This was a quiet and very comfortable place. My room had a balcony and was overlooking the ocean. There is a fully equipped and clean kitchen in the main part of the house to use as well as a little sitting area for reading. The hostess was very helpful and went above and beyond in order to make my stay as pleasurable and relaxing as possible. She helped me with phone calls and shared helpful information. Breakfasts were healthy and to my taste. There was more than enough food for one person, for example there were 12 little jars of jam to choose from combined with a warm breakfast like eggs, freshly baked buns, vegetables, fruit etc. I would recommend this place and would go back there, it felt like home.

I had a truly wonderful stay at this accommodation – it exceeded all my expectations! The place itself is absolutely beautiful: spotless, tastefully decorated, and full of charm. You can tell a lot of care and love went into creating this space – it felt like a home away from home. What made my experience even more special was the kindness of the host. Not only did he help me plan my hiking route, but he also gave me great advice for climbing Pico. To my surprise, on the morning of the hike, I found a sandwich waiting for me in the fridge – such a thoughtful and generous gesture that meant a lot. The location is perfect for exploring the area, especially if you're into nature and adventure. After long days out, it was always a pleasure to return to this peaceful and cozy retreat. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area – you won’t regret it!

Lovely place to stay if you are visiting Pico. Only about 15 minutes airport and a short walk from the centre of Madalena (and the ferry terminal). The staff are great - super friendly and helpful. I also liked being able to use the kitchen whenever I liked, and having space to store food in the fridge and on the shelves. Breakfast was fantastic - lots of local produce, and the views from the breakfast room are amazing. Would definitely return.

Owners were super friendly and their house was very cosy with a nice garden and terrace. Just around the corner from the beach, where you could watch the sunset. Room was nicer than I expected from the pictures (the bunk bed was wider than it looks in the pictures and very comfortable). Breakfast was great with a lot of local foods. Very clean and equipped with everything I needed. And great price too. My biggest recommendation!

Very helpful host. Can help with anything. Spotless clean place. Nice breakfast room with balcony which you can use all day long. You have your own shelf in a fridge if you wish. So you can choose to shop in a close by supermarket and have your dinner here. Also a lovely garden. Close to the harbour. 10 min. walk. Behind the place is a trail to the down town area along the water front. VERY nice. Also within walking distance to the vineyards and the red mill. The place is perfect. Would stay here again and recommend it strongly!

I liked everything about it!

The room was relatively large and comfortable with a nice vew of the surf. Spotlessly clean and well-appointed. Plus, it was nicely "eco-oriented" with sustainable features everywhere and good information about eco-issues. The breakfast was excellent. Edna (a staff member) prepared eggs to my order - something I hadn't experienced in a long time on my trip. A very nice treat. The breakfast room also shared te view of the surf over the wall.

The location was nice for access to the coastal walkway on the south of the town, on the way to the southern section of the UNESCO WH site. However, it was a little far for walking access to the town with its greater variety of restaurants, the ferry, the wine museum, etc. There were restaurants and a nice Continente supermarket just a few blocks from the guesthouse.

The booking in instructions were clear, the room was comfortable, clean, and nicely decorated. Breakfast was excellent. The guesthouse is near the sea and close to two excellent swimming places. A supermarket is nearby and there is a fridge in the kitchen so making your own meals is easy. There is a large comfortable guest lounge and inside and outside place to sit. During the day a coffee machine is available at 0.5€ per cup.

This accommodation is one of the best I’ve stayed in . It has 8 rooms , and was more like staying in a Villa. And you felt at home , and could use the kitchen whenever you wanted. Petra the owner was very helpful in organising a couple of things for me , and her communication throughout was great . A friend of hers greeted me on the 1st night , as I was late arriving. Edna was a sweetheart , very friendly and chatty, she looked after me very well at breakfast, nothing was too much trouble for her . She baked cakes that you could help yourself to in the afternoon with a coffee . Would highly recommend a stay at CALMA do Mar if you stay in Madalena.

Loved the location, walking distance to centre of Madalena, great restaurants on the road and views of the sea, close to swim areas. The B&B itself was furnished to high standard, really easy to self check in, super clean and loved the fresh food for breakfast. Cute little balcony area off my room and good WiFi. Owners very communicative if needed. Highly recommend! Wish I could have stayed longer!

Everything. The concept of the place is being sustainable while making all guests feel welcome amd appreciating everything the island and the nature has to offer. Very tranquil atmosphere, nice and clean rooms with balcony, cosy and relaxing common area including a well-equipped kitchen we can use and a lot of books to read. Excellent breakfast with sea/garden view and local products, friendly and multilingual owners. They were very helpful and gave me a lot of insider tips for exploring Pico. The nature is very near, literally and figuratively too. Highly recommended.
