The property was in Doune,in the centre of town, a small town in Scotland, which was very pretty and interesting. The rooms were a nice size and very comfortable. The bathroom worked well in the shower was very enjoyable.

The breakfast wasn’t the greatest and I’m booking it said free breakfast. However this turned out to be a free continental breakfast. With a few hot extras. This was fine but I would’ve preferred to have known this at time of booking. The evening meal was okay, not the greatest. I’m very expensive for what was served. For example, I had skin on cod on mash potato and creamed legs. I have a tiny appetite and I ate it all. It was £17. Anyone with a larger appetite would’ve thought it was starter size.

Doune is a lovely place to visit, and The Woodside was, on the whole, a really nice stylish and welcoming place to stay. The choice of food and drinks and the service from the staff were excellent. My room was very well equipped and cosy, although the drainage from the shower was poor [maybe a maintenance issue for the management]. I chose the Sunday roast for my main meal, and it was the best I've had in a long time with generous helpings of the most tender beef, served alongside a good selection of vegetables. Breakfast was also very good and a nice touch is that the room price included what was a varied selection of choices from the Woodside's continental menu but guests, if their appetites allowed, could add a decent range of cooked breakfast options. The bar and external patio areas are well stocked with a good range of drinks, and a nice selection of malt whiskies stood out, but the internal seating area was a bit cramped.

Problems with the drainage from the shower, which was otherwise good with lots of space and perfect water pressure and temperature control.

We had a great stay at the Woodside. We actually returned as we stayed here last year. The staff were great and we really appreciated the room fan. The room was very comfortable and we had great sleep. The location is great also as a base for walking in nearby Callander. Overall a great stay.

I had a latte from the coffee machine in the morning and it was barely lukewarm. Also the bananas at breakfast were very green and unripe and were not good to eat at all. I’m Not marking down on this as these are easily fixed as continual improvement in hospitality is the norm.

Hotel newly decorated and the room was spacious and benefited from a great shower and comfortable bed. It was very hot during our stay but a fan was provided in the room which really helped. Bar and dining area and beer garden all excellent and staff were friendly and efficient.

Felt the drinks and food (although good) were a little overpriced and breakfast concept is a little strange. Continental breakfast for guests and then extra cost for a cooked breakfast not clear at time of booking. Only states breakfast included. Buffet area too small to help yourself with limited cold options. Some hot options were offered as part of the continental breakfast and were good.

Room, not the biggest it had everything needed for the night and the crisps / Tunncocks biscuits in the room was a lovely touch. The shower was one of the best we had in 2 weeks touring. Food - Sunday roast was excellent as was the lemon tart. Breakfast as standard is continental style with some added extras included, more than enough choice, you can pay for a full cooked breakfast and other options. The pecan and maple syrup on porridge was lovely and not something I'd had before, recommended though. Our car had broken technical problems, getting due to an accident so when we arrived we were a bit stressed. The following day we had to sort recovery out and the hotel staff were very kind and helpful to us at this time.

Signal for mobile telephone in the building was a problem,had to go on the car park to receive/ make calls.

We stayed here for 1 night and felt it was great value for money. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. There was a good breakfast included with the room cost, and you could upgrade to more options if needed, but all 4 of us felt the food included was more than adequate. The rooms were small, but well appointed, and with a nice touch with water bottles and a couple of snacks available. Would definitely stay here again.

No issues in terms of accommodation, but evening meal, a more mixed review....some dishes were good, but two of us opted for the soup, which was rather lacking in flavour unfortunately :-(

The receptionist was efficient and helpful. The hotel is beautifully decorated and clean. The bedding and towels are fresh and excellent quality with very thoughtful touches in the room such as the tea/coffee facilities and a "Welcome" box of treats with a personal note from the family owned hotel staff. Breakfast offers a lovely choice. We had dinner and the menu was ideal for us with plenty of options. The staff and owner could not have been more pleasant and we hope to return for a longer stay as the hotel would make a very comfortable base for exploring the area.

There is nothing we can add as the hotel in near perfect.

Lovely decor, great location, very clean. Good sized room and bed. Nice little extras on the tea tray in the room (crisps, tunic wafer bar as well as shortbread biscuits) Staff were very friendly.

The only thing which I found disappointing was the included breakfast was quite restrictive and you had to pay extra for a full Scottish breakfast or things like eggs Benedict. The pastries ran out very quickly and despite asking, were never replenished. I felt the (expensive) room rate certainly should have included these items. If it had then I would have said it was good value for the money.

Got checked in early - 2 hours ahead. The staff were friendly with a community feel about the bar area in the evening with locals arriving with their dogs. The food was brilliant, I had the sourdough pizza for dinner - one of the best I've had. There was lots of snacks in the bedroom on arrival - biscuits, crisps and great coffee - Taylors instant coffee bags. The coffee at breakfast was superb and I had a lovely bacon ciabatta all included in the price of the stay. Was definitely value for money & a lovely modern hotel with a good car park in a good location.

On my floor, there was a few odd pieces lying in the hall way towards end of the hall - free standing fans etc - these could have been tidied away in a cupboard rather than out on show.

The hotel is conveniently located for visiting various local attractions. It is set back off the road and has plenty of parking space. All of the staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful. We dined in the restaurant both evenings and enjoyed our meals, plenty of choice and reasonably priced.

When we have stayed previously, a full Scottish breakfast has been included in the price but this now incurs a supplement, something we did not realise at the time of booking. However, other breakfast items are included in the cost of the room.
