The staff were incredibly lovely and accommodating, and I was thrilled to meet Zorrow, the most beautiful dog! The pub atmosphere was great, and we really enjoyed our room. However, the bed was really uncomfortable, which was a bit disappointing. Aside from that, it was a lovely stay.

Aside from the uncomfortable bed, the only other downside was the lack of vegan options at breakfast. I had emailed before our stay to confirm that vegan options would be available and was assured there would be. However, nothing on the menu was labeled as vegan. The lovely staff did bring us some beans and tomatoes, but it would be great to see at least one dedicated vegan option on the menu.

We dropped our son off at Sheffield University and wanted a break on the way back to Essex. Oh, and we had entered the Sherwood Pines 10km race as well. The Forest Lodge was in a great location for us for access to the A1 and also Sherwood Pines for the race. There was parking available when we arrived. The proprietor met us and booked us in - a lovely, friendly gentleman. We also met Zorro, the 4yo doggo whom is so lovely. We hadn't pre-booked anywhere for dinner (on a Saturday!) but they booked us in and we had a most delicious Indian meal (out of a selection and English/pub/Indian). We stayed 2 nights - the cooked breakfast was lovely - only had that the 2nd morning as we were racing on the 1st morning. Room was great albeit slightly cold but slept very well, bed really comfortable, shower good, cleanliness great, and staff were fantastic. I didn't get the guy's name, but the chap who attended to us on both Sat and Sun night was a great guy. Thank-you! With our experience we would definitely stay here again.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fantastic Stay – Highly Recommend! This B&B exceeded all expectations! The room was beautifully designed, spotlessly clean, and had a real luxury feel. The bed was super comfy, making for a great night’s sleep, and the bathroom was modern and well-equipped. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, with plenty of choice and high-quality ingredients. The host was so welcoming and attentive, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. I honestly couldn’t fault a thing—an exceptional stay from start to finish. I’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend it to anyone!

Nothing to criticise

We stayed here for one night as we had an event at Sherwood Forest and the lodge was a 5 minute drive. The room was cosy, slightly cold but nothing an extra blanket didn’t sort. The food was amazing, I had the steak and ale pie and my partner had a steak. We also had tomato soup and chicken wings for starters and shared a chocolate brownie for dessert, all of it was fabulous. The staff were lovely - big thanks to the lady who worked the breakfast shift 26/01, she was so kind and catered to us. Zoro the Labrador was a lovely boy, I believe I spoke to the owner who explained dogs are allowed to stay overnight for only an extra £15 - which we was very happy to know!

Stayed here with the family to attend a wedding at Inkersall Grange Farm. The location was good and only a very short drive to the venue. Marc checked us in earlier than expected (thanks). Bar area was nice for drinks while we waited for our taxi. The breakfast choice was varied and good quality, the lady who served us was really nice and especially good with our two kids. Spent sometime the next day at Rufford Abbey, which is only a few minutes' drive before going home. Would definitely recommend/ stay again if in the area.

Really wonderful stay with fantastic location. We needed a dog friendly place to break our journey from London to the north. The forest lodge was very quiet, clean and cozy. We could only stay for one night but would love to stay again. Area is very picturesque with Sherwood Forest walking trails 2 minutes away. The host was extremely welcoming and £15 surcharge for a dog to stay is pretty good value. Breakfast was very nice and I recommend the eggs Royale!

It is very cute and quirky. They have kept the traditional features of the pub with roaring log fire. The staff are extremely welcoming and introduced us to their dog Zoro who is adorable. We stayed one night and had a great sleep, the food was amazing and the bar staff lovely. The young lad in particular funny and chatty but not too in your face. The location is brilliant to access Sherwood Forest and local shops.

We loved the warm reception from the staff. They were particularly welcoming to us with our dogs, providing an area for us to eat. The food and service was excellent and the room very comfy. The hotel is right next to Sherwood Forest and there’s loads of parking.

The room was tucked away at the top of a steep staircase which wasn’t ideal with dogs and generally the decor is a bit tired. But the friendliness of the staff more than made up for this. And the great food.

The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The bed was comfortable. The downstairs facilities, the bar, the restaurant were really good. All the staff were efficient, polite and extremely friendly. The location of the property was perfect.

There was nothing about the property we didn’t like. It was beautiful, old and very quaint. We will definitely return. The only thing I would say if possible to be improved, would be the car parking spaces. We have a wide sports car, and although we park away from other cars, when another vehicle is parked next to you, it’s very tight to get out. However, this would not stop us from booking with The Forest Lodge again.

We had a big twin room which was very clean. Breakfast was great with a cooked option and cereals, yoghurt, fruit and toast. We were able to park our car in the car park before check in time so we could go for a walk around Sherwood Forest. All of the staff we spoke to were very friendly and helpful.

Our room was over the bar area which wasn't a problem for us as we were out until late in the evening but may be something other guests wish to bear in mind when booking.
