What a fantastic find, a short drive from Halifax and Sowerby Bridge. We got an overnight stay for £129, with dinner (£20 each to spend) bed and breakfast. The lovely Siobhan booked us in and showed us to our room, and she also provisionally booked us a table for dinner, as the Alma was getting booked up, which was a nice touch. The room (room 2) was well presented, with a stunning view of the local countryside. It has all you’d need, with an en suite with big walk in shower. The only niggle is the intermittent wi-fi signal. We had a great meal and every dish was delicious, with good sized portions. The selection of craft beers is also impressive as is the variety of seating options around the bar, dining room and huge outdoor seating area. Breakfast was top notch and every member of staff is a credit to The Alma Inn. They’re friendly, helpful and can’t do enough for you. Thank you.

We recently stayed at The Alma inn and really enjoyed our stay. On arrival the staff were very friendly and professional, our room had an amazing view of the country side and was decorated to a lovely standard, having all the amenities that we need on a short stay. The pub was traditionally decorated to a high standard. Their outdoor bar and beer garden was fantastic, a big bonus on a sunny day, with so much outdoor seating and the views were stunning from the front terrace. The food was lovely. Would highly recommend to friends and family. We would definitely return.
Nothing not to like.

The room was exactly as seen in photos. The bed was soooo comfortable. The room was really warm at a time when it was reallly cold. I loved the old timey bathroom features. And the little nook with a small bed was useful for me to lay out my bags (I was given a family room, yes!)The food was just lovely. I had the fish and chips, perfect batter. And the mixed vegetables - they were cooked to perfection - mangetout snappy and juicy. And the service was friendly and professional.
Although the location in one respect is great because of the lovely views, it is very difficult to access particularly if you do not live in the moors. Driving up and down extremely steep windy country lanes in the fog was not great.

This is an absolute cracker of a pub. Took a late punt on it while we were travelling and we were both happy that we did. Proper pub atmosphere when we got in, log fire on the go and hub-bub of folks chatting and catching up. Nice welcome, friendly and efficient despite staff being very busy. Our room was very nice, clean and tidy, great shower. Maybe could have done with a comfy chair and a slightly softer bed but that's just minor observations. The room was warm, maybe a little too warm overnight, even with some air through the open window. Again, that's a personal thing where I prefer a cool room. Excellent service at the bar and the food was really tasty (and generous portions as well). Again, friendly, courteous and smiley staff, nothing was too much trouble. We were both stuffed from the night before, so didn't do a full dive-in on breakfast but the menu was again very good by the look of it (nice range of vegetarian options). Scenery outside is great, a quiet location and superb value for money. Definitely recommended.
Nothing significant.

We loved the fact that it is dog friendly & would love to return with our dog. The location was stunning & we enjoyed evening walks in this beautiful rural location. There was a great food menu with lots of gluten free options which was brilliant as a member of our family is Coeliac.
The breakfast was a little disappointing with just one small slice of toast & no options for a different type of bread. There wasn't a great choice of cereals with the most common Corn Flakes & Rice Crispies not available. Also no yogurts, fruit etc . Found it strange that we were asked to pay for our stay the minute we walked in the door before we had even seen our rooms. Maybe that's the norm in England but we just hadn't experienced it anywhere else before.

The staff, the location and the food were all amazing. We stayed on the hottest day of the year so far and the staff who were obviously melting couldn't have worked harder or been more pleasant, bless them. The Sunday dinner and breakfast were delicious. Quality ingredients were used and would highly recommend.
Our room was very warm, but a very helpful staff member ensured we had a fantastic, so our issue was sorted out immediately.

Beautiful location, rooms were amazing and nice to have the extra little room for child to sleep, really cosy! Very warm (we used the fan provided!) spacious & had everything we needed (ie: iron , hairdryer) coffee facilities provided too! We had a key to come and go as we pleased due to family party we were visiting nearby. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Shame we didn’t make breakfast, we will no doubt be back again!

A beautiful country style venue. The bar is comfortable and welcoming with a great selection of drinks. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent. Portions were good including children's portions. Our room was immaculate, cosy and inviting. We had everything we needed and good heavy curtains made the room dark so we had a fantastic sleep and even managed a lay in. The surroundings are just bliss, peaceful and picturesque. We will definitely stay again when we visit the family. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We booked last minute - two mates traveling by vintage scooters home after a long weekends ride, the torrential rain meant we where not going to safely make it home, what a find !! Paying Avery sensible fee, it exceeded all expectations, we had two really nice meals evening and breakfast. The room was spotless and comfortable. Probably the highlight was the young but very professional guy in charge who couldn't have been more helpful 👍
