Fantastic location little hidden in the less touristy street of the old Stone Town, Aurelia is set in an atmospheric old building. We had a charming and spacious room on the top floor with balcony overlooking the rooftops. You can hear people on the street and the mosque prayers which add the experience. The four poster bed was huge and comfortable and we slept well. Big bathroom and the cold water was sufficient. Friendly staff and breakfast included in the price. All in all good value. We’d stay again, thank you!

The air conditioning unit was leaking water onto the floor. But we used the fan only at night, which is more comfortable anyway.

Great central location, walking distance to the market, rooftop restaurants like Swahili House and Secret Garden, and popular tourist sights of Stone Town. The staff especially Hussein and Tahera go out of their way to make sure that you’re happy and have everything you need. The tourist shop next door was also great for prices.

When you stay in Stone Town don’t expect it to be peaceful and quiet as it’s in a very built up area. The rooms are all accessed via steep stairs so keep that in mind if you have mobility issues. There were some issues with payment but they’re working hard to resolve theses and also were really patient while we did.

Great location in the heart of stone town with shops very close by. The staff were very helpful, especially Omari and Hassan. The bedroom was big with a very large bathroom and a net covering the bed which is needed with the mosquitos around.

Breakfast was average and dry, so we did not eat much. It would have been nice to have a mini fridge in the room too as it is very hot and cold water is needed at all times!

Great location, very central. It's a really interesting building, loads of history. Lovely host, very informative. There was a problem with the air-conditioning unit in our room, and they changed our room instantly, with no question. Nice breakfast, not the biggest of choices, but what we had was very nice.

Location, spacious rooms on the 2nd floor with a lovely view over courtyard. Very friendly and helpful staff.

The top floor rooms are much morse than the 2nd floor some. It’s absolutely worth spending extra couple of dollars and ensure you booked a room on the 2nd floor.

Hussein at the reception was nice and helped us booking transfer on our way out. The room was good size and the bed confortable. Breakfast was simple but OK. In general, a good value for money

Not in the best area of Stone Town, but with easy access to shops and restaurants. Bathroom outdated. Some noise from the street below.

Location was great. Breakfast was basic, but different every day. Great resturant oppisite hotel. Cooldrinks and water for sale in voyer of hotel, which was great. Wifi was great and aircon also.

No kettle or bar fridge in rooms, especially for longer stays.v

The staff were super helpful and friendly and the breakfast was delicious! The room was very spacious, with AC and a fan, the shower was very good and the bed was quite comfy and had a moskito net as in the pictures.

The stairs had irregular steps, so a few of them were quite high. It was not a problem for us, but it's worth noting if you have any restrictions in that regard. We stayed in the top floor, so we could hear the birds walking on the roof from very early on in the morning, which bothered my wife who has a light sleep. If you are like me and don't wake up easily, hakuna matata. Ps. We were awakened by the prayer call at 5:20am, but I guess that would also happen anywhere else in town.

Gives you a great feel of stone town in terms of location. Hussein was quite welcoming. The rooms are really clean and it always felt secure.

The AC always seemed to malfunction. Getting it to the perfect temperature was impossible. The bathroom once had a leak and got flooded from above.
