The hotel is in a fantastic location, just a short walk from the lido, the punts and the centre of Cambridge with its colleges. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely and big with comfy beds and although the decor was a little dated, everything was in good condition. It was great to have parking included and there was plenty of space in the car park. The breakfast was very nice.

The windows in our room did not open and it was exceptionally hot in the room although a small fan had been provided. We would have preferred a shower in the bathroom to a bath tub (or even just a shower attachment on the bath taps so that we could wash our hair more easily).

I stayed in this hotel to attend a conference in town. I'm very happy about my choice: the rooms were clean, the staff, especially the cleaning staff, were nice and welcoming. The position of the hotel is also not too bad - quiet area, only a 15 min walk from the centre, and well-connected to public transport. The only things that I would perhaps change are the fact of giving dairy free options at breakfast and maybe fresh fruit, as the continental breakfast option were just bit limited. However, the hotel does advertise a full English breakfast, and that was indeed served :). The other soft spot was the wifi connection, which tended to be a bit spotty when used in the room - the presence of a TV, however, is a nice compromise in case you can't use your device. Overall, I would highly recommend this place for a short stay, as the money - value ratio is satisfying.

The ladies on breakfast service were lovely Would totally recognise this hotel to friends and family. Actually already have told our daughter it would be a good place to stay

The room was a bit warm but not really a complaint, just personal choice as we normally sleep with a window open and they were sealed or locked shut.

Large comfortable and quiet room, good on site parking and very pleasant and helpful staff once we arrived at the Ashley.

We were instructed by email to check in at the Arundel House Hotel (not sure why) and when we did so the woman behind the desk was not very welcoming and gave us the impression that she was doing us a favour! When asked for directions to the Ashley Hotel we were dismissed with “It’s about a minute along the road”, it is in fact about 1/2 mile along via a somewhat circuitous route. Perhaps this employee would benefit from further training in customer service.

Had a lovely stay at the Ashley. We had a room at the front, which was nice and cosy with the radiator on. Bed very comfy. Very quiet, despite being at the front. Tea and coffee making facilities. Clean linen and fluffy towels. Breakfast was hot and fresh. There were also cereals, yogurts, pastries and juice available, plus tea, coffee and toast We were very well looked after during our stay by the lovely Jackie, who was on breakfast and rooms duty. Very helpful, and cheerful. Car parking is ample, and free. Would def stay again if we were back to Cambridge.

The room was clean, quiet and comfortable, which is the first thing I look for. The facilities in the room were of a good standard. The hotel is located not far from the centre of the city and so is easily within walking distance and allowed us to explore the sights with ease. As we were only staying one night, it was nice to be be able to leave the car parked in the car park after we'd checked out and go exploring without having to find somewhere else to park it.

The only slight criticism is that the breakfast could have had a bit more variety. Some places offer a range of alternatives to the traditional English breakfast, such as salmon or kippers, which would have been a nice option.

The staff was very kind, and especially Judy was incredibly thoughtful. Every time we met her in the breakfast restaurant or in the hotel, she greeted us warmly and kindly. Thanks to her conversations and service, we had a very pleasant stay. Thank you so much, Judy and the staff!

The shower faucet required both hands and a lot of effort to turn on, and we struggled with it every time. It would be great if it could be improved to a more user-friendly design for next time.

The hotel does not give a great impression when you arrive as it needs a lot of its outer paintwork re doing. The inside is dated but the rooms were large,comfortable and very clean. The staff could not have been more helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was excellent. They let us park from early in the day we arrived until late on the day we left. There is a large car park at the rear of the hotel. Excellent location for accessing the river path and only a very nice 20 minute walk into town. Will stay here again

As I said outside needs redecorating but this did not affect our stay. Just gives an initital poor impression

Extremely comfortable large, light and airy rooms. Traditional style, but the rooms were in excellent condition and not at all out-dated or tired. A refreshing change from the identikit modern, characterless and cramped business-style hotel rooms which are everywhere now. There was also lots of off-street parking space and the staff were very friendly and welcoming.

The coffee at breakfast wasn’t great. It was rather watery and served in a thermos flask. It would have been very nice to have the option of having high quality, freshly made coffee at breakfast (expresso, cappuccino etc). I would have been happy to pay extra for this. It would also be nice to have had a choice of tea bags at breakfast (earl grey etc). Other than that, the breakfast was excellent.

The outside, to be honest looked a little grubby and we wondered whether we had made a mistake. However, inside was very different. Our twin room and en suite were extremely clean and well furnished, with immaculate linen, white fluffy towels and smelled fresh. The breakfast was really good, with an excellent choice. We had the cooked breakfast, which was exceptionally good. The staff were really friendly. We will definitely use this hotel again.
