It is more a hotel (or guesthouse) than a hostel: I got a double room (without sharing it with another person) with an own bath, for the price of a half double room. So simply excellent for a short stay. There is also a fully equipped kitchen with some free coffee and tea.

The only complication was the check-in. I had not got any messages from the hostel here and as I came there (in the late afternoon = common check-in time), there was noone, the door was closed and the phone number on my booking confirmation was not answered. Fortunately there was another phone number visible beyond the glass door, which was the right one. But my door opening card did not work - well, I got a substitute one, but everything via the phone and because I tried it immediately.

The hostel is very clean and well-equipped. I really like the fact that they have a private bathroom in every room. The view from the living room is fantastic. Luis and Eduarda are very nice and helpful. The location is very good, too. It's next to the church and ferry terminal. It's also close to the municipal market and the supermarket.

The hostel is next to the port and they are doing some work so sometimes I found bad smell. Facilities are good in general but some are not in the best condition. Also sometimes I heard loud noises during the night but not every night :)

Very clean and nice. Well situated. We didn't have a Chance to meet an employee but there were really nice and helpful on the phone. Nice, altogether.

It smells very strongly to fish All the time, even at night because it is in front of the fish market. And there is a very annoying Bar just near the place... Not a nice one, a very loud one where the police has to come when people start fighting (yes, it did happen). The accomodation has of course no control at all about those two things. There was no problem at all with the accomodation but if you like to sleep with the windows open, it sure is important to know

Very pleasant, clean and comfortable hostel centrally located in Madalena town. Our double room had everything we needed, good beds, nice shower, ocean view. It is very central in Madalena, within a few minutes walk to the ferry terminal, several restaurants and a big supermarket. A beautiful natural swimming pool is also a few minutes walk. Nice sofa area to chill out. Staff was kind and helpful although they are not always there. But they leave their phone numbers in case we need to contact them. We always found parking space nearby the hostel too.

The kitchen was nice but could have a few basics to aid in cooking. Otherwise nothing else to point out.

Lovely staff, perfect location right in the center of town and close to the ferry terminal, clean and comfortable rooms with lovely little touches such as fresh towels each day and shampoo/conditioner provided. Kitchen was well-equipped and lounge/terrace areas were comfortable and spacious.

The kitchen area and fridge didn’t seem to be cleaned just before or while I was there, but with many guests using the facilities, it would have been good to clear out the fridge/cupboards from old food and replace the kitchen towels, etc, more regularly — it didn’t always feel very hygienic, which was in contrast to the rest of the hostel, which seems very clean and was maintained each day. I also thought there would at least be tea and coffee made available, from past reviews and the hostel description, but the tea and coffee facilities were all empty and not replenished while we were there.

Location is tops, very close to the Harbour and town as well as the dive shops. I also like the fact that there are dorm rooms with just 2 beds. Also, Luis who’s in charged of the property is very kind and gave me a lot of tips and recco.

the air-con can be a bit more powerful, this is personal preference as I like my AC to be really cold at 22 degrees Celsius.

The price and the central location of the hostel

It wasn't very clean, there were peanut leftovers on the floor in the common area which stayed there for days unnoticed. In the kitchen it wasn't very clean either. Very small rooms for 4 people with one bathroom for every room. Good there was a toilet upstairs to avoid the crowd feeling in the bathroom. Staff never greeted if you don't greet them first, totally uninterested in the guests. Good value for the money if you don't have an alternative, but not that friendly type of hostel where there's a strong community.

Big room, huge bed, great view over the port. Very close to some lovely restaurants, car rental and ferry. By car, 15mins from the airport, 5mins from the amazing restaurant, Stones, 20mins from the lava caves, 30mins from the Mount Pico start point.

We stayed right at the beginning of the season so the hostel and general area were very quiet so we didn’t get much in the way of atmosphere.

The accomodation easily surpassed our expectations. Based on the word hostel it was simply not what we expected. Our room was beautiful, the AC came in handy since it was really hot when we visited, and the common area was great as well.

It didn't bother us much, but if you have a hard time sleeping in noise you might want to look further from the port.

The location was excellent, pretty close to the ferry and main areas in Madalena. There were only tow people in my room which makes it more private. The bed was confortable and it is close to a pretty nice natural pool.

I was in the lower floor and the air was a bit stuffy, lack of ventilation and I could hear the people on the street.
