Personable and helpful staff. Good sized room and we got a basic two queen bed room. The rooms are nicely decorated and the theme of being retro carried out throughout the property. Fun to see the things in the lobby and eating area. Wi-fi had a strong signal, beds were comfy, towels nice and thick. Coffee maker and the little fridge in the room worked well. Breakfast was nicely done with a variety of proteins, cereals, milks, hard boiled eggs, muffins, bagels...and something unique to all the places we went on our trip - breakfast burritos!

It's RETRO so that means the toilet is very low to the ground and the bathroom counter height is low compared to how bathrooms are built now so know that in case it makes a difference to you. Not all the outlets worked in the room.

Check in and out was smooth. Staff opened room with ice early for me. Great location. Large comfortable King room; a great value.

I believe the sheets on king size bed were not put on properly. Bottom sheet did not fit and for both my husband and me the sheet slipped off the corner immediately and was very messy....totally undone by morning and very uncomfortable. I know that it is possible to put fitted king sheet on in wrong direction and my guess is this is what happened. If this was not the case, the fitted sheet was too old and shrunken to fit properly, or the wrong fitted sheet was used. Either better training for housekeeping or new fitted sheets is the answer. We have stayed at Retro Inn at least 5 times and really like it. First time we have experienced this problem.

This is a step back in time replicating the days of ultimate motel overnight stays. We had the 1975 room and were greeted with bright colored walls and pics of icons like Rod Stewart & Elton John! The room was clean, the bed was comfy, and we had a great shower. The property is fun with all of the little outdoor patio sets in front of each room, the giant lawn chess board, all of the sitting areas, swings and gazebo. The game room is a blast from the past offering a pool table and foosball table. The entry is decorated with a vintage camper, Elvis, & a darling Retro Inn motel sign. The property is a little dated and nothing fancy, but it's a great overnight stop! The continental breakfast was a light selection but enough to get us on the road. If you are looking for a fun place to stay - this is definitely it!

A few more selections for breakfast would be nice but wouldn't keep us from staying again.

We really enjoyed the unique character of this motel. Each room has its own individual style – we stayed in the 1985 Maverick Room, which was creatively designed and a lot of fun. The room was very clean, and we appreciated the outdoor seating area on the lawn with plenty of shade from the trees. The complimentary breakfast was a nice bonus. Perfect for visiting Mesa Verde NP.

On the downside, our room was located right across from the breakfast room, and the air conditioning unit there was quite loud. Also, Room 1985 has a connecting door to the next room, and we could clearly hear conversations and the TV from our neighbors.

I liked the value for $'s spent - The front desk was friendly and helpful, room was spotlessly clean, I had a microwave and small fridge! ! ! ! Huge help for us. The mattress was comfortable, though I maybe on it's way to being time to replace it. We stayed in the Flintstone room. Grounds were nice and we enjoyed sitting outside to eat our dinner. Game room looked awesome for families with kids! Breakfast offered many options and was all we needed.

It would be nice to have a small bedside stand on both sides of the beds - we both have water bottles, phones that are charging and need a place to put our eye glasses as we go to bed.

Breakfast was adequate but not great. However, the grassy grounds with tables for picnic meals, the retro decor, and the friendliness of the staff made this a great place to stay. We stopped on our way from Oregon to Albuquerque and liked it so much we booked a room on our return trip. Enjoyed a few games of pool and some NBA-game watching in the rec room. It was nice to stay in a place where we could open the windows and get some fresh air in. This is not a modern antiseptic hotel but was clean and had very comfortable beds.

The toilet in room 1985 was a bit too low to the ground to the liking of senior citizens but it reminded myself of my old pre-ADA toilet which I replaced last year!

This is a delightfully cute motel. We had a super-spacious room with a mini patio just outside the door. Our room was decorated with posters of old TV shoes—Welcome Back Kotter, Three’s Company, etc. The motel has a clubhouse with a foosball table, a pool table, a few board games, and a laundry room. Breakfast is laid out in the hotel lobby, adjacent to a retro-decor dining area with old-fashioned tables, chairs, and booths. The staff was friendly. A great choice for a stay in Cortez.

A very nice place to stay. Nice grassy area for our dogs to play in in the courtyard of the hotel and they also had a dedicated dog run area which was an added bonus. the property was spotless and had a very inviting atmosphere both outside for the giant chess board, the swing and outdoor patio tables and also inside the club house. Our room was spotless and had the perfect amenities. the staff were excellent and you could tell they take pride in what they do.

I would only change one thing about the stay...... Update the toilet in the room to ADA height

Late check-in was easy. Our immaculate room was very spacious with vibrant colors & unique decor. The bed was very comfortable & the temperature was easy to control. The fridge and microwave were both in great condition and worked very well. The iron also worked just fine and the soleplate was actually clean! I liked that the bathroom fan had a separate switch from the light, and the provided mini toiletries smelled amazing! So amazing that I meant to ask if we could buy some extras to take with us when I checked out, but I forgot.

It would have been nice if there were some hot food choices for breakfast, and it took me a few minutes to find the ice/vending machine late at night, but nothing that would keep me from staying there again.

Retro Inn in Cortez is fun, funky and colorful. We loved it! Seeing items from our past, like the Airstream out front, pink plastic flamingos on the lawn, old TV Guide covers on the breakfast table, were all great fun. The many various and great choices of breakfast foods, including tamales, were fantastic!

The front desk clerk, when we checked in, apologized for their breakfast not being that great. We thought quite the opposite.
