The best place I have ever been to! I have travelled all around the world, but I never have such a good time as I had at Billie’s. I am not a huge hostel fan, but I am so happy I choosed this over an Airbnb, Billie, Art and Ray are so good harted people, and also I feel like all the travellers here were very genuine people. The hostel itself was super clean, very cozy, and had everything you might need. It had such a family vibe, and we really had a good time. Thank you so much for everything, wish to be back soon!
I loved every minute of my stay.

I loved the cozy atmosphere and friendliness of staff. Billie was so sweet and happy to answer any questions. Ray gave some great advice about chasing the northern lights and other activities in the area. I will be back!
Everything was clean other than some guests not cleaning up after themselves in the kitchen. At one point I needed a towel and there weren’t any. But we are all human!

The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always ready with helpful information—whether it was about getting around, finding a terrific meal (Thai), local tips, or just making sure I felt at home. Billie herself brings such a warm, positive energy to the place, and it sets the tone for the whole vibe. What I loved most was the community atmosphere. I met travelers from all different backgrounds and age groups, and it was easy to connect. It really felt like more than just a hostel—it was a space to meet people and feel part of something bigger.
Everything was great, though the laundry cost could have been explained a bit more clearly.

I loved everything. I had one of the best experiences of my life at Billie's. It was my first official solo trip at a hostel and I enjoyed every moment of it. The shared spaces feel cozy and made me feel at home right when I arrived. Billie is so welcoming and sweet, and she makes sure everyone has a good time. I cannot find the right words to describe this place because honestly, you just need to go there and live it yourself. I even met a friend there, with whom I shared some adventures and exchanged culture traditions. I wish I could go back! I miss it so much already.

Billie's is a hostel that feels like a guest house- because Billie lives here and many family members are also active in the daily running of the business. Billie's is located in a lovely neighborhood- safe & quiet. I loved the the rooms with their cozy rugs, well-equipped kitchens, and spotless bathrooms! This hostel is a few minutes walk to great coffee, a health food store, Museum of the North/Univ AK, World Ice Art Championships, and many restaurants & conveniences. Sometimes you can see the Northern Lights right outside your door if you go at the right time of year- even with the neighbor's house lights on!

Billie’s hostel is like a home away from home! My friend and I stayed in a private room for four nights and could not recommend it enough. The facilities are all clean and regularly attended to, and the place as a whole is BEAUTIFUL down to every last detail. The other travelers staying there at the same time were kind, respectful, and generous, and it was nice to have the common area space to either socialize or exist quietly near one another. Billie herself is also an amazing woman and anyone who has the privilege of staying in her hostel and meeting her is very lucky! Highly recommend and will return if and when I am in the Fairbanks area again.

Billie's is a delightful hostel - a great place to chill and enjoy the company of other travellers. We staying in a room as well as camping in the garden. Camping was on a flat grassy lawn with full use of all the facilities inside. The kitchen was very well equipped and the shower great.
Both the showers were in the same room as the toilets. A few times people were needing the toilet but long showers were keeping them unavailable. There's nothing that can really be done about this but it did seem to be an issue at times.

Billie’s team is extremely careful, attentive, and open. They even congratulated me with my BDay when find out about it. It’s extremely clean (that is always very important to me) and quiet. Not every hotel has same quality level. The safety level is also remarkable. Additionally, you get authentic northern grandma house vibe. Bonus points - it’s easy to see Aurora just outside of the house.

I’m an Alaskan illustrator who frequently travels out of anchorage to attend markets and events. This can be difficult outside of the summer months, as accommodations can be VERY expensive, even for a low level motel. I was very happy to discover Billie’s Backpackers Hostel, where I was able to spend two very comfortable nights for just around $80. It’s an EXCELLENT option for people on a budget. The house is beautiful, and very comfortable. I was assigned the top bunk in a room with 4 other occupied beds. The bed had a great quality mattress, and nice sheets. Bathrooms were clean, and Odor free. My fellow guests were all friendly, polite, and we all took care not to disturb one another. Getting in and out was hassle free, overall, it was an excellent experience. I’ll definitely be staying at Billie’s again the next time I’m in Fairbanks.😊
