Nestled in a residential neighborhood with a bar at the corner of the block, this place is truly a luxury stay. I loved having the whole place to ourselves. Modern construction made the level of comfort 10/10 with no outside noise (and it kept our noise inside). Spacious bedrooms, shower, kitchen and everything was clean and well labeled for our English-speaking group. 10 minute walk to the train station. 10 minute taxi to one of many amazing onsen (day-use spas). Come here to relax. Restaurants nearby are pricey because of the remote location, but smart travelers will know where to go for good eats.

The first time walk to the property is up a steep hill, so I’d recommend a taxi for the arrival with your luggage. No problem taking your luggage back down though. Wheeeee!

The location was very central for getting to all the top places to visit in Hakone. We had a car. The instructions regarding finding the house, where to park and helpful videos to guide us were great. There were two supermarkets just down the road where you could get most things we needed for breakfast and snacks. There was adequate seating on the couches and at the table for our group and the kitchen was well equipped. The washing machine was out of order but when we mentioned this a lady came around, collected our dirty washing and left it back washed and dried the following day for which we were really grateful.

We asked for extra pillows as we found all the pillows in Japan very flat and hard but we were told that wasn't possible. The beds were not very comfortable but that seemed to be the case everywhere we stayed in Japan.

You have an entire house to yourself. After falling over each other in hotel rooms this was so pleasant. The house is charming - very nicely decorated and very comfortable beds.

Not a criticism, but you do need to walk up a hill to get there. If you are not capable of walking up two flights of stairs without stopping, I’d suggest staying somewhere on the Main Street.

Convenient location, 10-15 mins walk from Hakone-Yumoto station. The walk includes an upslope climb so may be tricky with luggage and young kids.

The tatami room was stuffy with an odd smell when we first arrived.

The apartment is easy to locate and is near the station. The interior is clean and plenty of facilities are provided and in working conditions. Overall, this booking met our expectations and will definitely book again if travelling to Hakone again.

Great location and lovely to have room to spread out. The air con was nice and cool in the humid summer heat. A quiet little neighbourhood. Excellent communication with the host, thank you. Just to note, if you have bags you may wish to get a taxi from the train station, as there is a steep uphill part of the walk there. We found the walk fine without bags and very picturesque as you walk across two bridges over the rivers.

The location was hard to find. We don’t speak Japanese and had trouble calling a taxi on the day of departure. The host wasn’t able to help which was disappointing considering the price that we paid. We ended up going to the hotel next door, Maille Coeur to seek help. The 10am check out made the morning rushed. 11am would have been better.

Nice and quiet area. Great place in mountain area for escaping the city and have relaxing time with the family.

For the kids, internet signal can be improved by a booster upstairs. The penalty of 2500 Yen for every 15 minutes late checkout does not feel very welcoming.

Superb house, clean and there is a nice round table to chill and chat with family or friends. Beds were comfortable and house was clean. Location is excelent, walkable to hakone center.

There were no meal options for reservation (breakfast or sukiyaki).

Heaps of space. A short pleasant walk to the train station. Very comfortable and homely. Great facilities to cook at home. Perfect for families, especially those with kids a bit older as there’s rooms down stairs for kids and an upstairs master bedroom for a couple :)
