . It was also easy to get on the M6 to get to the lakes and Carlisle. The room was very stylishly decorated and had a very comfortable bed . We also had an excellent meal in the restaurant on one of the evenings with our family who we were visiting.
Our only issue was there wasn’t enough storage. We appreciate there wasn’t room for a wardrobe but would have liked some drawers.
