Decorated to a high standard. Warm & cosy with the most incredibly comfortable bed. Lovely quiet nights sleep with a lovely breakfast.
Needs some tweaking at breakfast. The warm fruit juice in cartons ran out & not replaced & the plastic cereal dispenser was broken at parts. No pastries, meats, cheeses for a continental choice. No refill of tea/coffee offered. Had to ask for toast. Staff member kept disappearing to sit at the front desk talking with other staff members instead of being in attendance in the breakfast room. Disappointing as up to this point all was perfect.

Newly refurbished hotel with large clean nicely decorated bedrooms, excellent restaurant and friendly staff. Particular mentions for George in the restaurant and Callum, who seemed to be everywhere ! The food was tasty and service was excellent and breakfast was good value and delicious- am especially recommending the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Thanks also to the reception staff who provided an additional fan for our room as we stayed on the hottest night of the year in Scotland! This was a last minute booking as our previous plans went awry, and thank goodness, because The Star was a fantastic and unexpected find. We wish them well and would definitely stay again in the future. To anyone looking to stay in the Kingussie/Aviemore area I would say stay here rather than Aviemore. The village has a good Cooperative store, a pharmacy, PO and hardware shop, an excellent cheese shop a, a chippy and a couple of art galleries.
Nothing really- our room was hot but so was everywhere else in Scotland that day!

We are mature cyclists. We are slowly travelling the length of the UK in byte sized chunks. Of the 20+ hotels we’ve stayed at this was by far the best for cyclists. There was a great cycle storage shed and an equally good drying room. The recently refurbished building looked and felt comfortable and professional. Food and service were both friendly and excellent.
We were unable to control our bathroom heater (senility perhaps)and with uncooperative weather managed to create an atmosphere not conducive to sleep. In some ways there was perhaps too much modern technology in our room!

The super king bed was comfortable and room nicely decorated. We were pleased to find it had a large tv with streaming services e.g. Netflix, Disney, Prime and a mini fridge with fresh milk/water. The room and ensuite were both spotless and appreciated the different light options in the room. Also dined in the Wolf bar which was good value and nice food. Had a brilliant view of Ruthven Barracks from the window. Would happily return.
For an unexplained reason, two staff members tried to enter the room at 8.30am in the morning. Assume it was a mistake. The room was quite hot and would benefit from a fan.

Staff very welcoming. Room was lovely - everything you need and a mini fridge for fresh milk. Beautifully decorated throughout. Food in restaurant excellent quality and a great price for portion size. Met the owner who was lovely and sorted our heating in bathroom. Very friendly atmosphere which is what you look for in a small family run hotel.
Only niggle was with prawns for starter at dinner - but very quickly rectified and we're delicious. At breakfast had a full scottish cooked breakfast which was great quality but sausages not cooked all the way through - asked if wanted something else but full from rest of beautfully cooked breakfast. As I said only slight niggle.

Excellent location, very clean, large rooms. Tea kettle and coffee maker were very welcome. Dinner in the hotel was excellent - though we were there at a busy time and there were issues in the kitchen with new staff, so we waited a long time for our main course. When we mentioned this to the (assistant?) manager, George, he apologized, ensured that we received complimentary desserts, and the chef came out to talk with us as well as to other customers. We felt very well-cared-for and would absolutely stay again!
Nothing, everything was super.

The decor and newness of the furniture just lovely , can see the quality in the furnishings Bedroom Was just lovely , loved the idea of a wee flask of fresh milk in the mini fridge and bottles of water replaced daily We ate twice in the bar area, meals and price very good, also had breakfast , again good choice The staff very attentive, friendly and all work as a team which was very evident Good base for going hill walking etc
Personally, there was nothing not to like really

Fabulous hotel! It's newly renovated so all mod cons - comfortable bed and pillows, marvellous shower, mini fridge for cold drinks and real milk, USB charging points. The staff are lovely, really friendly and helpful. Great breakfast with all you can eat buffet and choice of cooked breakfast. We came by train, it was less than 5 mins from the station and we accessed several lovely hiking routes from Kingussie into the Cairngorms. Highly recommend!
Nothing! All good 😊

The rooms were clean, modern and spacious. Bathroom was clean, modern and had all the essential toiletries. Breakfast was excellent., and the restaurant had amazing menu selection. We ate at the restaurant in the hotel and it was absolutely delicious. We loved what we ordered.
Maybe they could have Air condition installed in the rooms as it was hot during the time of our stay. We had to open our windows to have cool air come in through. That was the only minus point of our stay.

Lovely hotel which has recently been modernised. Exceptionally clean and all staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was good too, and our stay represented very good value for money. Would definitely recommend it.
The only negative was that we stayed in Room 16, and it was on the 2nd floor directly below where the smokers from the bar congregated outside. Our sleep was disturbed until the bar closed as it was too warm to keep the window closed.
