Excellent hotel
The almighty noise from the DJs music on Sat (till 3am) and Sunday (2am). I'm surprised it is allowed that loud for the party goers but for some of the hotels residents the noise affected our ear drums & I had ear plugs and a pillow over my head and could still hear it as clear as if I was in the bar!

My 2 young daughters and I stayed in one of the Martello apartments which was perfect for us with its 2 single fold away beds and a lovely double bed in another room. The food was delicious my girls very rarely Finnish the whole meal they certainly did in the Martello! The staff (Including the door men) were very kind and pleasant to me and really nice to my girls even the lovely black cat came over for a pet. All in all I we will be going back to Martello next year.
You know if I'm honest I was expecting loud music, drunks and god knows what. But our stay was just perfect and it wasn't a one night stay it was 5 nights over the weekend during the Easter break.

Two every different experiences. First was with my family booked apartment four of us 2 children was great apartment room and located somewhat further from the full on noise as sound of DJ yes noise but not excessive was not too bad at all . It was an excellent stay . Loved it Second visit... room very close to the night DJ events and I'm over the clubbing scene stage lol 😂 but we understood the venue does mention late DJ events The rooms for the near 50,s over 50's if asked aged when booking or through booking.com could help reception staff look at room availability a bit higher up than 1st floor...just an observation/ recommendation. We enjoyed the staff engagement, the service, the food It's an absolutely gem of a hotel. My visits are due to hotel being within walking distance to my mums nursing home as I travel from UK to see my mum .
Love this hotel as it's near my mums nursing home and I travel from UK to visit her. More of a recommendation than a dislike .... If booking.com asks age of guests would this help the hotel reception staff to put folk over the clubbing scene age on a floor higher up than floor 1 as floor 1 the nightclub music is in the room full blast until 4am fri and Sat

All hotel staff were warm and welcoming which is a very special asset. Our breakfast was generous and tasty with a wide range of choices and we enjoyed ours tucked away in a cute little private corner in the bar downstairs. Thé différent seating areas on the first floor with views towards the sea are particularly lovely. The range of prints and artwork on the walls was interesting and intriguing . Lots of thought gone into this.
There wasn’t anything we didn’t like.Although we didn’t have a room with a sea view the bed was very comfortable and it’s always a nice touch to find a kettle for tea and coffee. Bathroom facilities were clean and bright with lovely thick warm towels. We would have liked our room to be more spacious as it was more compact than a normal double room.

Apartment was huge and had everything you needed. Very clean. Staff were lovely and check in was easy. Breakfast and the bar were good, great quality food and drink
Rooms were very warm in Summer. But they provide fans that you can plug in if needed. Took a while for servers to bring menus and take our orders after being seated both in the bar and at breakfast. It was busy in the bar when we stayed so we thought it was down to that but then it was quiet for breakfast the next morning and it still seemed the same. But this was minor and overall our experience was good.

The rather run-down physical state of the hotel is lifted by one really fabulous feature and two other excellent ones - ● delightful staff - friendly, attentive, efficient ● a very good kitchen team - good menu, good food, well presented ● a great location.
Sadly, the draw-backs at the Martello are obvious for all to see. The physical estate is generally rather run down. To match up to the excellence of the staff, the hotel requires a major face-lift. For instance, we found our bedroom carpets so dirty and stained as to discourage walking on them barefoot. The corridor and stairs carpets were also off-puttingly unattractive, as was quite a lot of the general decor. With such an excellent staff team, in such a fine location, the hotel deserves some capital investment in the estate!

The Martello is a fantastic hotel and a great place to stay, we just got married in Bray and stayed there for 2 nights, they gave us a front facing out to the sea room and the staff couldn’t do enough to make us feel welcome. The whole stay was a pleasure, the room was fantastic, cannot say enough about the fantastic staff, they are a credit to the hotel, the Christmas decorations were something else, the food and service is second to none, we stayed here before and were always going to stay here this time and will definitely be back, thank you to all the staff that made our time there so good. 🥰🥰🥰

The magnificent room with the seaview absolutely stunning A Lovely spacious room with comfortable bed very clean and fresh fabulous breakfasts and lovely ambience and decor Great staff
Been a little picky here as I am struggling to think of any dislikes the fact that you have to go through the restaurant to get to reception is a little off putting as it's quite a busy place but no big deal And maybe that you have to climb some 4 flights of stairs which was fine with myself and my husband as able to do so But could be a problem for elderly folk a lift would be good But I understand it's a Victorian building and would be difficult The band is a little noisy in the bar midweek but that's ok as they are finished quite early

Fantastic food, location and atmosphere. The receptionist (blonde girl with glasses) was so welcoming and helpful. She was friendly and lovely to deal with. The manager who dealt with our family party in the outdoor seating area was fantastic and made sure everything ran smoothly.
Unfortunately some staff were quite rude. We were finishing drinks on our first night there and the security male staff member barked at us- for want of a better word, to “finish our drinks and get up to our rooms.” The following day while we sat outside enjoying our drinks, a different male staff member rudely informed us he was closing the area and we had to leave. This was very disappointing as the rest of our experience was top notch.
