The property is an elegant renovation of a New England period architecture. It was easy to walk to the town, shops and restaurants. Portsmouth has a lot of New England charm. The bed was extremely plush and comfortable. The decor was beautiful inside the room and throughout the Inn. The owner John greeted us when we arrived, he explained the history & renovation of the property and made us feel genuinely welcome.

I wish they offered a real breakfast but they did offer delicious bakery items and coffee. No seating for breakfast so you had to bring it back to your room.

Beautifully restored property with a lovely classic feel to it. We stayed in the third floor ‘honeymoon suite’ which had a large bedroom and a lovely bathroom with a huge shower and a roll top bath. Lots of little extras included. Central location with good parking. Something a little bit special.

The property is self check in which wasn’t a problem but a word of advice if you are travelling from overseas and don’t have a US phone. The message with room allocation is normally sent by text message. However my UK phone doesn’t accept texts whilst in US so we didn’t get the message. The owner could see that there was an issue as he couldn’t reach me by phone so eventually used WhatsApp to contact me. Suggest that you use a mobile phone number that can receive text messages whilst in the US -my husband’s phone had a roaming package so we should have used his number when making the booking via Booking.com. This was all sorted out with the owner but including this information for the benefit of other international travellers.

This property is Gorgeous spotless and pristine it was the best property I’ve ever stayed at and I’ve traveled a lot. It just was so wonderful peaceful and quite but within walking distance of all fun things in Market Square this property is a good value also the bed and down pillows were so wonderful we had such a great nights sleep I cannot rave enough.

There is not one thing that was not done to perfection!

The room was very spacious and beautifully appointed! Love that there was room to move around and the bathroom was nice and spacious too! Spotless and the furnishings were are all so special! Thoughtful cold water in the fridge upon arrival was a bonus! Dreaming of coming back!

So minor but wish the blinds were double hung so you could have privacy but still have natural light :)

The inn exceeded my expectation and I would stay there again. Great place to stay and the owners were very helpful. If you find yourself in the area stay here you want be disappointed. I can say enough good about the place it was perfect.

Never did figure out the TV system. Thankfully, not much time for TV anyway. A small desk or sitting table would have been nice in the room.

This is a beautiful independent boutique Inn. The restoration by the owners is spectacular. The beds, bed linens, decor, and luxe bathrooms are perfect. Have stayed there twice, will be going back again soon!

The room was very clean and had everything we needed. The kitchenette area was a bonus with water, snacks, coffee and tea. The location was right near the little town, everything was within walking distance.

Located in a beautifully restored building from the 1700s, this inn is lovely. Although the check in and out process is automated, with no people directly involved, it worked well. We met the owner as we were leaving and he was very pleasant.

Excellent location.. beautifully furnished .. rooms are big .. with large bathrooms .. cozy extremely comfortable classic New England Historic Inn.. definitely would go again
