Quiet, great food, the breakfast pack for the morning is quite a good compromise. Breakfast is served as a pack in the evening , but fresh milk and yogurt is in fridge in room. It’s a Pretty neat idea to allow quick departure but it’s not a big enough inn to offer cooked breakfasts if that’s your thing . The staff are super friendly though and at least one lives on site.

Do be aware that the pub closes on a Sunday afternoon about 5:30pm, last food 4pm. No other food in village so either book Sunday roast and eat well there or expect to get takeaway delivered if possible, or travel to another village for food on Sunday night.

An old country inn set in a quiet historic village within easy reach of Southwell and Newark. Very welcoming and helpful staff. The room was located across the courtyard away from the main building and was very generously proportioned, well equipped and comfortable. We also dined at the inn that evening and weren't disappointed.

The bathroom was a little small but the walk-in shower was good. The bed was big but a bit on the soft side. Only continental breakfast was on offer (which was pre-prepared the day before) and taken in our room, but there was a fair variety of foods available.

The friendly welcome, the luxurious bathroom and the very comfortable super-sized bed. There was a generous supply and good variety of cereals, breads etc in the continental breakfast basket provided the night before, and it was nice to have a well-stocked fridge with fresh milk, yoghurt and juice.

When we used the toaster it set off the smoke alarm and we had to flap towels under it because we couldn't reach it. We were confused and rather disappointed that although the information folder said that there was a Nespresso machine and coffee pods they were not actually provided and we had to make do with instant coffee.

Clean, extremely comfortable in a lovely picturesque location. Loved the continental breakfast in the room, you had thought of everything! So much choice for breakfast, cereals, bread, toast, pan au chocolates and loads more. Loved the table in the room with all the breakfast items put in the night before. Such a cosy, comfortable and well put together room with quality furnishings. The front of house manager was so friendly and welcoming. We also visited the pub which does very good well kept beer and delicious high quality food. You clearly have a very good staff team that work very hard. Thank you for a lovely stay, love to come back.

Nothing! Everything was perfect!

Our first impression of The Dovecote was that we had made a very good choice. What a great set up and our room (number 1) was lovely. Cosy and with all the facilities we could need. The plentiful breakfast in the room is a great touch too. The ultimate breakfast in bed! Sadly, my partner Julie was unwell on Saturday evening, which meant our plans for a cosy meal & bottle of red will have to wait for our next visit. Definitely a 10/10 from our experience so far. Thank you!

The Room was perfect, a great size very spacious, great decor throughout. The Staff were great & couldn’t do enough to ensure everything was exactly as you required it. The food was lovely!!!! & Priced reasonably.

No cooked breakfast, but you couldn’t fault the choice & effort put into the continental styled feast. The TV was quite small & well away from the Bed. Possibly needs an extra light sensor (corner of the building) for exiting the building when pitch black.

I arrived late in the day and was delighted to be offered a choice of hot meals, very welcome after a long drive. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Accommodation was excellent and very comfortable. Slept very well.

Breakfast was a selection of pain au chocolat, brown white breads, butter jams, cereals yoghurts fresh orange, water and tea and coffee in the room. Maybe not for everyone but was great for me and enjoyed it very much.

The Dovecote Inn is one of those places that i don't really want to tell anyone else just how nice it is just in case it gets far too popular & we don't get to stay again! The bedroom looks better than the website photo, which isn't usually the case! The idea of a breakfast tray in the room is perfect, especially with an early start like we had. We had a meal in the restaurant, delicious, all three courses! Hope we get to stay again.

The one & only thing i could think of that i wasn't too keen about was the loose sugar in the canister!

Welcoming staff, lovely quality continental breakfast. Large airy room with novelty of ensuite plus downstairs bathroom (with a bath and shower which is rare) Fabulous location in a historic village. Pub food was excellent, the desserts in particular! We would definitely come back.

Bed wasn't as comfy as we would like and the downstairs bathroom bin hadn't been emptied after the last guests which was not so nice. Was very dusty in places, needs a full going over rather than quick tickle!

It's a beautiful place,with a very old inn. Our rooms were in a separate building-may have been the old stable block or similar. The living/bedroom is a beautiful room,with oak beams,and is wonderfully quite and private. The bathroom downstairs is stunning too,a large room with separate shower,and a beautiful roll top bath. The Dovecot is now on our list of favourite places to stay,and when we're going to Notts'County show,we'll book it again. Exceptional!
