Very central to Martinborough down a quiet street. Colin and Gail were friendly and helpful. The fact they run a reception is great in today's world of BnB's and texted numbers for key boxes. The room was quiet, the bed comfy (the electric blanket on a cold night much appreciated) and the room was very clean. There was a nice little kitchen again all very clean. The shower had good pressure and plenty of hot water. They gave us a heater which we were able to leave on keeping the room toasty enough. There was a TV and two seater sofa to enjoy it. Plenty of room in the accommodation - which was a family room of a double and two single beds. Gail gave us a gift of mandarins which were sweet and welcome.
The room is a bit dated and typical of NZ buildings had no central heating and single glazed windows BUT that's not unusual, just something to be aware of. Regardless of its age it was very clean. Also we don't think they had wifi as standard...

We liked the host—very friendly person. Nothing was too much trouble. Anticipated our every need. Came out when we were leaving to wish us well. We sat outside in the garden on the Saturday afternoon, while one of us read the other person snoozed in the chair. We would stay there again. Electric blankets on the bed.
Slightly bigger or more powerful heaters. Found later in the evening, the 2 heaters we had did not keep the unit toasty. To be fair, the temperature in the morning was - 2 %.

Everything was clean and tidy. Hosts very helpful. Location just a short walk to the centre of town if you wanted anything. Full cooking facilities if you wanted to eat in, and good size fridge. Comfortable bed. Good value.
Rooms are looking a bit tired now. No Wi-Fi, which you may want if you are going to use the smart TV. No extractor fan in bathroom or over oven.

Colin and Gail were the most welcoming and helpful couple you could ever meet. The place is pleasantly quirky but super clean and has everything you need. It is a unique place where nothing is too much trouble. 100% kiwi hospitality, like a visit to the elder relatives. Colin and Gail gave us good advice as to places to visit and we had a a fab time following his suggestions. We would return again as a delightful, cheaper option, no frills and Colin admits this, but in the perfect location for the local wineries. 11/10
No internet but plenty of free wifi at local cafes etc.

The motel is located in the heart of Martinborough township. It looked a bit tired from the outside and we were nervous about whether it would be good to stay at. But it had 'hidden depths' and was surprisingly comfortable, clean and spacious. I'd really recommend it (as long as you're not seeking 5 star accommodation and aren't bothered by '80s decor). The bed was big and comfortable and the unit was very quiet and roomy.
The shower could do with more water pressure, but that was the only negative. Some people would find the place a bit tired and dated, but we measure our accommodation by comfort and cleanliness and it ticked those boxes well.

I loved Colin and Gail. They were so super friendly and made us feel right at home on arrival. They had heated the room up for us and we were so grateful, because the weather was pretty cold. We had such a long arduous trip, all the way from Auckland to Martinborough, through untold road works and rainy weather. (State Highway 1, the Desert Road was closed, so we had to go through Napier). The motel is rather dated, but the price was reasonable and very affordable. We shared 2 rooms with our friends, we took the smaller one, because we were a couple, the other 2 friends were not. We knew the room was very small, and the price reflected this. It met our needs, so all good. We absolutely appreciated the super cleanliness of the rooms as well. Thank you Colin and Gail. We highly recommend Martinborough Motel to anyone looking for awarm, friendly stay, with clean accommodation in Martinborough.
Hmmm... just that the room was very small, but, we already knew that, so everything met our expectations really.

A lovely clean and comfortable motel. It's an older unit, but in the best possible location. Only 1 block away to the square, and heaps quieter than staying right on the actual square. We were very happy there for 3 nights... And will be back there, next time we are in Martinborough. Totally recommend.
There was nothing we didn't like..

Arrived after the office had closed but our host was waiting for us. The 2 heaters and electric blankets had been turned on. Even though we did not need fresh towels each day they were determined that we should have them. Games and books were provided for our grandchildren. Our hosts could not do enough for us. The place was spotlessly clean.
No wifi which did not bother us but I see how it could have been off putting for some people. The place looked a little tired eg the doors could have done with a fresh coat of paint.

Colm the owner was very friendly and we had a lovely chat. We were upgraded to a larger room at no extra cost. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, with 2 beds and a kitchen. There was parking directly outside the unit we stayed in.

Exceptionally friendly staff who went out of their way to help.
The thick heavy bedcover with the pillows put inside, when pillows removed the top part is far too heavy for comfort. I would have liked one more pillow as there were only 2 provided, both rather soft.
