This is a historic hotel that has been updated to a quite luxurious accommodation. (Our room was named after Emily Siedeberg, the first woman in New Zealand to graduate from medical school.) Amazing bathrooms. Milk available in refrigerator in the hall outside our room. Great breakfast with opportunity to interact with other guests. Helpful suggestions for places to eat.

No air con, so fan was critical. Some "glitches" in the way the fan ran, but hopefully corrected by now.

From the moment we arrived, Victoria made us feel so welcome. Her beautiful personality, and her welcoming nature just made the check in seamless. The location is superb and the facilities are second to none. The beds are comfortable and to have a bath in our room (Holt Room) was a lovely surprise. The renovation is absolutely beautiful and the decor is lovely. Breakfast was great too. The selection of foods, and the staff are amazing!

The Lord Clyde was our most expensive accommodations on our 2 week road trip but definitely worth it! It was very cute with spacious rooms, nice bathrooms, and included homemade breakfast which was extremely tasty (and they were able to modify to make veggie)! Clyde is an adorable small town and very walkable and convenient for all the bike tour shops. We debated staying in Alexandra instead but were very glad we made the choice to stay in Clyde (and specifically at The Lord Clyde). There was no one there to check us in when we arrived during the check in window and our phones were having issues connecting but it was easy to find our rooms and keys ourselves and they didn't seem to mind! They also got us a dinner reservation at the restaurant across the street, which was lovely! Would definitely recommend!

the breakfast was simple and great quality. Limited choices was a delight as the available food was well presented, timely and great quality. More choice would have impacted on this. The use of seasonal local fruit was incredible. Beautifully preserved and delicious.

the limitations of the facilities, such as limited parking, were because of the historic nature of the property and settlement. Not really bothersome

The Lord Clyde is such a beautiful, immaculately cared for, old building. The decor is lovely. The breakfast provided is delicious and wholesome. The beds and bed linen are so comfortable, we had such good sleeps. Victoria is the wonderful host and the room staff are also lovely.

The breakfast was amazing - beautifully presented and exceptionally tasty. Victoria was an incredibly welcoming hostess and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this amazingly renovated hotel.

It would have been nice to have the option of a cooked breakfast - e.g. bacon and eggs, other than the baked eggs (which looked great by the way).

Our second stay at the Lord Clyde and it didn't disappoint. The rooms are beautifully dressed, comfortable beds and the breakfast is delicious! I particularly like the ability to BYO alcohol and snacks and consume them in the courtyard or guest lounge.

Little bit noisy with revellers/guests right outside our window (above the main door entrance) on the first night. This wasn't within the control of our host.

Location of the Lord Clyde is second to none. I love the mood of the hotel with a guest lounge and courtyard. Fantastic to be able to BYO alcohol and snacks and enjoy them in the courtyard/lounge. Mini fridges upstairs and coffee/tea stations excellent.

Quite a lot of street noise in the evenings 'waft' up to street-facing rooms. Guests tend to let their room doors slam, rather than assist the soft-close.

This property is unique, very old and stately. Beautifully kept outdoor space. Lady who runs this hotels special. She lives adjacent and is always available. She is hands on with everything and it all runs smoothly.

Loved everything except we didn’t stay long enough!

When we arrived at The Lord Clyde we were given an upgrade, our room was stunning with plenty of room. Very comfortable bed and plenty of space.We had a great breakfast, I haven't eaten an egg in 3 years but this breakfast might get me eating more. Beautiful home made bread and wonderful preserves. Unfortunately the hot water system broke down on our first night there but we were reassured that if it wasn't fixed by the next day they would relocate us to Oliver's across the road. When we came back from our bike tour all our gear had been transferred across to Olivers and we were given a guided tour by Victoria. We could not fault the service given to us. We will definitely be back.
