The Maverick is in a tendy/ affluent part of town. There were some homeless people around but they didn't bother us. The hotel was conveniently located to grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops, Oakland and downtown Pittsburgh. A door guard would be a good addition for security but we felt generally safe in the building and had no problem with the remote check in. The hotel and room itself was very pretty and cool looking. They left little rubber duckies for our children and cookies and drinking water, all complimentary and that was super thoughtful! The room was very clean but the carpets are black and showed every single crumb! A hand held vacuum would be really useful for guest to use before checking out. We all really enjoyed our stay and would stay again! Thanks Maverick!

Pretty much everything in the room was good to great. The pre-checkin was easy and it made check in day super easy. The entry codes were sent in a timely manner (there is no real check in desk). The room was very spacious, clean and well appointed: the bed was comfy. It was nice to have a microwave and small refrigerator (saved my Oakmont Bakery treat!). The Team was very attentive. It was nice to be able to get extra supplies from their storage cabinet. Will stay here again next week for my Mom's funeral as it's a peaceful spot. Also, I liked the church next door - just brough a nice, serene "energy" if you will (not a religious thing, just the beauty of the building is lovely).
The steps into the hotel were a bit challenging with heavy luggage, but there is an elevator once you get in. The TV could have been a bit bigger, but that's nitpicky. The lighting in the room was a bit of a puzzle and a little dim, but again, not a huge issue.

Spotless clean, great location, cute room I was a little bit pissed off with the check in process (they didn't send me check in details on time and I had to message them multiple times to get my room code but there was no response until eventually...more than an hour later... they answered) but honestly everything else was great to details. So I can't leave less than 5 stars for this place. Spotless clean, very cozy and cute. Also the price! There's a nice restaurant downstairs, but you can find much more in the area. I went to Duo's for some tacos and margs (yes duolingo's headquarters are right around the corner and they have their own Mexican bar) and 'Lorelei' for some champagne with a view. Both of them are 1-3 min walk. Also the view from the room was amazing. I'll let the check in issue slide and I hope next time i stay there I'll be fixed:)
Check in wasn't the best

The bed was so comfortable! The room was peaceful and had some nice details: the wall pegs for hanging items and the footlocker cabinets (because there is no closet in the room). The fridge was new and clean. The ceiling was tall and the room stayed pitch black at night the way I like.
Not much to dislike but the smaller things that could be addressed were the dimness of the room. The one ceiling bulb was too dim but probably so it wouldn't shine in the eyes of anyone laying on the bed. I asked about this with very nice manager and she offered to bring her floor lamp to my room to brighten it up; kudos to her! Also I would have preferred more surface space in the bathroom for my toiletries but I made do well enough.

The building itself was beautiful, and the room was really nice. The woman at the desk most of the days (we were told that there wouldn't be staff) was really friendly. Towels/linens were nice. Nearby (walking distance) to a lot of restaurants, ice cream places, grocery stores, etc. Had a little fridge, microwave, and keurig-type coffee machine. Loved that the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were the refillable (public goods) type and not the little bottles.
Totally personal preference, but we didn't find the bed or pillows to be comfortable so didn't sleep great. The water pressure wasn't great, and I had a hard time regulating the temp in the shower. Parking was really hard to figure out, and you had to pay for it

The room was huge, comfortable and stylish. They provided a hair dryer, ironing board, lots of places to hang things, coffee maker, fridge, safe and microwave. We had access to the concierge cabinets also, if we needed more. Their toiletries were refillable and not overly packaged. The shower had great water pressure and the bed was super comfortable. We loved the window seats and big windows: the view was nice and the building was peaceful. Check in/out was easy and the staff was super responsive and attentive.
We specifically chose the room because it had a tub, which we don’t have at home, and we’re looking forward to a bath after walking all around town, but the plug was broken. The staff was responsive and sent someone to fix it, but the replacement plug still didn’t work. Just a minor disappointment. Also, we used the tv to cast YouTube from our phone, but it would have been nice to have been provided an option or two for movies, since we didn’t realize we’d have to bring our own streaming options. Again, didn’t make that big an impact on our stay- just would have been nice for the price.

You cannot beat the price, especially for the location. Surrounding neighborhood was friendly, with tons of walkability to many fantastic sites and restaurants. Loved our concierge; and when she wasn't there, the concierge closet came in CLUTCH. Just being able to grab an extra blanket or garbage bag made Kasa the hotel chain I will book with again!
I love love LOVE old buildings, but just due to the nature of them, our room was a bit troublesome to keep an even temperature. A miniscule complaint, but I have to write something here lol.

The location is excellent, and the rooms are big.
The entrance does not meet the standards of a 4- or even 3-star hotel. Guests with heavy suitcases should consider asking for assistance from passersby. The narrow space can make maneuvering suitcases up the steps challenging while keeping hold of personal belongings. In addition, guests must use a code to unlock a second door, which can be inconvenient. The lack of housekeeping during my three-day stay was also disappointing. The trash can was not emptied, and the sheets were not changed or cleaned.

I was so blown away by how gorgeous my room was. Absolutely the best hotel experience I’ve ever had. There were so many personal touches - from the makeup wipes, to the cookies, to the extra towels. I loved that the tv let me cast Netflix from my phone. The claw foot bathtub was massive and perfect for a good soak. The bed was comfortable, and the pillows, too. And communication with the hotel through text was easy and quick. Genuinely, I would stay here again in a heartbeat and already sent the hotel to my friends and family recommending it for their next Pittsburgh stay. As a solo female traveler, the area was safe and street parking was very accessible. Thanks for such a wonderful stay!
I only wish that I could’ve stayed longer.

I liked the building and the room was clean and used the space in a clever way.
I hated the check-in experience. It's too many steps. First book thru booking.com then there were several other steps and I still was on the phone holding for customer service for 15 mins. Then I had to get the code and figure all that out. I don't always travel with a plan and often roll into a town and need a place to stay on the fly. The process here was a pain and I miss the front desk concierge!
