Strikingly beautiful mansion outside and in! Gorgeous dark wood everywhere! Perfect location to Carnegie Mellon and downtown!!! Within walking distance was key! Beautiful home! Very unique and lots of great spaces. Room size and bathroom size large. Beautiful bar and lobby area. Felt like being in a house rather than hotel. Great morning breakfast deal too! Parking on site included in room cost which was a huge plus to me as well! This place made our trip feel extra special. Very memorable!
I do believe I ended up with a different room than I expected. I was supposed to get a room with a fireplace but ended up with a 3rd floor room without fireplace and smaller windows. That room not quite as charming as expected but huge so I wasn’t too disappointed ! Also staff did not service my room and I asked for full service but my bed was never made, coffee was not restocked, and they took our wet towels but didn’t restock the ones they took.

The hotel is in a restored mansion, which is gorgeous. The room was a spacious suite and very comfortable. There is a pub that serves good drinks and surprisingly tasty breakfast. The price was very fair, and the location is a five minute walk to Carnegie Mellon, and also on a bus line. All the staff are very friendly and helpful.
It would be nice if the pub served dinner, but they only have pub snacks after breakfast. The heat dried the room out somewhat, although since it was <10 degrees outside and the room was toasty warm, I can’t complain!

Pulling in was a big surprise, it's absolutely beautiful! Lisa in the bar was very helpful, she even drew us a map( i dont think we did a good job following it though)😆! Anthony, not sure his exact title, but he was so helpful as well. The two answered all our questions and helped us to navigate Pittsburgh as it was our first time there. Checking in and out was smooth and friendly, sorry I don't recall their names. We were there 11/15 till 11/16.
The only negative was the parking but we made it work. The lot was very small. However, don't let this deter your staying there.

Loved our room on the third floor, plenty of space and thought the king bed was super comfortable. Nice big shower, great water pressure and water stayed hot! Staff was friendly, especially the bartender and the waitress for breakfast. I accidentally booked a room for the wrong date and I assumed I would have to just eat the cost because it was too late to cancel but the front desk asked about it and cancelled it free of charge—I was so grateful!! Thank you!
If they had a vending machine for soda or chips, that would be great. Got back from our concert late and didn’t realize they didn’t have a little hotel shop, but they did have bottled water and a coffee machine in the room.

Charming 3rd floor room. Very comfortable bed. Gourmet coffee. Nice, talkative manager. Help with dinning ideas. Great location.
No butler present at check in to haul luggage to 3rd floor. Breakfast box was convenient but not great. Pub was not open first night. No lite bites at pub. TV was inoperable at check out.

In my decades of traveling this may be one of the most beautiful properties I've ever stayed. My nephew is a student at Carnegie Mellon so I wanted to stay near the campus for his convenience. Upon entering the Mansions on Fifth, I felt like I was transported back in time to when I stayed in England in my 20s. The architecture, accommodations, service personnel, etc. were top notch. Exceptionally impressive.
It was confusing to enter the premise at night about parking accommodations. There seemed to have been a party or reception at an adjoining property.

We stayed for one night before seeing a Fall Out Boy concert, and I loved it. It is a beautiful property. Right off the street. But I didn’t hear a sound all night. The rooms were comfortable and very pretty. The woman at the front desk I spoke to when I checked in, was very friendly. Everything was clean. Normally I would think the price is kind of high for one night, but I thought it was fair for how beautiful it is. Breakfast was affordable and very good. Check out was effortless. And parking was free which is incredibly important to me because most people are going to have to use their car when they are traveling.

What a great find near Carnegie Mellon. My daughter and I went to visit CMU for a college visit. The Mansion is incredible and the Breakfast we had in the morning was very reasonably priced and tasted great. The service we had at breakfast was incredible.
I wouldnt say I didnt like this this, but it is not the most ADA accessible (which was not an issue for me). We had to carry our luggage up a bunch of stairs, but given how old the building is (but in incredible shape), I am not sure that those who have difficulty with stairs will fare. But other than that, the place was amazing!

This is one of the more memorable and atmospheric lodges you are likely to fine anywhere in America. Both cozy and grand, this was the home of a wealthy lawyer to the plutocrats of the Gilded Age, at a time when Pittsburgh’s steel industry was driving the industrial revolution. The lobby features an elegant lobby with fireplace, a grand staircase, oil paintings, stained glass windows and lots of mahogany. Our room was spacious, clean, and well appointed. The staff are courteous and efficient.
Light sleepers may want to avoid rooms facing the traffic on Fifth Avenue.

I loved the Mansion and the room, and especially the fireplace! I do wish there would have been a "lazy boy chair" or some more comfortable chair in the room, as my husband needs to sit in one part of the night to sleep. Also, it was a bit cold in the room. One more thing- it would have been nice if the breakfast was complimentary the next morning. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay alot!
Need of a "lazy boy" type chair, no complimentary breakfast
