We had a great stay at Margarita House. Good location - walking distance to the Waterfront Mall -- in a safe neighborhood -- we walked back from dinner twice and no one bothered us (bring a small flash light as there were some uneven paths in the dark). There's a security guard on duty at the gate so one is doubly secured. Spacious rooms. Hearty made-to-order breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff -- special thanks to Gladys. Lush grounds, ergo, lots of bird sounds. We used their reliable driver, Jesse, to get around.

Sound travels in the corridor due to concrete floors and walls but it was not a big issue as most guests kept noise level to a minimum.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and meals we had there very tasty. The owner/manager even invited us to join her and her guests at her party when she saw us by the pool one afternoon. Pool was also lovely. Jesse the driver met us at the airport and took us to the hotel and he also did excursions which we took him up on and he made some great suggestions for activities.

There was no bar but given it is such a small hotel this is understandable. But as drinks were available at meal times and offered to us when by the pool this turned out to not be a problem. Reception not 24/7, again understandable due to size of hotel but that didn't matter as security is 24/7 so we were able to get back to our room after coming back from a gathering on new year's eve in the early hours. So really there was nothing to complain about.

We traveled with our toddler and made full use of the playground and garden in the afternoons. The staff were very friendly and the location was great for seeing many attractions within 20-30 mins drive and large Waterfront shopping mall in walking distance. The breakfast was a la card and very generous and we could even have it in our room.

It's not in the hotel's control, but the neighboring properties have guard dogs that occasionally bark at night, so keep that in mind if you have a light sleep. Depending on the season you may have mosquitoes coming in, we recommend to use of the fitted nets and have repellent ready from the first night.

Staff made the stay! Wonderful service and really tried to find ways to make our stay easier and more comfortable. They held our extra luggage when we went to the coast for a few days without any additional cost and were really helpful for my daughter who had to stay a day on her own, letting her hang out and work before going to the airport in the evening. Thank you!

Lighting in the rooms. We know electricity is expensive in Nairobi, but lighting made evening activities in the room difficult--reading, packing etc. I recommend an upgrade particularly for reading lamps and use LED bulbs to save $$.

The staff are exceptional, from Joel who was very responsive when communicating prior to our arrival, to Gladys who was at reception and breakfast, she was incredible, always lovely, with a smile on her face and supper attentive and proactive. She gave us all info we needed, got our breakfast orders the night before so when we arrived for breakfast it was ready for us. The room was great, really big and extremely clean. I liked the location as it was close to the main attractions. Would definitely stay again!

The staff were absolutely wonderful! Natasha, Gladys, Rachel, were incredible, as were all of front line workers. I felt safe, welcomed and looked after from the moment I arrived (which was late at night, and I was a solo female traveller coming from a different continent). The facilities and location are lovely, spacious, yet cosy. The rooms were perfect and I slept well every night. The hotel is fantastic, right down to the cosy fireplace. Thank you to the amazing staff.

Bring good earplugs if you’re a light sleeper! The rooster crowing in the morning (which I loved) and the neighbour dogs barking at night can get a little loud. They do supply earplugs in the room.

The Margarita staff were so friendly, kind and helpful, they really were passionate about making our stay as comfortable as possible, particularly Gladys, who first welcomed us to the hotel. The location is beautiful, convenient and feels very safe, the rooms and hotel are kept exceptionally clean and tidy. The food was delicious and good value. Out of all the hotels I've stayed in while visiting Kenya, this is the best experience I've had by far.

Bear in mind that most Uber drivers don't seem to know where the hotel is - the postcode tells them to drop you off about a mile before you reach the true address. For this reason I recommend booking an airport taxi transfer through the hotel (particularly if you are arriving at night). Just makes it a lot easier :)

Really nice property, a bit detached from a city center but that was exactly what we were looking for - to enjoy Nairobi's natural parks. For this purpose, Karen is a great and very safe area to be located in. Very close to the Giraffe centre and Nairobi Animal Orphanage. Room was quiet and very comfortable. Breakfast has a good selection of your choice. Decent dinner is also available upon request. They can arrange for any service you need - from airport pick up/drop off to whole day driver if needed. Manager is taking a really great care of customers staying in Margarita House. You feel welcomed and taken care of from the very first moment. Compared to next safari accommodations, this was absolutely superior quality if comparing price performance.

The staff was amazing, I was able to communicate with them through whatsapp and we had rather late checkins and needed airport rides and they were very kind and organized. We arrived late one night coming back from a long drive and I messaged about food and they let us pre order and then served it to us in our room when we arrived. Natasha, Rachel, and Dennis were an excellent team and the breakfasts were exceptional and exceeded expectations. We would absolutely go back!

The location was great for the activities I planned (with a local friend). The WiFi was sometimes intermittent - and only having internet as "TV viewing" was limiting (a fellow guest wanted to watch a football match on DTV and nothing available). The breakfasts were very good - however every day was the same (not apparent that you could have something different on other days). I made a suggestion on my last day that they perhaps offer jam with breakfast (only butter on the table for toast every day). The staff (everyone from desk clerks to cooks to wait staff and front guard (especially Joseph) were excellent. They are all welcoming and hard working.

Wish Wi-Fi was available all throughout the property not just room. No variation in breakfast. One evening I ordered dinner (ahead of time as requested) and decided to have a glass of wine with dinner. The wine arrived when I was almost finished with food. More coordination / restaurant style ordering - ask if you would like something to drink, bring it to the table and then bring your food. As a small kitchen, I think there are some pointers they could learn.
