We stayed at Pico da Saudade at the end of Feb, still low season so we were the only guest. The house if very big and cozy. The room had a nice view on the church and from the same window we could see the sea and the mountain together. The breakfast, prepared by a very supportive staff, was very rich in quantities and with variety of choices. The house has a private parking space, free wifi, very large rooms. The position is very strategical, in the middle of the north coast of Pico, which is very peaceful in that season.

As a real minor issue, there are not many electric plugs in the room (as we had to charge 3 phones and 2 cameras every night), but frankly I did not ask for a multiplier, perhaps it would have been easily provided... we could manage anyway. Also, if possible I would suggest putting light on the mirror in the bathroom, that would help while shaving.

Fatima the housekeeper was great in getting things done and giving advice on things (and just fun and nice to have around). The breakfast was basic but good, eggs were available every day. The kitchen was available for our own cooking in the evening. There's a superb bakery and restaurant just around the corner! There's a bus stop right at the door!

It's a bit isolated from anything (though it has the superb bakery and restaurant), so without a car it's a bit of a hassle to get taxis to go around the island. Some people wrote about cockroaches and I can confirm they are still around. But to be honest, the houses are old and they can almost just walk through the front door...

Convenient place to explore the island (car is a must). We’ve stayed in a detached stone house, the place has full privacy and equipped with everything needed. Evening chill at the terrace gave it a great atmosphere. Breakfast 8-10, ladies coming to clean, help and eg prepare the scrambled eggs. Nearby restaurant serves a good local food.

For us the check-in process worked well, though we’ve seen some people just waiting for someone to come at the reception. Just follow the instructions written on the door- call the number and you will be checked in within minutes.

Not quite friendly welcome by a weirdly looking man with a gun at his waist who didn’t know about my booking details. The room was not cleaned every day. Lack of drawers and other areas to store your belongings. Old worn stool at the desk was shedding pieces of leatherette messing the floor.

Great stay in a traditional stone house in Pico. Very beautiful room, comfortable bed and good breakfast. Very appreciated the kitchen availability for breakfast before the regular breakfast hour the day we leave early in morning to climb the Mount Pico.

A common washing machine for laundry could be a very good plus. One day I found a dead cockroach on the floor despite the very clean home.

Very helpful staff. The room looked super nice and quaint. Shower and bathroom were very clean. Breakfast was very good.

The window in the bedroom didn't have curtains so a lot of light came in (wasn't a problem with privacy because it was high enough above the ground.

This part of the island is less popular, however the area has special vibes different from the more touristic part of it. The place is also nice in a historical building, the breakfast was filling.

The water tank of the toilet had some issues but could have been fixed, it was fine for one day.

Staff not visible, except mornings around 9 am You need to drive 40 minutes if you want to eat in the capital.

Good location in a quiet village. Good size room and newer bathroom. Balcony next to room and lounge to use. Bkfst was good included eggs & fruits and fresh coffee. The place exceeded our expectations.

Wifi didn’t work well in the room, better in kitchen or lounge. Small fan. No fridge in room but can use the one in the kitchen.

Such a cute place! So peaceful it was really a dream. One of my favourite places I stayed in on my trip. Good breakfast also
