The room was spacious, very comfortable, and the bed was huge! Lovely little touch regarding proper biscuits being provided (Exceptional shortbread) and a fan in the room that was necessary as the weather was very hot when I stayed. The separate bathroom was down a few stairs, but still within my suite - a large bath was provided as well as a very large shower. There was nothing cramped or confined - plenty of room to move around. The restaurant was very good, so much so that the colleagues I was meeting for my work visit to Lancaster chose to dine there on local reputation alone, not just my recommendation.

Nothing really; there was no real noise form the pub/ restaurant below, and the food was excellent, especially the cooked breakfast (Proper sausages!) I have no comments that relate to 'not liking' anything about the hotel or my stay.

Great restaurant on site serving a wide selection for breakfast, and offering a great evening menu with offers available particularly at the start of the week Sunday evening through and including Wednesday evening, e.g free desserts with meals ordered if table booked ahead. All the people that we interacted with were lovely and couldn't do enough to help. We have visited now a number of times when visiting relatives in Lancaster as it is in a great location in the heart of Lancaster.

NOTHING. All the rooms we have had have been comfortable with new shower facilities although I know some rooms have baths if that is what you prefer. The room we had this visit was in the Town house, room 10 and we found this to be quieter than the rooms in the main building which we have had before above the Bar area. Some of the areas such as the toilets in the Bar could do with painting but this is just a very minor criticism. There is no Hotel carpark, but there are numerous carparks around the hotel. On our visit it cost £14 for 24 hours parking

We were supposed to stay in Morecombe but had a horrible experience of police waking us up looking for someone else, we were lucky to find the Borough had availability same day and moved our holiday there. The staff were so warm and friendly explaining the place to us and showing us our room, I must of looked awful after the shock we'd had but the staff kept smiling making us feel comfortable and as soon as they left us to settle in I just cried from pure relief and comfort. Such a wonderful, safe friendly environment to be in away from home. Food was excellent, staff excellent and vibe Excellent. Can't praise them enough and I thank them for taking such great care of us on short notice.

Had a fantastic stay! The room was spotless — big shoutout to the housekeeping team for keeping everything so clean and fresh. We loved spending time at the pub and the restaurant — great food, great atmosphere. But what really made our stay memorable was Matt. Huge thanks to him for being incredibly patient (and good-humored!) while we unapologetically destroyed Jameson with Coke and ice 😅. Can’t wait to come back — cheers to a great team!

Really enjoyed my stay overall — the apartment was comfortable and everything else was great. The only downside was that the bins were located right next to the apartment door, and at times the smell was a bit unpleasant. Aside from that, a lovely experience!

The standard of the room decor exceeded my expectations and room no.2 to the rear of the property was very quiet. The bed was very big and very comfortable. Check-in was easy and conducted by very friendly staff.

I was travelling alone, but had I met a local lady and invited her back to view the luxurious lodgings I would not have been able to offer her a tea, since only one tea bag was provided. Similarly, had this theoretical guest overnighted, we would have had to share the solitary towel and she would have had to have been extra vigilant so as not to burn her bum on the furnace-like, single-400-degree-temperature-setting-bathroom-radiator. A night-light movement-sensor would also be handy to help navigate safely from the bed to the bathroom during the night, as even 8% alcohol Zinfandel can lead to nocturnal disorientation.

We stayed in room 6, which was luxurious, clean and tidy. The king sized bed was comfortable and the en suite bathroom was lovely too. We stayed for dinner and it was delicious, a little pricey but in line with the area. Food was prompt and cooked to perfection, drinks were delicious and the hotel itself is really well located, with easy access to the city centre and other visitor sites. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. My only gripe is that there’s no parking, which meant i had to pay £14 to park in a local car park. No big deal all things considering but it’s worthing noting if you’re visiting. I would definitely recommend!

The food was outstanding but the service was a bit slow. The bathroom was amazing with a heated floor and the room was superb with a view over Lancaster - and yes very clean. I will book The Borough again and recommend them.

The service at dinner was a bit slow. The same person was directing people to their rooms who were also serving at dinner - he had a cold and didn't wear a mask. I have health issues that make me vulnerable to colds. Also when I booked the room the price advertised was different to what I was charged. Booking.com sent a message on your site saying this was a deposit and would be given back when I arrived, However, it turned out this was not the case and the room was more expensive than originally advertised. The new price was what was emailed and charged on my card and not the deposit message or amount advertised. This did cause a bit of embarrassment and I don't think it was the hotel's fault - it was an error on Booking.com

The hotel is very centrally located and sits in a great pub. The rooms are in the floors above the pub but are perfectly away from any noise and insulated very well. The room was spacious, clean and the bathroom was modern with extremely good shower gel etc. Tea, coffee, water and shortbread biscuits were provided as well. Access to the rooms was available from the front of the building in a separate entrance to the pub. The bed was extremely comfortable and in the morning I had a great view over the sky and the Christmas ice skating rink and big wheel! I was shown to my room by a staff member who was polite and friendly. I didn't have breakfast so can not comment.

Very comfortable and clean room, subtle lighting and decor. The bar next door has a good range of beers and comfortable seating. The Resturant was busy early evening and I was served excellent food by cheerful staff.

Although there is street parking outside the hotel, the local council charge for periods 8am to 10am then again from 4pm to 6pm but only in one hour max period tickets. This is not the hotel’s fault but does mean you have to careful or risk a fine. I would suggest that some form of resident temporary permit could be arranged for hotel guests. There is an alternative pay car park nearby out of sight of the hotel.

Welcome drink upon arrival, bags carried for us to our room, a great starting impression. All staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Room was fantastic - OCD level clean, huge bath and a shower. Comfortable bed. Overall, great stay. If I was to comment on some very minor areas for improvement - pillows were too think with 2, too thin with 1 (might be personal preference), and the room was really hot even with the windows open. We’d stay here again, we’ve stopped in almost every hotel in Lancaster - this is bar far the best.
