The location of the hotel is excellent and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. The reception area is very welcoming and the bar/restaurant is superb. The bedding and towels are extremely clean and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast is good with plenty of choice and the check-out time is up to 11am which we found to be a positive.

The humidity in the room was unbearable and we were unable to stay in our room for very long because of this. A fan would have been helpful. Also, some minor aspects of cleanliness had been overlooked, ie. there was a dirty tissue on the floor near the lift for the whole period of our stay. There was also a dirty cotton bud left in the bathroom and a plastic coffee cup lid on the floor in the bedroom. We were only provided with 4 coat hangers between 2 of us for our 2 night stay which was inadequate. We were unable to store our clothes on the shelves either as they were being used to store spare curtains and duvets.

Public areas were very nicely appointed. Bar was comfortable and bar staff delightful. Love the Burns connection. Hotel was just what we needed, when we needed it. Staff accommodated our requests very well. Shower was great. Room was quiet and comfortable. Double aspect views exceptional and a highlight. Hotel looks nicer if you go in the front door; but great location for parking and a big plus for us on our road trip.

One slow lift and we were on the fourth floor. Hey, its an old hotel and we need the exercise, so we used the stairs; but straight after breakfast it wasn't great for the digestion and for the old folks trying to get in an out it must have been frustrating. Breakfast was OK but dining room seemed under staffed - we ran out of coffee cups and no one seemed to be in a hurry or even available to replace them. Folks need coffee. Room decor was a bit tired; but fine for us.

Hotel in the central position of Stirling. Spacious room. Working WiFi. Tea and coffee available in room. Spotless. Everything as advertised. Excellent value for money. Recommended.

Note that there are events in the hotel ballroom till late night (Fri/Sat). (However, even that it was a wrestling tournament we did not hear any excessive noise in the room.). Note also that elevator is small, slow and claustrophobic. We were also lucky with parking (I can imagine the parking lot is full.) Check carefully the direction to the parking lot (sent by hotel beforehand) as this is not easy to find. Anyway, we can recommend the acommodation due to the outstanding location, great feel based on long history of the hotel, and surprisingly good price.

The property is right in the centre of town and right near all of the pubs and restaurants. It’s a nice hotel, despite being an old building, and has a nice warm inviting atmosphere. The pricing is very reasonable also. This is our third stay over several years here and would stay at the property again.

The room was incredibly hot and there isn’t any air conditioning. The staff were kind to provide a fan, but we were unable to open the window and the towel rail in the bathroom is on full constantly so it generates a lot of heat. It cooled down at night but this might be a bit too much in the summer months compared to November when we attended.

Good location in the centre of stirling , bar reasonable priced for alcoholic drinks. Breakfast was nice, and there was plenty of choice.. bedroom was small.but but was comfortable and had everything u need.

No WiFi in rooms, and we also had no mobile signal. Staff wasn't very informative when we checked in and didn't tell us anything about what time breakfast was and where it was served. Didn't seem to restock your coffee, and milk had to ask for more at reception.. parking could possibly be a problem as small parking area we parked up and didn't use the car till the day we left.

I always say to myself that I should stay in more places that are connected to a pub, so this was a good opportunity to do that! The Golden Lion is clearly a historical place, and I was pleasantly surprised with the value of the stay, and the quality of the service. The thing I found most enjoyable was the included breakfast in the morning. The staff were very accommodating and helpful, and the food was of excellent quality and had a lot of variety! I would return for this experience again!

The rooms were a bit outdated, but I guess that adds to the charm of the hotel. Quite a few of the public areas are done up, so they could consider updating more of the hotel rooms.

I loved the Hotel and the fact it has character and history.and it was clean and comfortable.As an 80+yr lone traveller it was everything I wanted.The staff at reception and in the restaurant were,welcoming,efficient and heipful nothing was too much trouble. My room was very clean and the bed was comfortable and I had a walk in shower in my en suite. The food in the restaurant was excellent well cooked and very tasty and there was something for every taste on the menu.and resonably priced.Breakfast was served buffet style with a a good choice of both hot and cold food and people on hand to give help if needed.My one small thing would be, I would have liked a choice of eggs,there was only scrambled available on the buffet. All in all it was a very pleasant experience and I would definately stay there again.

The Golden Lion is located in the centre of Stirling at the bottom of the road that leads up to the Castle in around a 10-15min walk. We arrived late evening and there was no parking available at the Hotel (this is clear when you book that it may not be) however a few minutes walk there is a parking area, which is free on the Sunday until 8:45 Monday (with 2 hours max booking available). the Hotel entrance leads up a few steps and the left door takes you into the bar area and the right door to the reception and entrance room. This is a large room with plenty of seats and quite. Check In was easy and the staff were all friendly for both check in and out as well as the night porter. The rooms were a good size and plenty of hanging space if you needed it. You are within a short walk to several bars and restaurants in the area however as we arrived late we also wanted to eat so the Hotel kitchen and many others were closed but luckily the Weatherspoons around the corner served until 12midnight. For the location, and access you have to the centre is very good and i would recommend a stay here if you are passing through.

The room looked onto a side building with a stairwell escape route, this is not an issue as for us we just wanted to rest one night but for others there is no view to see anything. The bathroom is OK, the toilet is located in the corner with a unit in front of you to leave little space, so be prepared to exercise to fit at times. No sockets at the bedside to charge devices and use at the same time.

Central location with easy walk from train station in Stirling. Even better was my room was ready earlier than expected and I was able to access it. Note that following day reception was happy to watch my luggage while I walked around the shopping area and local attractions. Not also if it is raining you can stay dry going via Thistles Mall near the bus terminal and exiting through Boots chemist… Hotel was overall great value and Cronies restaurant is excellent.. so onsite dining and drinks.

Slamming doors…from other rooms in area. Having a key lock that was ‘sticky’ and needed locked on exiting room (no latch lock - needed key). Also enjoyed hot bath but had difficulty with getting consistent hot water when using shower.

Room was cosy the heating was on. It was clean and comfy. Staff were friendly. Quick easy check in and out.

Room though cosy was small. Breakfast was not as good as all our previous stays (all 5 of them). Could of done without other guests vomiting out side our door. We had been esrned there was some sort of whisky convention, thats a step too far
